I wouldn't call this house, but in Europe dance music never went anywhere. I didn't think Rihanna would do a song like this as she's on a rap/R&B label even though she's a pop artist. They probably wanted her to sample an MJ song since it's 25 years ago Thriller came out.

I'm not familiar enough with the names of different dance genres, but I do know that this is definately not house music. Britney Spears makes the same type of songs and she is categorized as pop.

People like to call her an R&B artist because she's black, but if a white girl would have made the exact same songs her music would not have been called R&B.

Tell me something I don't know. This is a typical song that is hot in the charts right now. Any real dance fan will tell you this is not dance music, just as any real R&B fan will tell you Umbrella is not an R&B track (sorry Herzy! lol).

Either way, just because a singer is black doesn't make the songs they sung R&B; just because a track uses simplified pumping bass drums and claps doesn't make it house music, or even dance.
