I have to quote a post of mine i did after the previous game.
Odom is probably the best surprise. Since Lakers acquired Gasol he's starting to play like a monster. You can see he feels a lot better now that he can share the ball more, and be the 3rd offensive option of the team, with no pressure on him. He's playing like a great role player, focusing on rebounds and assists. The numbers: he's averaging 12.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists since Gasol was acquired. Isn't it impressive for the 3rd best guy on the team? (arguably the 4th, with Bynum back). I'm very happy we didn't have to trade him to get Pau: if Lamar keeps playing this way with Bynum back, we will be a really nice team. Some other things i've seen from Lamar is how he plays well when Gasol is in the post with the ball. He goes inside without the ball very well, and Gasol is a 7 footer who can pass the ball, so i see a lot of potential in this type of play. I mean if Lamar plays as a 3 and he goes inside this way, he can be a real problem for the opponent defences. Other than that, i've seen him playing good defence. Lakers rarely got abused inside with Odom and Gasol on the floor, and it's a very good feeling.
Let me just update the stats: 4 double-doubles and 1 triple-double in 7 games.
Rebounds: 13.0
Assists: 4.9
Pts: 13.4

I just don't understand why it took us getting Gasol for him to play like this. He's capable of putting up those numbers every night.
-
Less pressure?
More motivation? (team is ready to contend)

gasol opened things up alot for lamar odom, plus you now have gasol whos a great passer and kobe getting him great looks

Well...he beasted in 2006 and kept it up until his major shoulder injury in '07...That's why I got upset when punk ass Laker fans kept hollering about trading him. Dude is a major asset...and he simply plays better without the pressure of being expected to score every time he touches the ball. The most underrated player in the league...PeACe

how can anyone laugh at Odom? seriously
in an era where most players are all about me, me, me , me. averaging 30 points, and 50 shot attempts, having the biggest SHOE contract, ect. ect. it's good to see that there are still players out there who focus on the grind of the game. it's like i said in my second post. i like odom because he plays how i use to play, grabbin all the re's, scoring when the other guys are doubled/cold, doing the intangibles that helps teams get to the next level. yeah he's not iverson, yeah he's not wade, yeah he's not, bron, yeah he's not any of those things. but what he is though is the all important role player+ that elevates everyones game. to ME that's just as important as a plyaer who scored 30 ponits a game or a big man that dominates the middle.
