-
his new single:

-
this track is so smooth 8)
-
"California" - Sounds more like MC Magic from NB Ridaz. Fingazz's beats are more west coast, MC Magic is bordering Texas sound.
@64Impala - That's not his single anymore.
Single Release History
1. Stuck With You (feat. Fingazz)
2. Just One Of Those Days
3. Do It
4. My Chick
None of these singles generated a buzz. Until he releases a hit single, Twelve Eighteen Pt. II may end up being scrapped altogether.
-
that just one of those days is dope man i liek it i heard it before but he should stop wasting time becuase he will not get a huge buzz like summer times or wutever that bullshit song was called i hated that shit
-
I never really listened to this guy. I don't know if Mr. Criminal and Mr. Capone-E are really considered Chicano rap, but I like them 2 a lot.

Funny you said that. Despite the Paki-speculation, he's the only Chicano rapper who's achieved semi-mainstream success.
As for the true Chicano rappers, the brown and Mexican-like: they ain't getting shit in the industry except a one-hit wonder pass. Would you agree?

I don't really agree with the whole if you Mexican you Chicano rap thing though. There is a BIG difference music wise from a Capone-E and say a Sick Jacken or Big Duke or someone like that. I would not group them together. The Mexicanz when they were out were str8 hip hop.

I agree to the extent but who knos Mr Capone-e outside of the southwest? so really all the chicano rappers so far have been one hit wonders because they all fail to get a really big nationwide recognition, but im waiting for the day when there is a chicano rapper that is up there makin the hits that are played all across the states....
EDIT
Ok i misread u said SEMI-mainstream well yea but hes just what about Lil Rob i heard summer nights out here in VA and have never heard any Capone-e track out here or heard anyone say his name or even SPM i hear alot of people saying his name....even tho hes not relavent anymore really

Lil Rob's single "Summer Nights" was at #46 in the billboards so he had mainstream success also. Even tho I don't care it wasn't good for him as you can see, because his new album still ain't released.
-
uppin
-
and don't underate chicano rap you might not hear it on the radio especially here in kansas city but you it spreads by word of mouth
-
didnt frost also see some success back in the day?
Yeah. "La Raza." A one hit wonder.
Ain't No Sunshine was a huge hit from the American Me Soundtrack. Also Eastside Rendevous and La Familia were huge singles in the Mid 90's.
Other huge selling Chicano Rappers, Lighter Shade of Brown had On A Sunday Afternoon and Hey DJ that saw huge success and Baby Beesh ended his great run with Suga Suga, now his Baby Bash... lol... Lil' Rob did have radio success with Summer Nights as I heard it on MN radio, and NB Ryders had Lost in Love and So Fly was a huge hit and Sumethin Bout Chu Baby got some good spins in MN and a lot of other stations around the nation.
Chicano Rap will sale depending on the state of Hip-Hop. Ain't even the major artist are going platnum so it's hard to judge Chicano Rap on sales, especially when Chicano Rap has the same base that actually does not get their music from the net and the base of sales comes in mom and pops and swap meets, so Chicano Rap sales actually stay pretty stable.

Since I see Latinos as a whole... and hate spliting Cubans and Puerto Ricans from Chicanos... I usually add them to my arguments. Afterall, Cypress Hill and Mellow Man Ace were huge in getting Chicano Rap seen as Mellow Man Ace worked with ALT, Frost and Slow Pain, and Cypress Hill gave Frost props in their debut album on the song Latin Lingo. Though Frost dissed them later... and Cypress then dissed him on Insain in the Brain... lol. But they were all important to helping put up Chicano Rap and Latin Rap as a whole and allowed for Reggierton to be as big as it was by already having that Latin taste in Rap.

I'd say you go to the wrong swap meets... lol. They bootlegs... but they got real CDs too. Hell... the lady in the Rialto Swap Meet had pictures with all the artist of the DPG and all that.. and the actual CDs in the case

Here's why I said bootlegs: while I was talking with Reina of ReinaProductions (promotes Slow Pain and Cuete Yeska), she told me (and confirmed) that all the Chicano Rap albums (not any of the main stuff like from Death Row, Bad Boy, No Limit, etc.) that are sold on swap meets are stolen material. Only those. If you go to a swap meet, check the track listings. Look for those songs on the net, see where they originally came from. You'll be surprised as to how many songs rappers like Mr. Shadow, Slow Pain and Chingo Bling get stolen.
Don't believe me? Ask Reina.
