Title: Engies DPG point of view review on SPACE BOOGIE
Post by: eNgIeS on July 01, 2001, 07:34:21 AM
Now, let me explain DPG point of view. I mean, when you think of Daz & Kurupt you think of that west coast gangsta shit, not that party shit that Snoop & Dre do (I'm not dissin them, I like that shit too, but Gangsta the most), like the shit you hear on Kurupts last CD & R.A.W.

I have listened to the album, & from a DPG fan point of view, its good, but not nearly as great as Streetz was

This album seems to be more R&B-ish or new type beats. Theres only a few gangsta beats on there really

1:Blast Off: Trippy intro, sets the tone for the cd, kind of futuristic trippy shit. Good intro

2:Space Boogie: I loved this the first few times but it got really borring for me after a while. Good song, but nothing special for me anyway

3:Hate Me: This song has a real weird beat, as most Soopafly beats do. Its an aight song but I dont really feel it that much

4:On Da Grind: Despite hearing this like 1000 times from R.A.W., I still love this song. I wonder why they had to put it on Kurupts cd too, could of put a new song for us.

5: Its Over Now: I HATE THIS SONG WITH A PASSION. Its so R'N'B-ish & sounds like one of those kiddy songs MYA & Bitch Boys do.

6: Cant Go Wrong: I LOVE THIS SONG. QUIK produces the best beat on the album in my opinion with this track. I can loop this forever, I luv it.

7: On Onsite: Why cant Half Dead rap isntead of sing, Half Dead was mad rapper. Anyway this song starts off very simple witha  simple beat which makes you tempted to skip the track 20 seconds in it, but once the first chorus hits it goes well. Nice track, nothing special to me.

8: Sunshine: Yet another RNB song, Kurupt must be disperate for sales (who can blame him, produce a great gangsta cd & barely sell gold, poor bugger). Thou not as bad as its over now, not one of my tracks.

9: The Hardest: Good song, gangsta shit. That beat for some reason reminds me of Snoops "Gold Rush" & Dre's song from the Wild Wild West soundtrack, thou tighter. Nate suits this song well. Nice to see MC Ren, one of the tightest MC's, mixing it up with todays tightest MC's.

10: Gangstas: Good Gangsta shit, one of my favs

11: Bring Back That G: Fairly nice song, unfortunately Snoop doesnt rap as good as he has rapped recently (Crip Hop), thou it isnt half as bad as the shit rap we heard on Last Meal from him.

12: Lay it on back: Ok song, but it reeks of Bizkitness, Nate comes nice as usual.

13: Dont give a fuck: Nice song, Kurupt clears up his beef with DMX.

14: At It Again: Sounds like DJ Quik production. Decent, to much of party song for me, but still Nice.

15: Kuruption: Nice message in the song, but this shit sounds wack. I liked the Kurupt song off Everlasts cd, but this one sucks. Shit Sounds like Pat Boone.

16: Fuck Da World: This is a mad song, which was on the vinyll of Who Ride Wit Us single.

Overall: Good album, but like Xzibits Restless, seems to be a bit to commercial for my liking which dissapoints me. But hey, when you release an execellent CD & it barely goes gold (Heck, in Xzibits case it was 2 dope cds that didnt go gold), of course your gonna make more of a commercial album to stack paper & sales. It worked for X to tha Z, hopefully it works for Kurupt.

IMO, you rated these not high enuff....

space boogie-dopest beat i have heard in forever

on onsite-dope as shit! did you know it jacks that little synthisiZer sound from rbx "make my day", it sounds like it anyway, which it dope, this beat is great, and the chorus is cool

bring back that g shit-dope ass shit, snoop is pretty good on this, not his lyrics but his flow is great, the beat is awesome

lay it on back-i thought i wouldnt like this, but the beat is str8 heat, and i actually kind like fred durst on here (i swear theres are first time for everything

those are the 4  that i would have rated alot different

Hey its my opinion, & i can say what I want

I could say Snoop is the shitest Rapper alive, whatchu gonna do bout it!. Everyone has there own taste & opinions, & If you dont like it you can buck these nutz neah

I aint hatin!. I just tell it as I HEAR IT!

ANyway I listened the cd again & again, & to tell you the truth some songs have grown a bit more on me like the Limp Bizkit ones but to me the rest like 5 & 8 suck

Its a good cd but not as good as Streetz

THe Hardest & Cant Go Wrong are songs I can fuckin bump forever in a day. I have repeated them so much.

I Liked Most Of The CD, I'll Have A Full Review Up At WCKillaz Soon.

Somebody Agree/Disagree With Me... Is It Me, Or Does The Everlast Song And The One Before It Actually Have COUNTRY Influences? I Hear It, I Know Yall Have To.  ESPECIALLY The Track Before The Everlast Song, That's Some Hokey Sh*t.

The Quik Beat (I Repeat) Is Amazing... That's Art, Yall... He Deserves MAD Props For Keepin' It Real Like That.
