Usually, dubcnn is the place where break new artists and introduce them to the world, but sometimes it goes the other way around and we gotta jump on something that's already popping. Roscoe Umali has been on dubcnn before, but it's about time we properly introduce the Philipino native from Los Angeles to our viewers.
I know a lot of people are like hold up, Roscoe? That's Kurupt's little brother! No, this is Roscoe Umali, different person. He adresses this issue on his song "Illmind", featuring J. Black, where he spits:
"Just to get the record straight/I am not related to Kurupt in any way/except that he spit and I spit/we both spit the hotness/and he got a younger brother that be lookin nothin like me/but we share the same name[...]".
Roscoe Umali is managed by Sway & King Tech, and has recorded with Talib Kweli, E-40, Raekwon, DJ Muggs, DJ Khalil to name a few. Right now, the man has got the number 1 independent song in the country with his latest single "Live It Up", which features Bobby Valentino on the hook, and a verse from the Ambassador of the Bay E-40. The track was produced by Aftermath's Focus, and it's a certified banger!
Make sure to check out "Live It Up" right now and get with the hype:

This version of "Live It Up" is a remix to the original, which originally had J. Black singing the chorus instead of Bobby V. They recently shot a video to the remix, and Topic, Hot Dollar, Bangloose, Stylistic Jones, Damani, Another Level, D.K. All Day, Amil G Dae One and the homie Mash were a few of the cameos that showed up.
We're going to hook up with Roscoe Umali for an interview very soon to get the whole scoop on him, until then hit up his MySpace page to hear some more music. Here are a few promo videos from Scoe that you can check out:

Be on the lookout for more news on Roscue Umali on dubcnn soon, until then bang that "Live It Up"!

Ya first time I heard this shit on the radio here in SD I was like oh shit!!!!! They had like 5 people call in right away on air and ask who it was and they played that shit like 3 times. I hope the rest of his stuff comes out like this song. The original did not grab me as much but with Bobby V on it that shit was smooth as hell to me.

Took a chance on downloading this track as I never heard of him before, I was surprised at how good it was. That beat is sick! What else does he have out right now?

First time I heard this Roscoe Umali guy, and I have to say: he sounds dope! Nice delivery, flow, voice, lyrics, etc...Bobby V. came smooth as hell.
And yeah, the beat is hot. But it doens't really have that "thumping" beat to it. Maybe that's what makes it so special. The quality's 320 kbps, so it's definitely not a matter of a bad quality-mp3. Would be interesting to hear a version of this song where the beat thumps hard (I assume it's the "kick" that I'm talking about?).
By the way: just stumbled across another Roscoe Umali track in one of my music folders: Take A Picture (Young Keno ft. Kam & Roscoe Umali - remix). He came tight as hell on that song as well.
