Hey Guys,
I tune in to my local radio sation 101.5Jams here in Phoenix AZ, and I listened to a brief interview with Snoop. Here's the news:
He said members of his entourage are urging him to update and release "Doggystyle". This is something he definitely wants to do in the future and when he does, plans on launching a tour performing nothing but songs of the album.
The DJ asked him "what is the difference between you and T-Pain? Snoop replied, "Simple. No disrespect but I sing my notes on point". ;D
Plugged his "Snooperbowl" event this weekend in Chandler, AZ.
Wants to collaborate with Willie Nelson. That is all.
I have mixed emotions about this ; it could be incredibly dope or a huge letdown. Better not tamper with the classics.
-
That would be crazy. It would only work if everyone from the original cast was involved.
-
confused, remake it how? hmmm
-
What does it mean "remake"? I ain't understand..
He should re-release this album with leftovers in CDQ. 8)

remake? like what? Rambo style? if so wtf is the point
-
He should re do the album with all live instrumentals and the same vocal masters...
-
As long as Dre, DOC, Dogg Pound and Warren G are in the building when he does then fine. But its probably best not to tamper witha classic. I'd like to hear a live album with a couple leftovers that never came out. Btw didn't know Snoop owned the rights to Doggystyle?
-
if it ain't broke, don't fix it

he doesn't.

That is what I was about to say!
Unfortunately if he is still dope to me I don't think that he is currently in the good state of mind to (re)create THE classic.
-
if it ain't broke, don't fix it
-
naw that shit could be hot. If they redo all the originals....but also throw in some features from some newer Westcoast artists. Shit, they could even remix some tracks and throw in some older Westcoast cats. Imagine "Suicide feat Ice Cube" or "Gin and Juice feat E-40". Id pick that shit up.

Now THERES an idea.
-
Don't get this...But it sounds dope.
-
leave well enough alone...
dont need to be remade.. thats like prince remakin 1999 or purple rain.. whats the point..
u still relevant to the game... thats shit irrelevant ass niggas do...
y go backwards?
-
He probably wants to remake it because it's still his best album and was his defining moment. I say leave it as it is.
-

-
lol if he want to remake it like the 25th thriller anniversary of Michael Jackson... It's goin' to be desaster. Fo real, the original song of Michale are a million better than these fuckin' remixes.
-

I agree with the people who are saying that you shouldn't mess with a classic. I'm not sure how he could redo the album and songs with new guest artists sounds like it could be a failure. I didn't really like it when they tried that with 2Pac and Notorious B.I.G. (even though their duets albums weren't true remakes).
A Doggystyle tour and maybe a live album version would be O.K. It's definitely a show that I would like to see.
-
fuck the cd, i wanna see him live!
-
if it ain't broke, don't fix it

LOL @ the idea to do a Doggystyle tour
as if he never performs a bunch of songs from that album :P
say about Snoop what you want, but he always pleases his fans when he's on stage :)

I would still pay to hear the entire album live. Even though when I saw him on the Blue Carpet tour, he pretty much only did stuff from BCT and Doggystyle, there were still some songs that I would have liked to have heard like "Tha Shiznit", "Gz and Hustlaz" and "Pump Pump."
-
I hope he doesn't try to remake Doggystyle. What if he has T-Pain singing Nate Dogg's part on Aint No Fun, or has Lil Wayne amd TI rapping with him on Doggy Dogg World, etc all to appeal to today's audience. That would be a travesty!
-
^^^^^
That's exactly what he is going to do! I heard it was going to be called "Doggystyle: The Way It Should Have Been." He is going to pull Kurupt Tha Kingpin, Dat Nigga Daz, Lady of Rage, and Warren G off there and replace them with Andre 3000, Bun B, 50 Cent, Fabolous, Paul Wall, Lil Wayne, T.I., Ludacris, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Kanye West, The Game, Jay-Z, Akon, and a special guest appearance from Eminem. It's supposed to be all new verses from these guests.
Imagine:
Ain't No Fun ft. Andre 3000, Akon, & Kanye West
If he was going to remake it, he should put Bishop Lamont, Crooked I, Eastwood, Knoc'Turnal, Xzibit, Tha Realest, Too Short, Yukmouth, E-40, Ice Cube, Sly Boogy, Jay Rock, Glasses Malone, and The Game on there. But nope, it's going to be those other artists.

That is such a shit title. The way it should of been is the way it is.
-
Doggstyle 2 should be the title of his next album , that would solve everything !!!!!
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle 2 ( 2009 ) 8) 8)
-
they had this idea for a while..i remember there was about to be a Tribute for the 10th anniversary of doggystyle..i remember Fat Joe and others were about to appear on it
-
I'm not really into the idea of redoing a classic. Snoop should leave that album in its own time and place. It can only tarnish the legacy. Dogg Pound was supposedly thinking of doing a Dogg Food Pt 2 and it would have been the same thing with that. The only album though that Snoop talked about that I would be hyped to see is a Lost Tapes album.
-
" 50 Cent, Fabolous, Paul Wall, Lil Wayne, T.I., Ludacris, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Kanye West, Akon"
How To Kill a myth ::)

Here's an even better idea, Snoop. This summer, do a one-night only concert special at Staples Center or Western Forum to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Doggystyle like Jay did for the 10th Anniversary of Reasonable Doubt. Dress the stage up with the theme of the album cover and then perform every song off the album. Also, while you're at it, get in touch with VH1 and have them shoot a documentary interviewing the key players involved in the recording process of Doggystyle. VH1 did an hour-long documentary of The Making Of Reasonable Doubt, so why not have The Making Of Doggystyle?
This would really be reaching, but fuck it. Get in touch with Suge, Crooked I, them vatos you had beef with over the BCT album and anyone else you haven't squashed it with and invite them to be a part of the concert special and whatnot? Especially Suge, since he's one of the key players of the album. Show the hip hop world that West Coast solidarity is important and possible. Set an example, nigga. Grown men doing grown men things. The West Coast been gone for too long. It's time to bring both OG's and New West movements together, so an event like this could definitely be the perfect springboard for a positive change in West Coast hip hop.
Maybe instead of doing the concert in the summer, you could do the concert on the date that Doggystyle was released? So that'd be Nov. 23rd? That should give you plenty of time to plan an event of this proportion.

Don't touch a polished gem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It wouldn't even be close to the original!!!!!!!!!! Snoop don't have that follow me follow me flow no mo!!!!!!!!!! It would flop unless he gets a gang of stars on there and has Dre reunited with Daz and RBX(he had alot of influence on the Chronic and Doggystyle Albums bet nobody knew dat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

much better idea.

he would hav 2 hav dr.dre on the whole proudction if he wants to do a remake.
i would lik to see productions from dre, daz, soopafly, warren g & dj pooh
-
Maybe this "remake" means a soundtrack from this tour or somethin'??
-
He shouldn't do that and just improve his sound to some Doggystyle 2 type of album where every westcoast rap fan get his "eargasm"...
Remember NWA's "STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON" 10th anniversary album has been already disappointing (despite the many Westcoast OGs rappin' on it).
-
dre's not going to put the time into this and who would buy this without him involved
-
This is the worst idea ever. I do agree with the poster that said they should release Doggystyle with the unreleased songs from those sessions. They need to release a 15th anniversary edition this November, that includes Doggystyle feat George Clinton, Tha Next Episode original version, and Nigga Named Dave. Was the song "It's On" he did with Lady of Rage from the Doggystyle sessions or was it intended for her unreleased Eargasm album?

I say leave it as it is.

co-sign, Snoop has a lot of leftovers of dope material

itz on was a deep cover leftover

I was actually hoping that his next album will be Doggystyle level lol. But Let's hope that Ego Trippin is awesome.

Remake Doggystyle? What, like they did with the Star Wars joints, the Special Editions and shit?
Hell naw, he shouldn't do that. That's tampering with perfection.
Now, making a sort of sequel album to it - that could work. Get the whole DPG on there, get Dre involved, get The D.O.C. involved - that could result in some hot shit. But getting all these cats together for a project would be a scheduling nightmare, so it'll never happen like that.
I'm down with the tour though, should that happen & come my way. Snoop was excellent on stage when I saw him. Him performing the whole Doggystyle top to bottom would be dope as hell, especially if he got all the featured cats to come along.
