... and I was blown away. What a great album. (It's by The Pharcyde for those who don't know.) The production is flawless, with Dilla's beats really standing out. The rhymes are awesome, although I admit I don't know enough about the group to pick out individual members. And the overall vibe is just so mellow and fun.
It's funny. I was listening to this last night and it seemed strange to think it dropped in 1995. I was 15, 16 then, obsessed with G-funk and Death Row and anticipating all the 'traditional' West Coast releases. How did I miss such a timeless sounding, quality album as this? Just goes to show people - open your mind and ears to other styles of hip-hop and you realise what you're missing out on.

Glad you finally got onto this man, its an absoloute classic in my mind. Tipifies the "other side of the coin" of westcoast hiphop at that time. Its a shame that so much focus was on the negativity and violence surrounding hiphop that albums like this were able to be overlooked!
Your spot on about its vibe and the fun and mellow feel of the album, it has stood the test of time too and sounds pretty fresh. I bump it often and i bet you find yourself doing the same!

Is that 'The Last Punk' or something? I was looking at that on emusic.com this morning trying to work out what to get with my remaining credits this month. They had that latest Pharcyde too. Thanks for the recommendations.

THE PHARCYDE IS THE SHIT!!!!!!
i have all their shit!
Check out Tre Hardson's solo albums. His first was Liberation and second was Slimkid3's Cafe. He's more on the love tip on his lyrics. A good song you guys might like is Something 2 live 4 off that Liberation album. Humbolt Beginnings is a dope album for sure! That She Said (remix) is the shit! Flawless J-Dilla production.

great album, i heard it for the first time last year and i was like "Damn, i wish i would have known about this years ago!"
-
Yeah it was a dope album. Bizarre Ride was so much different then this one but this is Pharcyde at their finest also. Plain Rap is dope as fuck too but I don't think Fatlip was with them by the time that dropped.
