Boo-Hoo...
Try Living In America, They Never Even Release Singles Over Here, EXcept On Wax.
Snoop Hasn't Released A Single CD Single This Time Around, In The States. The Only Peeps Singles We Get Over Here Are New Acts Just Signed To Labels...

Every Once In A While They'll Be A Single... Remixes, Sometimes They'll Be A Single...
R&B Do Singles, So That's Why The Mariah Carey One...
Some Artists Do Singles (Outkast)
Snoop Doesn't, Dre Doesn't, DPG Doesn't, It Just Sucks :( For Instance, Dre Released, What, 4 Singles Off 2001? We Didn't Get Any... EMINEM Doesn't Even Release Singles Over Here!
Wax Is Vinyl, Records! Come On Yall.... You CAN Get Singles On Wax In The U.S., My Fav. Spot Gets Everything (And I Mean EVERYTHING), But You Have To Play Them On A Record Player :(
-
damn we get all the Dre and Eminem ones on singles.
(lee - wax is vinyl aka 12" )
-
If eminem doesn't release singles then how was Stan Number 1 (in Americea)
-
I DON'T THINK LAW LOW HAS BEEN RELEASED YET AS SNOOP DOGG ONLY JUST GOT RELEASED ITS PROBABLY ON NUMBER 40 ON AIRPLAY
-
lay low is out here (ireland) Is it not out in the uk yet ??
-
the shop i go to has a whole section of cd and tape singles,,,,,,,alot of people buy them to check out their style b 4 they buy the albulm,,,,,,we also have almost everything on vinyl.,,,i get shit at cost :)
-
lee - not yet.. i've only just seen Snoop Dogg on vinyl.
I'm on a mailing list from www.juno.co.uk I buy most 12"s that come out from there.. which is usually a month before the CD single is out.
-
i just check amazon.co.uk they usually hav all singles on sale n its not up yet so i doubt it out yet here in england

Stan Was #1 Due To Radio Play, Not Single Sales...
We Can Get Imports, But They're At Least 10 Bucks, Which You Can Almost Buy The Album For...
Nothing Off His Last Album Was Released Here, I Dunno Why They Do That...
-
over here we get the videos on our cds thats y i hate import cds cos they always in cardboard sleeve things n hav like 1 or 2 trax nuthin special but uk singles r usually much better i got both sorts free so its all good
-
The difference btw US/UK is due to markets. Over here in the UK, more money can be earned by record labels by promoting singles, usually pop. they expect big opening weeks then the singles disappear.
whereas in the US labels spend more time promoting albums, for long term sales. I dont know how the singles 'charts' are formed over there. im assuming it radio play.
labels in the US havent traditionally earned much from singles, thats why they cost too much. they'd rather you buy the album
-
man that sux... number one should be based on sales not how much dick the radio stations are riding.
-
...And if we do find singles they are most likely imported, (and very expensive).
-
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT Y'ALL BUT BASICALLY ANY SONG YOU SEE ON TV OR HEAR ON RADIO OR BASICALLY ANYTHING RELEASED YOU CAN BUY AT ALL OF MY RECORD STORES BOTH ON CD AND CASSETTE
YOU CAN BUY EVERY SINGLE DRE, EMINEM, SNOOP, OUTKAST, XZIBIT, 2PAC....SHIT ANYTHING AS A SINGLE ON CD AND TAPE HERE Y'ALL MUST GOT SOME CRAPPY STORES IF YOU CAN'T FIND A SIMPLE SINGLE, SHIT I CAN GET ALL THOSE SINGLES AT TARGET.....
-
The only time I remember singles selling a lot was when muthaphukkaz was broke. Back when tapes were like 7.99 and CDs were like 12.99, single were just on tape for like 2.99 at the Wherehouse. Then slowly that shit started picking up, and sky rocketed when Blockbuster bought their ass. But back in them days, I owned all kinds of singles, hell $3, you damn right I owned the Dre Day single, and basically any other song I liked, but heard that their albums were shitty. Now though, it seems since most people have money, then singles are rearer.
Damn Bill Clinton, fixing the economy, I can't wait until George Bush fucks shit up like his dad. J/K, though Bush is going to fuck something up to make us broke again.
-
I think the record labels have been promoting the albums more then singles. It doesn't make since to waste money to put out singles when you can promote the album more. Back in 98 Master P could sell albums without putting out a video, single etc, just by promoting and letting people know when the album was coming out.
-
Bottom line is singles do not make the label any money, selling albums does. That's why you rarely see any singles being released these days. I think the last Snoop single I've seen in stores was Woof.
-
thats what i said. does anyone even read my posts anymore?
-
Hey, thats what republicans do best.
-
We mostly get singles as Imports for like 12.99...Shit, I aint payin that much for a single...Most of the singles like the ones with videos and shit are imports...We never get any Singles by Dre, Emine, DPG, Kurupt, Snoop for a reasonable price, because they are all imports...Shit sux..
Oh yea, and I doubt releasing it on tape would help a lot since your sister would've been the only one buying it...
-
I don't own one single. Its kinda pointless to me.
-
It's not pointless...They have Videos, Insturmentals, Remixes, and Acapellas, that aren't available on the whole LP...
-
it can come in handy for the broker peeps,I'm like 13 right? and when i go the cd shop i have no more than about 20 on me, not enough for me to get pac's greatest hits which has hit 'em up,now hit 'em up is only on greatest hits and the how do u want it single, i wanted hit 'em up, i only got about 10 bucks on me, what do i do? cop how do u wnat ti single and get a nice chunk of all eyez on me and hit 'em up to sustain me until i can cop all eyez and greatest hits, my fave thing about singles is instrumentals, since i'm on mc i need all the beats i cna get you know. btw i should start recording today, wish me luck. peace-Tanjint
-
Yeah good luck - by the way Hit em up is on DR Greatest Hits as well
Lay Low hasn't been released here
And Trauma you said 4 singles came off 2001 - Still, Forgot, Next Episode and ? what was the other one
I like buying singles - Back up Ho - I luv that song and it was off Snoop Dogg the single
UK peeps buy that single to get that!
Oh yeah S Club baby!
Back to number 1
Rachellllll!
-
Jay-
There were only 3 singles released off of "2001".
It was rumored a while back that "The Watcher Remix" would become a single w/ Rakim & Hittman.
Don't know what happened there.
-
Big Ego's should have come out but I guess Dre's ego was too big too let a song out which had Royce and Hittman on
-
I agree 100%...a song like "Big Egos" was perfect for the final single. It was a slow, dark song that could of exposed Hittman better also. Then again I could see why Dre didn't go for a 4th...no need.
-
Well yeah singles have there advantages but I prefer buying the whole album instead of the singles. Since alot of the times artists don't release their best songs as singles, only the ones the get mainstream attention. That's my opinion.
