Dubcnn's Best Of 2007 - December 31, 2007 By : Eddie
2007 has been quite a year for hip-hop, and we've seen many quality releases from artists and producers across the nation. Because of this, we've compiled "Dubcnn's Best Of 2007" - a look back at the Dubcnn staff's favorite artists, albums, mixtapes, and singles of the year.
It was very hard to pick a single winner in each category, so we've chosen five picks under each topic. These winners were chosen from a majority vote system, and it was no easy task to pull off! Please be aware that the views and selections expressed in this "Best Of" feature are the opinions of the Dubcnn team as a whole.
Some of our staff have expressed their reasons and feelings in regards to who and what deserved to be recognized in selected categories. Also please note that images shown do not represent a 'favorite' or 'winner'. Check out what we've come up with by following the link below.
Dubcnn's Best Of 2007

I still don't get why Jigga get so much love - the album was boooring. Better than Kingdom come - yes, but it's like Jay pressed that autopilot button again.. (ARTIST of the year, c'mon..)
Amy Whinehouse, who? Damn.. she sounds like a cat.. I haven't heard Amy's or Kingston's album (other than the singles) - but damn.. ain't the kid a rapper? Now he's on some T-Pain shit.. I smell sellout lol
Replace them two with Tank and Alicia, and then we're talking
Damn this list made me see I had missed out on many releases, Muggs & Sick Jacken, Blu & Exile, Strong Arm Steady, Cormega, Little Brother and a couple more.. I just listened through Below The Heavens once now - and it sounds real fresh.. 1 album, 1 producer - Gotta love that.. it's good.. gonna give it a couple more spins..
Next is Evidence though.
I ain't really a mixtape guy - too many comes out with those 23 seconds snippets. I hate that.
I know Kno ain't producing shit outside Cunninlynguists - but he's a damn good producer!
Otherwise, the producerlist is on point.
The beats - yeah.. those are ups and down.. One day I'm feeling this track, next day it's another - so it's a hard list to make up. I'll Still Kill is a banger for sure.
It's the same for Verse of the Year.
The rest of the lists are various - some categories are meeh to me.. Don't care that much.
Props on the work though DubCNN, but where's Trae and Cunninlynguists!?

I used to feel the same way, but mixtapes are on a whole different level these days. These "street albums" are like real albums, in fact they'll probably be better than the major label albums because it's the raw shit the artist wants to make with no boundaries.

Yeah, I'm not talking about street albums, I mean mixtapes which DJ's compile and scream all over.
But I see what u are saying.
