It's a soundtrack,ok,but to me this is without a fuckin doubt a west coast classic.....
take a look @ the tracklist:
1. Way Too Major - Daz Dillinger/Tray Deee
2. Life's So Hard - 2Pac
3. Greed - Ice Cube
4. Get Yo Bang On - Mack 10/AllFrumThai
5. These Days - Nate Dogg/Daz Dillinger
6. Mash For Our Dreams - Storm/Young Noble/Daz Dillinger
7. Free 'Em All - J-Flexx/Tenkamenin
8. Staring Through My Rearview - 2Pac/The Outlawz
9. Devotion - Paradise
10. I Can't Fix It - Jackers
11. Questions - Tech N9ne
12. Hollywood Bank Robbery - The Gang/Snoop Doggy Dogg/Kurupt
1. Made Niggaz - 2Pac/The Outlawz
2. Loc'd Out Hood - Kurupt
3. Gang Related - WC/CJ Mac/Daz Dillinger/Tray Deee
4. Keep Your Eyes Open - O.F.T.B.
5. Lady - 6 Feet/Storm
6. Take A Nigga Like Me - Young Soldierz
7. What Have You Done? - B.G.O.T.I.
8. What's Ya Fantasy - The Outlawz/Daz Dillinger
9. Change To Come, A - J-Flexx/Tenkamenin/Bahamadia/Kool & The Gang/Con Funk Shun
10. Freak Somethin' - Roland
11. Feelin A Good Thang - 2DV
12. Lost Souls - 2Pac/The Outlawz
After Murder Was The Case, this one is the best 'west coast soundtrack'.....
On the Gang Related soundtrack most of the songs are AMAZING,i can't say the same for soundtracks like Above The Rime and Menace To Society....where the only TIGHT songs are Streiht Up Menace and Regulate.
p.s. Gridlock'D is another 'classic wc soundtrack' imho....
-
It's a classic
-
This is one of my favourite west coast songs EVER!!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4PUE1AZGZA
-
Classic album, "Way Too Major", "Gang Related", "Loc'd Out Hood", "Free Em All" and "Staring Through My Rearview" are my favourite tracks there.
-
I still bump Way Too Major from time to time.
-
"Hollywood Bank Robbery" was my jam. Daz did some of his best production work of all time on this soundtrack. "Way Too Major" maybe my alltime favorite Daz track.
-
Bought cause of the "Made Niggaz" song. I still bump from time to time. Yeah, "Hollywood Bank Robbery" is dope. Greatest track on this is "Staring Through My Rearview" I think. My favorite hiphop soundtrack.

"Above The Rim" was more of an R&B soundtrack, actually Dre didn't want any part of it it was all Suges idea. Still a great soundtrack with several classic songs "Regulate", "Big Pimpin", "Dogg Pound 4 Life" to name a few
-
First thing I noticed when this was released back in 97 was that Snoop was only on one song and it was just a feature too. The Dogg was already on his way out at that time...
-
This soundtrack IMO would have put Daz on the map as the next "it" producer if Suge would have let him continue to oversee projects. He did great work on AEOM and Doggfather already. I agree with HighEyeCue, some of Daz's best beats are on this soundtrack. One of the best pure gangsta rap albums of all time.

as i said before all those soundtracks have dope tracks, but lack consistency imo, unlike the regular death row releases during it's heyday

real talk D, even the R&B cuts on here were banging, I loved that Jackers joint "I Can't Fix It""Above The Rim" was more of an R&B soundtrack, actually Dre didn't want any part of it it was all Suges idea. It doesn't have the "big name" classic tracks but its definitely as good as any soundtrack Death Row released IMO, and the production on it is crazy

I usually listen to these soundtracks when I want a change of pace, usually I listen to regular full length albums but once in a while I like to change it up and listen to a bunch of different artists, I understand what you are saying though

Daz was just inredible during his Death Row days. To me, Daz will always be a westcoast legend. Fu*k all the haters. I mean Daz's work on All Eyez on Me, Dogg Food, and Gang related alone make him a legend. I remember after hearing this Gang Related soundtrack that I was salivating for Daz's first solo RR&G.

couldn't have said it better myself. All the way up to 1999 I think Daz did not make a wack beat. The tracks he did with Mike Dean were dope as well. But after I would say his 3rd album he has been very inconsistent to say the least. Does not take away from all the dope tracks he did.

-
C_L_A_S_S_I_C !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one of my fav albums.
-
was listeniing to this last night, amazing soundtrack and slept on a little because it came out in late '97 when Death Row was past its prime, I think it did sell around 2 million though which is what all the other soundtracks did except for "Gridlock'd" which only went gold.
-
Life's So Hard is my favourite track on there!
-
The re-release was even better with the 2 added songs "Going Back To Cali" by YGD and "Wutz Da Deal" by Jr. Knight. Both of those added songs bang too.
-
anyone else lucky enough to find the re-release of the soundtrack (with the Top Dogg and Chocolate Bandit songs) in stores? 8)
I got it homie! That Chocolate Bandit song is AWESOME!!!!!
And anyway, the soundtrack is a timeless classic for sure!!! One of the last great Death Row albums to ever come out.
-
I think it did sell around 2 million
worldwide ?
