I know an internet board is supposed to be fun, but the enjoyment of one man shouldn't go at the cost of another's. To allow posts with music automatically playing when you open a serious thread, that's just utterly wrong.
I realise that in the way the internet has developed throughout the years, it is inevitable that posting music and video clips has become a part of it, and a very decent part at that. The problem is that it is possible through the coding of dubcc to make a post with a video which automatically starts playing once the page is loaded. That's just plain annoying: I don't need to see the same video playing every time I check a thread for new posts. Even worse, most of the videos that are posted have little to do with the subject matter of the thread, yet they start playing every time you load the page. To top that off, it's possible to resize the videos to any size the poster wants. A size of 0 by 0 pixels is an option, thus making it impossible for any reader to turn off the music. Entirely disabling your sound, that's all you can do about it.
I don't really think this function causes trouble when it comes to posts in the G-Spot, but it does create a major problem in any thread where there's a serious discussion going on. I recently find myself going to the Outbound section less all the time, simply because every time I open a thread to look for some serious discussion about music, there's some stupid irrelevant song playing in the background. These are the threads I don't even bother with anymore. If there's music automatically playing, I'm out of there. I don't need to hear somebody else's music forced upon me while I'm trying to listen to my own music.
The problems that are caused by this, I think are evident. If you're going to allow anti-social teens to terrorize discussions (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=163569.msg1693368#msg1693368) (and discussion, that's the whole point of a message board, is it not?), you're going to allow a full blown anarchy to kick off. Anyone doing whatever the fuck they please, not caring about another, ultimately leading to the destruction of the board. Is that what you want?
I propose the following options:
* One way or another, autoplay gets disabled. It should not be a function in a message board with a purpose other than spam.
* Administrators start seriously controlling the way posters behave. Sanctions follow for anyone abusing the autoplay function.
* You let the board turn to a full blown anarchy. The way things are going, I'll be the first to pack my bags.
Administrators, take your pick.

I donīt even want to hear it in the G Spot. If itīs a decent song then ok but sometimes itīs just crap and annoying.

Well, I consider the G-Spot as designed for spam, so that's why I don't think it's necessarily hurting to have autoplay in there. Thing is, it's wrong to force your music upon others, especially when they can't disable it.

Stop Autoplay Application :sun: Nothing plays without your permission.
Download and read more -> http://hemiolapei.free.fr/divers/sap/sap-en.html (if you fucking with Firefox)
It also shows who embeds these 0x0 sized autoplay videos.

I agree...Autoplay should never be used unless it's 100% fitting. I seem to be the only one who's mastered the art of autoplay. 8)

As the originator of autoplay on dubcc, I say stfu and gets some pussy.
lol @ Tony P-Dizzle :D

Just do like I do, turn your speakers all the way down.
After my brothers is off the computer they turn the speakers up, so when I come back on, I step into a thread and I hear some hardcore Dipset shit and I'm like 'damn'. Not that I care about it..

the autoplay with hiding is pretty annoying
-
Some of you guys really cry about shit too much. Is there really nothing else more important going on in your lives where this is actually an issue?
And LMAO @ this music. Perfect reason why autoplay is crack.

Nah, it wasn't directed towards you in particular. Just anybody in general who complains on a message board.

turn your speakers down, everyone is happy
how much time do you guys really spend on dubcc per day for this to be an issue? i check it maybe once or twice a day, for a total of about 15 minutes
