We got Marvin Gaye with Eric Sermon. I would like to see these guys collab with or get sampled by rappers:
Al Green
The Isley Brothers (I know they have but I would love to hear more)
Curtis Mayfield
Willie Hutch
There are more but my brain is too racked to think of anymore.

Curtis Mayfield
Ronald Isley
Smokey Robinson
Stevie Wonder

Jr. Walker
David Ruffin
Harold Melvin
-
James DeBarge (LOVE his shit with Quik)
Four Tops
O-Jays
im still soaking game on oldies so everyone let me know who i should check out.
-

I'm glad people threw in Curtis (RIP)
heres a few random ones that i can recall
Isaac Hayes
The Ohio Players
Kool & The Gang did some good shit before they turned super pop
i think mr.loc's 'soaking up game' is getting harder for us younguns without the stuff being easy to get hold of and played a lot - i hear shit sometimes years after i realised its come from an advert - its buggin coz i feel there should be recognition

overseer i like to hit up the big HMV megastores, they always got a ton of greatest hits albums for like a fiver each.
youre right the original albums are really rare now but greatest hits cds are dope for an introduction for folks like me

Oh and I can't forget the Brothers Johnson. They had some of the tightest songs I've ever heard.
Everyone chack out Strawberry Letter #22 or Stomp. Those songs are straight classics.

loc - exactly.. i got a stack of greatest hits and old compilations - even covers of old stuff
theres a group called breakestra (http://www.breakestra.com) that does live covers of stuff thats heavily sampled - they've got a cd out using in a format they called a livemix where they run through a stack of covers seamlessly - dope stuff.

Oldies, I'd Want To Sample
Sam Cooke (One Of The Greatest, Hardly Ever Mentioned)
Marvin Gaye (Of Course)
The Temptations
The Drifters (It's Usually Slow, But It Could Be Done By A Good DJ)
Michael Jackson
Dusty Springfield
Pretty Much Anybody Would Work For Me LOL... They Could Pull Anything Off , If They Were Skilled Enough...
BTW, I Think Dre's Sample Of Rare Earth's "I Just Want To Celebrate" Is The Best Sample Ever Done... He Did That PERFECT.

Stevie Wonder (AKA Wonders)
Isley Bros
Issac Hayes
