After a year or so of seeing all these latin mc's signing deals with Aftermath,Roc a fella,Interscope & so on. They all get dropped except for OMAR CRUZ. Why you'll think it is so hard for a latin mc to really make it? There is so many latin people in this country it's crazy that we still have not made it in the rap game. For now I will do my part & keep supporting Omar Cruz. Leave some feed back.

If you were wondering what latin artist were sign to major label & got dropped. Here you go.
Joell Ortiz - Aftermath - DROPPED
Aztek - Roc-a-fella - DROPPED
Tru Life - Roc-a-fella - DROPPED

It's indeed somewhat strange, but I like to think that those particular artists got dropped for reasons other than their ethnic origin. I'm sure there's lots of label politics/budget cuts in involved.
I just hope that Omar's album will be released this year, if possible before the summer of '08. B.Y.I. Entertainment has never named a particular release date so far, so we can't say that they're not sticking to their word. As far as I know "early '08" was the time frame that the album was scheduled to drop. It's safe to say that it won't be "early" '08, so I just hope it'll at least come out this year. I think it will.
He still has the label support from Geffen/Interscope. Tom Punanzio (CEO of Geffen) was at Omar's video shoot about two months ago, so I think that's a good indication that the label is still supportive of him, and thus not likely to drop Omar.
It's probably just a matter of patience now. Omar & his camp are currently in Miami, and later this weekend they fly out to New York. So perhaps they'll take care of some business matters (mixing? mastering?) over there and finalize the album. I should check with LuLu about that...

Damn you know a lot about Omar Cruz & his camp. Do you know if he is dropping that song with Game next week? I saw on another site that Cruz has Game on his single & that the single will drop next week. Is that true? If so that would be dope ass fuck. Those 2 artist get my vote for being on the for front of the west coast movement.

Omar has signed with Geffen in June 06... I think it is safe to say 08 or never ...

Agree with you. He has to drop in 08 or it's not going to look good for him. I really do hope he drops his album this year.

Its potential and budget cuts - simple - and TRUST me, no one is safe right now. there are massive things afoot in the industry - MASSIVE.
there will be lots of artists, both known and unknown that will be forced to take cuts, change contracts, make sacrifices or be dropped....its that simple right now
-
Yeah. I think he's hanging on for dear life in my opinion.

We will find out soon hopefully he is cool & put's out a classic album.

I would say one thing that has helped Omar tremendously so far is Lulu. That guy has been round and round in the music business and knows his stuff and knows how to handle business. He is a tremendous asset to everyone around him.

Yeah, in the interview DubCNN conducted with LuLu about 6 months ago, LuLu came across as a very industry-wise person. And not in the way that he was bragging about his knowledge. He just knows what's up. Clever dude.

Let's all just do are part by supporting omar & all our latin mc's that deserve support.
-
Does anybody know when he is suppose to drop his next signle?
-
Aztek had no potential.
Tru-Life couldn't even spark interest when beefing with Jimmy Jones who was hot at that moment. Dude is dope, but is always gonna just be a B-List NY Emcee.
Joell... Well, I've said it once, I'll say it a million times... Dre just doesn't know what to do with emcess of Joell's caliber. He can slide a dope emcee or a few beats, but he just doesn't know what to do with their albums...

A possible cause for the massive drops may have to do with the decline and death of the CD era, and the coming of the digital age. CDs were a thing of the pass, and everyone wanted to have a CD out. Pressing CDs costs money, and only a select few who impress the record label officials will most likely have a shot. Even major record labels are losing out.
For example: Low Profile Records.

Did Joell get dropped?, I reas the comment about Jimmy fucking up. but didnt know ha got dropped for sure..

They are saying now that Joell did not get dropped he asked to be released. He is no longer sign to aftermath.

where did you hear that? can you post a link?

Yeah, I'm curious as well. I think it's safe to say it's 100% bullshit. Omar has been in the studio with Game for his debut album, but no information from the B.Y.I. camp has leaked so far about them putting out Omar's single next week. B.Y.I. keeps their fans posted via MySpace, so I'm sure I would've heard something about it by now.

i also heard its gonna be released next week. but from someobody on the internet
I saw it on the califarap forums. Some guy in there says hes close with BYI or something like that and that the omar and game single is gonna be released next week.
He said he heard it and it was dope.
So i dont know. Maybe the guys telling the truth, maybe he aint.
-
I've been hearing the same thing about the game record. In a couple of interviews Omar said that his next single was with Game. He has never said when it was coming out. I hope it comes out soon.

I'm surprised why they ain't more latino or latina artists poppin over in the States neither, given that theirs such a large Latino community in the States, an in most ghettos across the States your gonna find blacks mixed wit Latino brother an sisters in those enviroments, true fucking stories, an at the end of the day now, if you look at the history of hip hop now, it was started by Latino an black ghetto youth, an thats a fact, so I don't know why Latino's ain't really poppin in the game like everyone else at the moment, in greater numbers if you see what I'm saying, theirs definetly people wit talent, up an coming talent like Tru Life, Omar Cruz, Queenie, people like that, theirs bare, but to keep it really real, apart from a few major label artists full stop, no one is really poppin on a big boy level, full stop at the moment, black or Latino, the record industry over your side of the pond is going through a recession at the moment, I don't no why, maybe its got sumthin to do wit the fact that the rap industry is overly popped out from top to bottom in the major label/radio industry, apparatus or sumthin you know, an its put off a lot of the customers or sumthin, I dunno, I ain't got a clue why niggas ain't poppin off like back in the day fam, but Omar Cruz album is definetly one to look out for, he's mixtapes are sick, so his album should be fire, truss
