Does only Nate have a deal with Elektra or is Elektra the distributor for Dogg Foundation?
-
i just remebered Elektra is bitches.
They fucked up Del
-
Yeah they are far from being a good label but they have decent distributing. I guess no one knows the question to my answer :'(
-
i saw somewhere that its both.......so maybe he can finally come out soon!
-
About damn time. Does he have anyone signed to Dogg Foundation?
-
i think he has some woman he met while on tour...in some magazine......i read he met her on tour..and flew her to cali to record some tracks..
-
Dogg Foundation is a Branch off Elektra...like Aftermath is a branch off Interscope...So far he's the only one OFFICIALY signed...
-
Dogg Foundation Handles Recording, Signing, And Paying The Artists. That's How Aftermath And Doggystle Are, Too.
Each Album Released, Needs Distribution. For Instance, Nate Needs To Get About 100 Thousand Of HIs Albums Printed Up. That Probably Costs 100,000 Dollars... Maybe More. He Also Needs Promotion For The Album.... That Could Cost Anywhere From Nothing To 30 Million Dollars (Big Stars, Like M. Jackson, NSuck, Etc.)... He Also Needs The Albums Shipped To Stores. To Do This, You Have To Have Connections With Stores, An Account With Them (For Payment After The Album Sells), And Actually KNOW About The Store, You Know?
Just Getting Them To A Store Or Two In Everytown, As Well As Wal Mart, Target, Best Buy, Etc, Could Cost ANOTHER 100 Thousand Dollars, Or More.
Now, Nates Got A Problem. How The Hell Is Dogg Foundation (Or Doggystyle, For Snoop, Or Aftermath, For Dre) Which Is Owned By Him, Gonna Pay For This? Nate Probably Doesn't Even Have The Minimum 300 Thousand Dollars (For Only 100,000 Albums! He Probably Needs Even More, Right?) Extra That He'll Need To Get The Album Out For Sale. Plus, He Doesn't Have Record Store Contacts In EACH City In America, PLUS, He Doesn't Have Any Accounts With Them, Or Have Any Way To Get Them There. So What's He Do?
He Signs A Distribution Deal! He Shops The Cd Around, To Find Someone That Will Take A Chance On Him, Based On His Past Album Sales, Record, And The Sound Of the New Album. Elektra Is The One He Chose... They'll Print The Cd's Up, Ship Them Out, And Promote The Album For Him. In Return, He'll Give them A Percentage Of The Sales, And Dogg Foundation, His Label, Will Keep The Rest.
Daz Does The Same Thing... the D.P.G. Album Was A DPG Records/Southwestern Distributing Album. It's Almost IMPOSSIBLE To Make An Album Without A Distribution Deal.... You'd Have To Get The Cd's To The Stores Yourself, That's Crazy.
So, The Answer To Your Question Is He's Singed to Dogg Foundation, And Dogg Foundation Signed A Distribution Deal For This Album With Elektra... That's A Good Thing, Unless He Signed Like A 10 Album Deal Or Something.
Daz, And Snoop Have Been Smart, They've Got Doggystyle And dpg Records Signed To 1 Album Distribution Deals.... Doggy's Angels Was TVT, Eastsidaz Was TVT, Bad Azz Is Priority (Because He's Still Signed to Priority With A Deal), Snoop Was Priority (Because He's still Signed, Too), Kokane Is Aftermath (Which Distributes With Interscope, I Guess), Etc., Etc.
-
I knew all about the distribution process. Thanks man. I hope Nate becomes successful, he deserves it.
-
you know..the whole music bizz is fucked up...lol
lots and lots of middle men.......
Takes alot of money to break even knowadays.........i guess there is a trade off when you go to a major......
Bayside Entertainment must have some good azz connections.....cause as far as Bay artist are concerned..all the stuff the distribute is easily available up here in the northwest..which is nice to know.....
-
D3 sucks...Thats why Death row aint makin shit...
-
Yeah you definitely gotta have the right hook-ups to get big in the rap industry. You don't wanna get stuck with a Tomika Wright.
-
another alternative with distribution is signing one-stop deals for each city. works out a lot cheaper, plus you can specify which regions u think the albums will sell and concentrate on them
that wouldnt be good for nate dogg, but for new artists with smaller fan bases its a good way to go
-
I think number one would be Intersope or Priority...
