LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Jennifer Lopez may be no shrinking violet, but the bombshell actress and pop star has to draw the line somewhere.
So Lopez, 30, sued imprisoned rap mogul Marion ``Suge'' Knight to stop him from marketing a videotape over the Internet that reportedly would have contained grainy footage of her having sex with a former boyfriend.
But the Hollywood superstar dropped her Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit on Friday after Knight's lawyers said no such tape existed -- though he still plans to release an unauthorized film titled: ``J.Lo Uncut: Tha Real Story.''
``My client does not possess a so-called 'sex tape' involving Ms. Lopez and an ex-boyfriend, as was recently reported in the tabloid Star Magazine,'' Knight lawyer Jeffrey Lowy said in a letter to the Latina beauty.
The Star reported on Wednesday that Knight -- a longtime rival of another former Lopez boyfriend, rap impresario Sean ''Puffy'' Combs -- had obtained a videotape of her making love to an unidentified man and planned to sell it on the Internet.
The Star and the New York Post newspaper then both quoted Lopez publicist Alan Nierob as saying that he doubted that the tape ever existed.
Friday, Lopez went to court seeking a restraining order that would stop Knight from selling his movie on the grounds that it would constitute a violation of her privacy.
That attempt became unnecessary after lawyers for Knight said that the report was not true.
The Bronx-born Lopez, who is still basking in the success of her chart-topping album ``J.Lo'' and her last movie, ``The Wedding Planner'' which opened at No. 1 at the U.S. box office, will next appear in the romantic thriller ``Angel Eyes,'' opening this month

The packaging for the J. Lo Uncut: The Real Story video, set for release by Suge Knight Films, Inc. this summer, features a parental advisory sticker and cover copy that suggests that Jennifer Lopez appears in sexual situations.
Copy on the video packaging describes the tape as "raw and uncut" and vows to reveal Lopez and former boyfriend Sean "Puffy" Combs "like never before." Comments on the back of the video reference reenactments, and bill the video as a comedic look at the couple.
The video packaging was unveiled after last week's claims from Knight's attorney Jeffrey M. Lowy that Knight does not possess a so-called "sex tape" of Lopez. Lowy, however, did not reply to LAUNCH's questions about the videotape cover by press time.
Lopez's attorney Stanton L. Stein was denied a temporary restraining order to stop Knight from releasing the video Friday (May 11). However, Stein maintains that the suit has not been dropped, as he seeks to confirm whether or not the contents of the J. Lo Uncut video violates Lopez's rights.
