Yeah, what rappa at this time, who is alive is tha realest rappa, creating tha rap, for the rap, and not for the public.
And who is the most commercial Rappa. That's Raps for tha public :-/
-
Realest I would have to say Xzibit for being the realest rapper but as for commercial, as much as I love the guy and there has been so many topics about him recently, I would have to say Eminem. I hate to say it and don't wanna believe it but I think he has gone too much commercial instead of being real. I think money has some what over-powered him, like a lot of rappers, and made him rap about what he raps about instead of his old underground style.
-
XZIBIT? hellllll naw.....underground cats like danja mowf..i takl to this guy on the net....jurassic 5 and so on, and some people like will smith are the most commercialist.....definetly not eminem, listen to devils night, he talks about some serious shit
-
In my opinion Cypress Hill keep their shit real for life. They changed the game when they dropped their early albums and have stayed in the game for years (they've dropped 6+ albums).
I've got to agree with So much style though, Will Smith is rapping for the public.
-
But is that so bad, ya gotta wonder.
-
The realest is DJ Quik no question. He is the only mufucka who never waters his shit down, never caters to the commercial market, and always makes incredible true to life music.
Eminem is the most commercial. anyone who disagress turn on MTV right now and I bet he'll be on there.
-
the rapper doing it for the raps: i'd have to say someone like talib kweli
and the most comercial i guess i'd have to say....Nelly,
-
there's a diff between "Commercial" and "Mainstream"...the realest is Will Smith for doin what he believes in or Pac for the same reason [they never changed their styles/subject matter]...the most commercial has to be Ja Rule he str8 changed his whole style to sell records from its murda to bitches...Em comes close but i'm not sure...he seems very commercial cause his whole ACT is...i aint beleivin' him and all that "i dont give a fuck" talk..
-
Realest, I Agree, Is Probably DJ Quik. He Even Made A Song ADMITTING That MC Eiht Punked Him, If That's Not Real, I Dunno What Is...
Most Commercial To Me Is People Just Doing Anything For A Buck... I Don't Think Eminem Falls Under That, Because He's Not JUST In It For The Money, He Was Respected On the Underground For Years. I'd Say That Snoop Does TONS Of Stuff Just For The Money. He's Said He'd Work With Britney Spears If The Money Was Right, So I'd Say Snoop Dogg Is The Most Commercial... Keep In Mind He's Been On More Songs, Too, Than Probably Any Other Guest Artist...
I Also Don't Think Being Commercial Is That Bad... Most Peeps Get Into The Game To Be Commercial, That's Just How It Is..
I ALSO Believe That Being Real And Commercial Isn't A Dichotomy, They're Not Opposite Ends Of The Same Pole.. They're Not 2 Extremes, But Rather Two Totally Different Things.. (I.E., Being NOT Commercial Doesn't Neccessarily Make You Real, And I See It As Possible To Be Commercial AND Real, I.E., Snoop Keeps It Pretty Real With Hookin' His Homies Up, And Not Changing His Beliefs, While At The Same Time Being Commercial.)
PEACE!
-
yea realest prob is Mos Def and Talib Kweli, i agree w/DJ QUIK too...most comercial is prob Nelly, Jay-Z,JA Rule ..Eminem is too
-
I'd agree with Dj Quik being one of the realest... I think he deserves to be on top and would be on top if he did what people wanted him to do.... but he keeps it real even if it means less money... you gotta respect that.
WestCoastVeteran was right too.... there is a difference between being Mainstream and Commercial... you can stay true and make it to tha mainstream. A Commercial rapper is a rapper that isn't even allowed to do what he wants... he does what the big company executive producers want him to do to make more money.... and they promote him mostly for his IMAGE rather than his TALENT.... Kinda like Lil Zane.
I wouldn't call Snoop commercial.... he's one of those rappers that went mainstream but kept it real... He's still rappin' 'bout Hoes, Weed, Money and LBC bangin'....
If Snoop ever did work with Britney.... you could call him a sell out but he'd tell you himself it's all for tha money.... and I bet he'd still be G'd up... being himself.... LoL... probably have a lil skit where he's Big Jeffree and Britney is his hoe.... That'd be a trip!

I Ain't Sayin' Nothin' About Snoop, It's Just We Didn't Really Define "Commercial".. By My Definition, I Still Say It's Snoop..
By Your Definition, Doing What The Companies Want, And Not Being Able To Do What You Want, Then I'd Say Any Of The Newbies (Bow Wow, Nelly, Etc.) Are, And I'd Also Say Tupac Was, BEcause I Think Suge Manipulated The HELL Outta Our Boy...
