Must-Read Interview With Bishop Lamont [Pt. 1] - February 19, 2008 By : Eddie
Dubcnn linked up with Bishop Lamont for another in-depth interview. This time, we set the focus on questions from the fans. Bishop answers what you would like to know about "The Reformation", West Coast radio DJs, and his taste in literature. After this, we address the J Wells situation, which apparently has not been resolved.
We close things off with some exclusive news about Dr. Dre's "Detox", which is now coming before "The Reformation" and is being recorded right now. Find out about all of these topics and much more by reading the interview.

Shouts out to TakeOff Productions for all of their help! Make sure to add Bishop Lamont as your friend on Myspace. We're gonna be back with part two of this feature, where Bishop tells us more about "Detox" and "The Reformation", and continues to answer your questions, later this week.
Until then, stay tuned to Dubcnn for all of your West Coast needs.

hehe no problem ;) thanks for part 1 of the interview
i'm glad Detox is first priority now, it never made sense to me that the Reformation was supposed to come first ;)
and what a stupid move by J Wells; handle it the mature way-->direct contact like Bishop said.
-
It was funny reading my nickname in the interview, props to Eddie for putting our questions.
I was happy to read that Detox will be released before Reformation because the other way around didn't make much sense, since Dre logically want's to introduce a new sound on Detox and with Reformation being released 1st would mean Bishop wouldn't get Dre's A beats (to keep the new sound on the low). I also like what he said about Detox being a priority to Aftermath and Interscope.
On the other hand this means we won't see Reformation in 08 (I can't see Detox released before the 4th quarter) and a possibility that he becomes another Hittman. I also didn't really believe that he choose not to give the album to the label on Jan 15th, because he want to work with more producers/rappers. It's probably that the label picked Detox over Reformation to be released first.
When is part 2 dropping ?
-
great interview Eddie, props.
glad to see Warren G is releasing another album.
-
done with it. the more and more i read, more and more i feel reformation and detox are FAR away :-X :-\
props though..good 2 hear bout warren and focus
-
props for the feedback guys!
When is part 2 dropping ?
I'm not gonna commit to a date since some of these dudes get upset if it doesn't drop, but i'm thinking later this week.
-
J Wells is a funny dude..
-
Thanks Eddie, good part 1
-
THERE IS NO D&D STUDIOS ANYMORE SADLY, DJ PREMIER HAS HEADQUARTERZ STUDIO THO... I WISH BISHOP ASKED ABOUT THE NATE DOGG/DETOX SITUATION
CAUSE I SWEAR IF CROOKED & DR DRE DONT DROP THIS YEAR IM GONNA FORCE MYSELF TO STOP CHECKIN FOR EM, HAHA
;)
IMPOSSIBLE
-
Propz Eddie, dope interview, Bishop is a real mafuckin dude and is hilarious lol. And like Luna said the more and more i read these interviews, the more it seems like there never coming out, i highly doubt Detox will come this year, which means The Reformation would be coming until like mid 09 LOL!!!
-
So many views, so little replies? Keep it coming
-
done with it. the more and more i read, more and more i feel reformation and detox are FAR away :-X :-\
as you may know i respect different views, and i agree about the reformation, but how come you felt that detox is far away?
i mean i still have my doubts for a 2008 release, but i feel it hasn't been so close to a detox release since 2004 :)
by the way, eddie, may i ask if bishop says anything about calitroit metropolis in part 2 of the interview?
-
here we go again, Same-o shit dogg, just a different Game....(DMX)...
Now this bitch ass Bishop lamont talking about J wells, how he wanted to Put hands on him...Its funny, i have seen that Comment b4........... :-X

yes! and to the other dude who asked about "Metropolis", i think there might be a little something on that, but there's not much more to know. if you liked "caltroit" you're gonna like this.
thanks for the feedback guys!

ok thanks, yeah i ordered calitroit a few days ago, now that it's finally in stock over here 8)
-
great interview, mad props man.
I have to say, so far i much prefer bishop as an interviewee than as a rapper! still anticipating an album if one comes but up til now, to me, bishop has been much more compelling in interviews than he has on the mic.
-
I always repeat myself when I come in these interview threads, but y'all mofos just get the job done so well every fuckin' time.
Dope interview once again. Real good lookin' with the follow up questions in there, y'all pros. Keep 'em coming too, you're killing the rest with these.
-
cool interview. happy to see my question in there! ;D 'now its just corny' sums it up really. looking foward to part 2. thanks guys 8)

i dunno..its always the same..i wanna hear from dre and even that ain't concrete
-
Dope interview. 8)
-
When will part 2 be up?
-
Props for the interview, i've been anticipating this for time! But i must admit im more and more worried about when Bishop's album will come out, cos i personally dont see Detox dropping in 08 and then if it were to drop in 09, surely it would only drop during the peak months which are summer or the 4th quarter, so when exactly does the Reformation fit in? I cant see it dropping straight after Detox cos that will still have buzz, and his single will have to be released a couple months in advance, and what happens if that doesnt do well? I just hope Bishop doesnt end up like Hitman :(
-
Why do you guys not see Detox dropping in 08? It's only February!
-
Why do you guys not see Detox dropping in 08? It's only February!
^ i asked that before in this topic too ;)
i don't get it either. even though i'm not 100% confident that it's coming this year, i still feel that it has not been so close to a detox release since 2004.
and like i said before i respect different views, but negativity to back up statements is pointless.
-
there's just no basis for anyone to say that. no one here works for the record label or has any connection to dre, so why say that?
-

true ;)
there seems to be no leak in area51 :D
-
Interesting interview, as always of course.
I really hope that Detox will drop in '08. It will at least be a breath of fresh air (hopefully) in today's rap industry. Generally speaking, rap music's been boring as hell lately, aside from a few exceptions of course.
-
it really seems like Detox is going to be released one day... 8)

Its because theres been like 100 dates and its never come out, and different shit is always being said about it, it just doesnt look like a album thats going to drop soon from what we have seen so far, and in interview after interview!!!

good interview, funny shit tho,i forgot about submiting a question for it,when i first read it,i was like what the fucc? hahahahahahha yell

there's just no basis for anyone to say that. no one here works for the record label or has any connection to dre, so why say that?
even DJ Khalil in that video about Reason software says that Detox will 'probably come out next year', thats why i dont think it will come out in 08, maybe Dre's tryna make Bishops The Reformation detox part 2 ???
-

Definition of probably (adverb)
almost certainly; very likely; apparently; in all likelihood
i think that's the best answer he can give; cause if he used the word definately, he would have excluded the possibility of detox not coming out this year.
i suggest you (re-)read the Dawaun parker interview ( part 3 talks a bit about detox and the release date)
by the way, i'm not saying you should have faith in a 2008 release date; it's just that i think you used a bad example to back up your statement.

Havent read the dewaun Parker interview, but i just cant see Dre dropping this year, just look at all the albums which are meant to be comming out, 50, G-Unit, Stat, Eve, Eminem (probably), Busta and i know all of these arent Aftermath albums but in some way they are all affiliated with Dre and he has something to do with them so i doubt he'll drop at the same time. Im not saying it 100% wont come out this year but im 99.9% sure it won't (ino i have no basis but its my opinion)

again, i respect that you have that feeling, but based on your arguments, i don't see how you're 99,9% confident about detox not coming in 2008.
i mean, the 2008 album release schedule for aftermath/shady/G-unit/interscope is not known to us.
yes it was true that Detox was put on hold a few years ago, so dre could concentrate on "his" artists.
but at this point we don't know which album comes first. i can imagine however that Interscope is more than willing to put out Detox this year ( i think it's safe to say that a Detox release would be platinum certified).
so hopefully you can come up with better arguments ;)
-
I'm pretty sure that the Khalil interview was in 07, he talks about mixing the Jim Jones record and how it's gonna come out soon, when that record came out in January 08. So, the interview was probably in Dec 07.
-
Stat ain't droppin an album , after being signed for 4 years he's done , Eve ain't droppin and isn't on the Math anymore, Busta ain't droppin an album in 08 (late 09, early 2010) and 50 ain't droppin in 08 neither.. only albums which are probably sure to be released this year are G Unit, Em and Buck from what he said (not convinced about that though ..)

but you probably agree with me that we can't really judge whether those projects cause a delay for detox, since we don't really know which one is first to drop.
-
¨^^^^^ yep, anyways no album would delay Detox ... this argument is BS , if Detox was ready, Interscope would drop it 1st ... the release date of Detox is on Dre , not Interscope ...
-

true ;)
the only thing that bothers me is side projects; i mean, for example in 2006 he put Jay-Z's album and Snoop's album on a higher priority than Detox.
offcourse that doesn't necessary mean that sideprojects always get a higher priority than Detox, but it's a possibility ( i assume Dre is done with his part of the next Eminem album by now though).
-
believe me is detox was ready to drop it would never be delayed, interscope would put all its tip men into gettin that well marketed, EVERYONE would get delayed for that shit, its not about interscope holding dre back, its about dre giving them the album once its ready. i have no expectations on when it will drop, like y'all said, theres nothing to prove it'll drop this year and nothing to prove it will not. I think the interesting part was that they had a deadline of 15th jan but i think i'm sure they had an album done by then but i dont think he really had much buzz outside hiphop forums. I aint even gon lie, i think feel on it was bangin but he aint made a hit yet. Until he aint gotta hit record out his shit aint droppin. So i think interscope and dre realised that even though it would have been nice to drop bishop 1st...kinda like SSLP and then 2001 followed by MMLP....that is alot mo difficult to do this time around. Detox will introduce the world to bishop but now the other problem is he may become a hittman nigga, what if cats aint feeling his shit? hittman was branded boring when 2001 dropped and people felt he wasnt the right followup to snoop from the chronic, then what? his album is pretty much ready, they just making more and more records because there is no release date. Thats just natural when u working on aftermath.
Anyways props on what u done so far, nice to know i didnt miss this shit because i wasnt sure if this was done or not because y'all been talking about it for so long. By the way, is this interview very recent?
props
