Title: Alkaholiks Discography Thread (D~Nice Edition)
Post by: d-nice on December 12, 2007, 08:08:35 PM
Back with another one of these, this time Tha Liks. One of my favorite groups, great party music, never been about that gangsta lifestyle, just good, partying music. Here the breakdown:

1. Likwit - (with King Tee)
  2. Only When I'm Drunk
  3. Last Call
  4. Can't Tell Me Shit
  5. Turn Tha Party Out - (with The Loot Pack)
  6. Bullshit - (with King Tee)
  7. Soda Pop - (with Field Trip)
  8. Make Room
  9. Mary Jane
  10. Who Dem Niggas - (with Threat)

21 & Over: Great debut album. One of those you can just throw on and let it bump from start to finish. Too many favorites to name.

  1. WLIX
  2. Read My Lips
  3. Let It Out
  4. 21 And Under
  5. All The Way Live
  6. Hit And Run
  7. DAAAM!
  8. 2014
  9. Bottoms Up
  10. Flashback
  11. Next Level, The

Coast II Coast: This album was probably their most lyrical. It really had that pure hip hop sound to it. My personal favorite out of all their albums. Also marked the debut of Xzibit. 2014 was my shit off this album. Also The Next Level.

  1. AA Meeting Intro
  2. Likwidation
  3. Captain Hook
  4. Nas Skit
  5. Tore Down - (featuring Loot Pack)
  6. Off The Wall - (featuring Keith Murray)
  7. Killin' It - (featuring Xzibit)
  8. LL Cool J Skit
  9. Feel The Real
  10. Hip Hop Drunkies - (featuring Ol' Dirty Bastard)
  11. Aww Sh*t
  12. J-Ro Late Skit
  13. Keep It Pourin'
  14. Likwit Ridas - (featuring The Whoridas)
  15. Funny Style - (featuring King Tee)
  16. Commercial Skit
  17. All Night
  18. Debarge Skit
  19. Pass Out
  20. 20th Caller Skit
  21. Rockin' With The Best - (featuring Phil Da Agony)
  22. Contents Unda Pressure

Likwidation: Beats were INSANE on this album. Their most mainstream and diverse album, I really thought this album was going to make them a household name. But the promo for Hip Hop Junkies got all fucked up and it just did not work out that way. E-Swift did his thing on this album.

 1. Intro
  2. Bar Code
  3. Run Wild - (featuring Shae Fiol)
  4. L-I-K-S
  5. Bully Foot Skit
  6. Bully Foot - (featuring Busta Rhymes)
  7. My Dear - (featuring Defari)
  8. Interlude
  9. Da Da Da Da
  10. 40 Oz Quartet Part 1
  11. Sickness - (featuring Butch Cassidy)
  12. Goin' Crazy
  13. Best U Can
  14. 40 Oz Quartet Part 2
  15. Anotha Round
  16. Yo Mouth - (skit)
  17. Bubble, The - (featuring King T)
  18. 151 - (featuring Xzibit)
  19. Promote Violins - (featuring Kurupt)

X.O. Experience: This album got alot of heat for the Neptunes single Best U Can. I actually thought it was a cool single but nonetheless this one is more of the same, partying and dope ass beats. Xzibit had 2 dope appearances and Kurupt blacked the fuck out on Promote Violins. E-Swift is the constant on the album with the beats and J-Ro and Tash stay razor sharp with the rhymes.

  1. Intro
  2. Turn It Up
  3. Flute Song, The (Lalala)
  4. Popular Demand
  5. Get Down, The
  6. Get Into It
  7. Faded
  8. Chaos
  9. Hangover
  10. Party Ya A** Off
  11. On The Floor
  12. Poverty's Paradise
  13. Drink With Us
  14. Do It
  15. Over Here

Firewater: Honestly this album is not bad but compared to their other albums, it is the weakest. Nima said in a interview it sounded like the lyrics were sent it instead of that chemistry with all of them in the studio. I agree with that. This album also had more of a harder hitting sound, but definitely some gems on here. HANGOVER IS THAT JOINT!!! Bishop Lamont lost his mind on that track.

So for me I rank them like this:

C2C
21&O
Likwidation
X.O.
Firewater

Solid catalogue with alot of hits. Hopefully this is not the last we here from them. Again if you are new to Tha Liks, check it out, it is not your normal, typical sound or subject matter from the West. Good partying music with dope beats and lyrics. Definitely one of the best groups out west. Drop ya thoughts.

Next up, and this will be a tough one, MC Eiht.

MC Eith? damn you're crazy,a serious Eith thread on DubCC,ha,ha. Is there a way to ban that Finnish dude from the thread? He's going to ruin the thread,I smell trouble.... I can see him and iliveinthefuture going at it,ha,ha.

Yeah that one would be difficult to do, he has alot of albums out. Shit, maybe I will do a different artist instead then. LOL!

that too,I can't keep up with him anymore.
I love Music to driveby, other than that I find his album a little unconsistent. Represent is the best album he has done in the recent years,I hope "he" doesnt see this. He will ruin this thread with all "affiliated" is a classic bs.
ooh well, back to the liks. nice review, but one thing; bishop blacked out? bishop who? lamont? he was on their last album?

Yeah Bishop Lamont was on that Hangover track with Stylistik Jones. Dope track.

ha,ha got to be real with you. I'm not the biggest fan either,I love King T and X but somehow slept on these cats.
The Eiht breakdown will probably have alot of reply's,fuck it just let us ignore that Finnish dude.
Eith is dope....

I am gathering the ones I know that I have. Pretty sure I have all of them and I am not including his collabo albums with Spice 1 and Brotha Lynch in there. Yeah Tha Liks ain't for everyone, but they most def have a great catalogue imo.

what's with the homo shit? I love what you all do,no matter if I'm a fan or not.
So keep it up D`Nice and Luna...

Thanks, glad to see you're enjoying the reviews. Basically I do it for people not up to date with artists music to check it out and for the fans to take a trip down memory lane, even check out some albums they may not have.

I'm usually on top of things, but I've been sleeping on a couple of artists. But by your reviews I might give the artist(s) a 2nd chance. That's the power of reviews,I remember that Em said that he checked everything that got 3.5 or more. (in The Source)
Thanx to you,Evidence and Kemo got another fan.

Yeah I got to get you Kemo's 1st album also. I will send you that later tonight and the other ones we talked about. Almost tempted to do a King Tee review now.

"Rap Life" is my favourite Alkaholiks material released (even though it's only Tash), but i've never really liked their group albums, they got some tight tracks here & there though. Somebody hook me up with "Hip Hop Drunkies"?

ha,ha is there something special about his name or what?

Not really, but "about to do" ain't the most neutral phrase when a name is involved ;)

I heard a couple of tracks from that new J-Ro album and they were both very dope. I think one of them was the first single and the other song was produced by Snoop?? Somebody hook me up with this album??

Well right now J-Ro put out a solo album not long ago, Tash is working on his solo, and they're doing a lot of touring, I think down the line we're definitely gonna get aonther Liks album. Although in the interview they seemed more hyped about an actual Likwit Crew reunion album.
