But here's the official introduction thread
MadCon consists of Tchawe (Kapricon) and Yosef (Critical aka Critics) and they got exposed to the Norwegian Hip-Hop scene in 2000. Don't really recall which song that got released first, but their first radio-single was called "God Forgive Me", and that was my first encounter to their music. Another radio-single from 2000 was "Oslo City (O.C.)".
They also released another song that year, "Fuck You".
MadCon got their breakthrough with the help of Paperboys and their single "Barcelona" in 2001 - The song was very popular and I bet it's one of the best selling rap-singles in Norway even to this date. Kap and Critics featured on several songs on Paperboys' debut in 2001, "It's Paper" and "Feel It" are the other tracks beside Barcelona.
They released their debut, "It's All A MadCon", in 2004 and it was criticly acclaimed, but flopped on the chart. Singles from this album was "Doo Wop" and "Infidelity" featuring R&B singer Sofian. This album won the award for Best Hip-Hop Album '04 in 2005 at "Spellemannsprisen", the biggest Norwegian music award show.
Kap and Critical has close ties to Paperboys, they got a whole crew called Alien Allies, and they've been heavily featured on Paperboys' albums.
Last year, in December, MadCon got to release their sophmore album ("So Dark The Con Of Man"), and it has become a huge hit, selling over 15,000 copies in it's first week. Platinum status (30,000 copies) was achieved just days after, which is historical, and I bet it'll reach Double Platinum in no time. They has a big hit going, "Beggin'", and it still is heavy rotated by radio and TV. Beggin' has been the #1 single for over 14 weeks now, which is a major achievement. Their second single from the album is called "Back On The Road" and features Paperboys. This single has also entered the Top 20 and in it's 3rd week, it's at #7
Yesterday, there were a new awardshow, and they won for Best Hip-Hop Album '07 and Hit of the Year (Beggin').
