Although sources say that the teams are still sorting out final details, this deal was described as "imminent" by one source close to the process after negotiations moved to an advanced stage Tuesday night. The proposed swap -- salvaged from talks of a three-way trade with Portland that developed and fizzled quickly two weeks ago -- would require Dallas to send 24-year-old point guard Devin Harris, veteran swingman Jerry Stackhouse, the expiring contracts of center DeSegana Diop and swingman Devean George and another player such as guard Maurice Ager to New Jersey for Kidd and possibly veteran guard Darrell Armstrong. It's believed that Dallas would also send New Jersey cash and future draft considerations.

they give up too much ... Suns and Mavs are way over reacting on the Gasol trade .. what I like is these 2 teams have a one-2 year at max window while we will be there for the next 5+ years

yeah, Mavs would be giving up quite a bit.

Kidd + another player
for
Harris, Stackhouse, George, Diop, another player, cash + draft consideratons

Maybe they'll try and sign Diop when his contract expires; but i dont think they should be so dependent on Dampier

Giving up Diop would be terrible. Just terrible. Really horrific.

I can care less about Stackhouse, George and Ager, though.

I love how these top teams are willing to ruin their roster to keep up with us. The problem is we only gave up Kwame Brown + a rookie who wasn't in the rotation + draft picks for Pau Gasol. Phoenix gave up their leading rebounder / best defender for a guy with lil left in the tank. Dallas is giving up a lot for a 36 year old point guard nd that STILL isn't enough for either team to keep up with Kobe & the twin towers.

See you in the finals Boston!

Breaking News: Kidd traded to Dallas in latest blockbuster deal

By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports 45 minutes ago

Yahoo! Sports

Less than 48 hours ago, Jason Kidd was privately telling people he feared he wouldn’t get out of New Jersey before the trade deadline next week. Yet just when he was losing hope, the Nets agreed in principle to deliver the All-Star point guard to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday afternoon, a source close to the negotiations told Yahoo! Sports.

Kidd and Malik Allen will go to Dallas for 24-year-old point guard Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop, Devean George, Maurice Ager, $3 million and two future No. 1 draft picks. In a side deal, the Nets sent guard Antoine Wright to Dallas for a future second-round pick.

If Dallas doesn't win it all, this was a terrible deal. I can't believe they traded Diop. Especially since the Nets can't be too interested in bigs, as they have a promising young center in S.Williams and a good center (when rehabbed) in Kristic, also that Stromile nigga. FUCK THIS. Dampier as the only center on a team that wants to win the championship? FUCK OUTTA HERE. The CShip has to be the ONLY goal, as this was OBVIOUSLY not a move for the future, LOL. Trading all those young promising guys and all those picks for a 35 year old who shoots 36%. Disgusting.
