How is he doing at Benfica ?

He doesn't play often. Overrated, if you ask me. A guy i like is Angel Di Maria, argentinian, who plays in Benfica. He got skills, imho. He was linked with Arsenal, this summer. Being a Gunner fan, i'm highly disappointed Wenger couldn't sign him, cause he looks very good.

Someone being young is not an excuse for being poor/over-rated.

Look at Rooney/Cesc/Messi at that age.

But Adu has had hype and pressure since he was 14, wouldnt be surprised if the guy has burned out already.

The hype was there because he's from the U.S.  If he was a youngster from any other country, especially the powerhouses like Italy, Brazil, Argentina, and etc He wouldn't have gotten the same hype.  How can the player be overrated, if nobody likes him lol.

Anno he has been like that since age 14 but I mean Cesc was playing 40 games a season in the EPL at the age of 16/17. Obviously he was playing for Barca before that.

dont think he ever played for barca's first team, i think he was poached at 15.

It's a shame that he ain't getting much play

do you think he will reach the stage people thought he would ?

To be fair he is still adapting to a different culture, different language, etc, is only 18 years old still and hasn't had many minutes in the first time as a result. When he has come on, he has got a few late goals, but he obviously needs to play more if he is to improve as a footballer.

He was always overhyped due to the American connection, but he can still become a great player. Playing in a more competitive league and playing under a world renowned coach such as Camacho can only help him reach his potential. Come back in a couple of years and we can probably make a better judgement as to what Adu can achieve as a footballer.
