You're right! I agree 200%! What a waste of time... >:(
-
i agree , i can listen only 2 o3 tracks , really disappoint
i prefer Blue Carpet
-
i feel you on this one mate, there's a couple of decent tracks, 4 at the most....mind you i don't expect a good album from him anymore anyway....so its as i expected..
-
I have to disagree. While I don't think its anywhere near classic level, I do like what he did on this record. Only about 4 tracks I don't like, everything else I can dig. There are plenty of tracks that are really good:
Press Play
SD Is Out
Neva Have To Worry (how can you not like this one?)
Sexual Eruption
Life Of Tha Party (really grew on me)
Waste Of Time (dope as fuck)
Sets Up
Deez Hollywood Nights
My Medicine
Those Gurlz
One Chance (Make It Good)
Can't Say Goodbye
All those tracks are fire. The others are average. I really don't like Gangsta Like Me, Let It Out, Riding In My Chevy and hate to say it but Cool. Maybe they will grow on me but those are the only ones I'm skipping. Everything else I like. It think you're being way too hard on the record. Listen again.

its got nothing to do with being able to ' HEAR ' the record mate....Its just not to everyones taste.
I'm not pointing fingers at anyone but Snoop could try his hand at any type of music and some of you guys would say its good no matter how bad it sounds.......
Snoop's music is definitely diverse nowdays but IMO it don't suit him and I ain't feeling it, I must admit it has grown on me since the 1st time I heard it but its still just an average album IMO
-
Press Play is not even that good. Sorry but the Dogg Pound (Daz & Kurupt) just sound so washed up nowadays.

There just seems to be alot of slower songs on this one....not too many upbeat songs that get you hyped up.

lol you can't hate the music on it. If you have an idea of good music, you would hear that the production on this album is very professional and well-elabourated. It's just good music, no matter if you like it, or feel it or not. You can't say it sounds bad, because the music is good. You can say you don't like it, that's your opinion, but as far as it comes to the music, it's top notch produced.
-
I'm feelin' about half of this CD, ya know, I can't listen 2 these Dirty South style songs...

Nah - you could say it's mixed and mastered professionally,I'll agree with that, but apart from that most of it sounds like cheapy-ass synths, wack drum machines, really tired easy listening style slow jam funk type of stuff - it sounds bad
-
It may be good quality music in terms of production and professionalism and it may be 'well-elaborated' but in my opinion I don't like Snoop rapping over slowish/RnB/more commercial type beats. As I said, I think the album is average especially in comparison to some of his other work.
Its up to each individual's opinion if they like certain music but there are a lot of fans on this forum who will say anything Snoop does is excellent just as there are some who might say everything he does is poor. From what I have seen and heard from different people about this album, the feedback seems more negative than positive.
I personally don't like the majority of the production on this album regardless on how well put together it is but that is just my opinion.

Album Is Dope
-
hell yeah about 10 of songs off this album isnt shit :-X
-
The best song on there to me is Those Girls...Press Play isnt Quiks best work by a long shot....Neva Have To worry is ok....Gangsta Like me is ok.....Staxx In My Jeans is a Dirty South attempt which i hate but its not terrible....overall Snoop is trying too hard to be old school....hes a gangsta rapper not part of the Gap Band or Morris Day.
-
i think a bunch of you are use to listening to that force feed bullshit...because this album bangs.
i'm not feeling like 3 1/2 tracks on this album. one the best album to come out this year...next up is that az album.
8)
-
I agree too, his album is pure shit!
A guy like him with such experience should come with some good bomb tracks and not like a new guy in the rap game ... happy I didn't buy his album! ;D
-
I do not think its Garbage, I still play it the only track i cant stand is the track "why did you leave me" but the rest is really good , you can tell from this album that he is trying to clear his image as a gangsta rapper to a grown man, i think thats the main Theme of The album...probably why he's always suited & booted when he goes on talk shows and stuff. I think wit this album he's trying to say "Look Yall i know yall hate me for promoting that Gang violence and shit, but look i am sorry and i am growing so can yall accept me" well thats what i think atleast..Oh and i think its a Good thing that Snoop has 3 legendary peeps on his team, u cant go wrong with Teddy Riley, Dj Quik and Charlie Wilson!
-
Ego trippin album is pure garbage!
-
that would be cool if the album was produced by Battlecat and Daz...
-
maybe 4 or 5 tracks I don't like but the rest is dope 8)
-
its not that good...the lyrics sound rushed and the beats sound forced.
-
how many more threads of these do we need, besides its just anotha hate thread, instead of hatin' on tha new Snoop album ya'll should come out wit' da "Everything since 2002 is wack" click so we kno wat 2 expect ahead of time...
CHUUCH
-
I played it once and got sick of it, press play is good but nothing great. not my type so i'll put it in the trash..no hate from me, some ppl like it
-
the album sounds fresh. its dope no doubt. this will be one of the best albums this year.
-
the albums real nice and the music like someone else has already said is great. Whether you like it or not is a different point but musically it is top notch and mixed very well. LOL@battlecat and daz being anywhere near the level of teddy or quik. The neptunes beat and the rick ross beat are monsters aswell
pz
-
This album isn't garbage...but its pretty average...I dunno why so many people in this fourm like it so much...Press Play, sets up, and couple other songs are dope...thats it...
-
Cool is the greatest Snoop track ever.
-

i feel the same too

the new Snoop album is crazy! "Never Hafta Worry" and "Cant Say Goodbye" are prolly top 10 Snoop tracks of all time maybe. "Press Play", "SD is Out" "Whateva You Do" "Cool" are fuckin nuts! People who dont like this album have REAL BAD TASTE in music IMO. Either wanabe gangsters or some people who want Doggystyle part 2 dont like this album.
-

Hell yeah i thought the shit was garbage this nigga is the opposite of wine he gets worse with age
-
I personal thing its a Good album... from a growth prespective.... i like gangsta snoop no doubt... but contemporary snoopy aint bad... there is a lil bit for everyone on this record.... in xxl snoop said he want to make something for everyone kinda how kanye dun it... from that angle i think he did good. i didnt care much for the track for his wife.... but i aint doggin it... im sure she should enjoy it... she must be EgO Trippin of everyone in the world who heard this record having to hear snoop's love song to her.... but we dont need to hear that shit... but fuck it... He'z Ego Trippin. I wouldnt give a fuck either... niggah making money regardless 8)... of what we say on this forum.
-
i thought it was pretty good, not the best ive heard in a while, but consistent with most of his albums. i like how he did some expirimenting.
i think the only people who call this album garbage are the ones who still havent let go of that g-funk sound. just like east coast heads who still havent let go of boom bap. its not 93' no more, and snoop aint 19 or 20 either....its time to accept a little change for once.
-

Its not that. Look at the difference between a Jay-Z, Nas etc and Snoop. Dude is basically a R&B singer or something, he dont have to rap about gangsta shit. He can rap about shit thats going on in his life, or in the world in a lyricial way or some. Let's keep it real its Snoops name and style thats been keepin him "alive" ever since Doggstyle, even though a couple of his albums were pretty good.

its not that i mean to diss because i grew up on g-funk, but i accepted a long time ago that its outdated. its time for the west to develop a new sound. the south did, and look what happened...although they are sort of at the end of their momentum. the spotlight is up for grabs if another region can musically change thier sound into something fresh.

i wouldnt call snoop an r&b singer just because of two songs. i think a lot of whats going on in his life was covered on this album in one way or another. either way i still think people want him to make another doggystyle and its just not gonna happen, dude is almost 40.

the south is NOWHERE near the end of their momentum, ol'skool hip hop heads wanna believe that but it aint goin' nowhere, actualy they mite b tha only 1's hear when the game of hip hop is out of tha mainstream. they got EVERYTHING in tha south from OG scratch and MC rappers 2 party anthem (t)rappers. tha east and tha west r in a box, if u go outside that domain then ur ALREADY FINISHED, look at how ppl are Trippin' off Ego Trippin and Snoop is an OG in tha game- not even just tha west coast.... but then again this is only dubcc so it's expected. MOST ppl on here just wanta say some negative shit 2 start a conversation, but in all reality they recognize tha good shit thats bein' put out there. if u notice its ALWAYS tha SAME complaints- its never really anything LEGITAMIT 2 put out there and say besides.... oh he shoulda did that or it doesnt have that sound or its tha same ol bullshit thats already out thats been put out 10000000 times or fuck it its just wack... its all BULLSHIT

Ok the Snoop Ego Trippin threads are getting a little out of hand.
Bottom Line- You dig it or you don't. You can analyze why someone likes/dislikes a album till your face turns as blue as this forum, but everybody has a opinion and ya really can't change it too much if you wanted to.
-
^^^ agreed. but most ppl are bored out there fuckin minds 2 b postin on here like that or its just tha fact that theres a lack of substance on this board and ppl waanaa change it. i still c new threads on CMW's 1st album and Doggystyle so i guess its wats expected.

I don't mind the threads about older albums. But 100 threads on Ego Trippin is cool/garbage and 10 pages of yes it is, no it's not and fuck you is getting out of hand.

it sort of is getting near the end considering that southern artists arent selling like they used to. they have the radio on lock tho. i'd say from about 04-06 was the peak of thier run. they got a rapper who had the #1 song in the whole country and still couldnt hit plat, ross might not even top the success of his last album, young joc flopped, shop boyz flopped, webbie and boosie flopped, shawty lo flopped, and lil jon still cant secure a release date for his album.
thats why im sayin any region who can reinvent thier sound to something fresh and catchy will eventually take over. im not hating, but just callin it like it is.

NONE OF THEM CAN!
THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND DIVERSITY!
CHUUUUUUCH!
diversity? i dont think people listen to snoop to hear him rap on south beats or sing pop shit. this is one of his worst albums. at least blue carpet he had a consistent sound. instead of having quik mix the album, he shoulda had him produce it.
-
press play! i know im playin the stereotype hyping up quik like loads of people but this track alone is worth coppin the album...the rest is cool as well...someone needs to tell snoop that quik shoulda produced it all...
-

Yeah I had said that in a previous thread. Snoop could rock that R&G style perfectly over some Quik beats. I am glad they hooked up for this album. Hopefully they will work more often with each other.

exactly.
i think that was what UCC was trying to tell; stop being biased about the album and force others to feel the same way as you.
respect everyone's opinion otherwise people will continue to expose the contradiction
-
I guess its time to realize Snoop dog ego trippin and the old snoop dog is two different products. Im a HUGE fan of the old product, dre-beats, nate on the hooks. Always a chill beat with some gangster-lyrics, or a hot beat with a nice chorus. Snoop on himself making songs like sexual seduction and other girl-aimed songs dosnt really please me as a fan of lay low or deep cover, two different products, but when I see the snoop dog name I expect the old stuff, probally time to get with that aint gonna happen. Aint saying snoop dog is bad, because he obviously still makes great music, just for another audience
-
I agree with OP, but i can't even bump press play..

The instrumentation on this record is ridiculous dude. Sonically, it is right and SNOOP is just more on his grown man then being gangsta and/or pimpish. I'd say he could've done without 3 songs but the rest are brilliant. Even the south songs are pretty good. I think he did a great job all around but to each his own.
CHUUUUUUCH!

it is R&B not singy pop shit like you say . it doesn't matter why people listen to snoop . they need to learn to grow. snoop has grown up & is acting his age . he is not acting like punk wannabe babby gangster . snoop dogg also went back to his R&B roots he grew up on this album.the older you get the more school you get . you just going to learn to live with it . this is not even close to snoop's worse album. this might be one of snoops best. you fans are going to have to grow up & get your grown man on.you can't stay gangsta for all you life .

COOL COOL 8)

ya'll just dont want 2 except it, BASK in ur mind of old livin and bad taste/// cuz i dam sure cant change it
-
True...Life of the party, And that Quik Joint thats hot. The rest is a joke. I mean it's acceptable. but it aint Top Dogg standards. I guess he shouldn't have said that he don't need dre. Doggystyle still remains the album that defines Snoop. Yes doggystyle, the Dre produced album. No limit top dogg and Blue carpet treatment was hot too...dre produced a few joints on there...
-
i dont like this album... its mediocre slightly mediocre by the way i hate that sexual seduction shit...
i do like the remix he did to that o.g. cool , let it out, staxx in my pocket.. ridin in my chevy NO REAL STANDOUTS on this record NONE
snoop dogg ruined some of the smoothed out beats
