Like the previous poster said, nothing is official.  De La Hoya is going to do what can make him the most money.  I bet you he's setting up a Cotto-De La Hoya fight first.

Oscar De La Hoya vs Miguel Cotto

if Cotto Wins

Cotto vs Mayweather

if DLH wins

De La Hoya vs Hatton

I can see this fight happening next year... but no way should hatton fight anymore welters he needs to stick to 140 and lower

de la promised his Puerto Rican wife he wont fight any Puerto Rican fighters but if he mans up he should fight cotto...

That's a stupid fuckin reason. I'm not interested in a Cotto fight. Cotto would probably dominate Oscar. A De La Hoya fight against Hatton would be much more exciting.

lol@ this. Boxing is such bullshit sometimes. Hatton/ De La Hoya would be a huge fight saleswise....but meaningless other then that.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I anticipate this as much as a Butterbean fight. Boxers choosing and picking their fights is retarded.

^^It would probably still be a pretty good fight, but the picking and choosing is boring, and also who wants to see the 2 guys who lost to Mayweather? The only fight that people really want to watch is Mayweather-Cotto.

problem is, boxing is a business before it is a sport. And although actual BOXING fans would love to see Mayweather/ Cotto....that isnt the fight that makes the most money. Cotto is in no way a household name. And De La Hoya (as lame as he is), could lose 20 fights in a row and people would still think he is great and want to see him fight. Hatton is white, and from England so he has an entire nation willing to tune in to his fights. This would be a bigger test of who Hatton really is. De La Hoya has made a career off of losing to great fighters in pretty close matches (other then Hopkins who KOd him).

^^Pretty good point, Cotto is close to being a star, and Mayweather has pretty much established himself as a star. But they could build up that fight by showcasing Cotto one more time (the win over Mosley was big) before matching up with Floyd. De La Hoya would be the perfect opponent, but De La Hoya could make more money by fighting Hatton, and that's what the sport is about.

yeah, if Cotto could beat De La Hoya then a Mayweather/ Cotto fight would be huge. Not to mention, Cotto is really the last major test out there for Mayweather. If Floyd were to beat him, theres no question as to how great he is.
