Title: How do you listen to instrumentals?
Post by: Invincible on March 08, 2008, 08:50:49 PM
Just wondering, do you people save instrumentals just for your computer or do you ever put them on in your car? I've never done it, I'm just seeing if any of you lot do.

I used to love to freestyle over them, but it's been a long time since I've done that.

Hell yeah... on the way to work, now that I have my own office, I have like 6 cds with nothing but instrumentals on them... when there's no lyrics to get in the way, you can think a hell of a lot better.

It's funny when my old, white boss comes in, listens the instrumental playing, and then says, "Nice song there, Steve," LOL

i agree with this spanish monkey, rap lyrics for the most part ruin some beats especially if there is good effort put into making those instrumentals. take "pause 4 porno" of chronic 2001 for example, its the only skippable thing on the album but the instrumental is one of the most chilled out introspective beats ive ever heard....so i fuck with instrumentals all the time

its very bad...I thought you were listening to them in your house but now that you mentioned that its in your car that changes everything...discontinue the use of instrumentals while mobile ASAP.

Listening to instrumentals in your car damages your brain. For example, it may prevent you from picking up on sarcasm (this is just an example)

I dunno, to me most hiphop songs lack a pretty fundamental apect when there are no vocals, unless it's some very creative and rather elaborate stuff. But when I wanna listen to instrumental music, I'm not gonna go with hiphop.

Miles Davis, Mogwai, Frank Zappa, John Coltrane, Squarepusher, Ventian Snares, John Zorn................I could come up with a nice list of artists who make/made crazy ass non-vocal sound, but hiphop usually won't do it for me when no one raps, unless it's like a B-Boyish soundtrack to something

Beats gotta be REAL tight for me to listen to them like that, but alotta times I need words on the tracks to use the backgorund music. The vocals, weak or strong, add to the song.

I save them mostly, but sometimes I like to listen to some hot beats.
