DALLAS — Good news all around from the land of the limping and losing Lakers, even though none of the news really qualifies as great news for them.
Pau Gasol was off crutches and standing on his own, reporting he was feeling “much better” and even wandering onto the practice court to take some short, flat-footed shots. Not that it changes the fact that he’ll probably miss two weeks, but it’s a good indication for him just that the swelling was down enough for him to wear an untied shoe on his left foot.
Trevor Ariza finally got out of his walking boot today after a CAT scan showed sufficient healing in his broken foot. He was cleared to begin running on the elliptical machine, but Phil Jackson said Ariza still won’t be back in action in the regular season
Andrew Bynum has had no adverse reactions to the light treadmill work he began last week, which is important because there was some concern that he would have pain or swelling that might set him back. There remains some hope Bynum will get back in early April.

Bynum is going to cut it very close
it'll be interseting to see if he can fit in with the rest of the team and Gasol
-
hopefully bynum wont come back too soon
-
I Agree, I Say The Lakers Shut Bynum Down For The Rest Of The Season. (& Post-Season)
Let Him Get His Proper Rest & Rehab For Next Year.
I Have More Hope We Get Mihm Back To Help Gasol instead of a 50% Bynum.

no way, you're nuts, we have a really good chance at winning the title this year, and kobe is turning 30 this year, no time to waste, bynum is healthy hes running on a treadmil, that means he can run, only thing is getting him back in shape, now ariza had a broken foot, that takes time. gasol should be fine very soon also.

running on a treadmill is way different than runnin on a court...
when is gasol gonna be back?

LOL@shutting Bynum down when we're contenders.
-
Bynum is in a terrible position right now. Young and inexperienced, everybody around him hungry for the title - and everybody expects him to return and provide. Niggas gotta be shook.
-
Bynum shouldnt come back if he isnt completely 100%. Look at what happened to Amare Stoudemire when he came back early. It will only hurt the Lakers if he comes back and he is not fully healthy.

Hell no! If this were last year I'd agree but we have an excellent chance to go all the way this year. I'd say let him keep resting, bring him back in early April and let him come off the bench and play minimum minutes so he can get his rhythm back, then go hard in the playoffs.

Andrew Bynum is A Very Young Dude..
He has A Long Future ahead of Him, Coming back Too Early Can damage His potential.
Kobe Hitting 30 means Nothing IMO, That's prime years Kobe is About To Hit.
Bryant's Game Can Have Him Playin' well Into his late 30's, Cause of His superior Shooting Ability.
(The Dunk's And Flashy Play Are for the young who can't Ball & Make Up, But What? When the Hop's are Gone....)
These Lakers Have A Long Window for Success.
(Some Teams in This years Playoff Sceme Can't say The Same)
I'll admit This Season We have A Slight Chance To take it All.
But IMO, Too many Injuries To Key Players Including Kobe (Let's not Forget About The Right Hand!!)
Hurt Our Chances Alot, Way More than it Shows..
But At Full Strength Next Season is Our's.
Not That I'm Giving up On This Season, Just Being Realistic About Our injury's Including A.Bynum's Gameplay Once He Returns.
Ariza Is Most Likely Shut Down For the Reg Season..
Gasol will be 100% for the playoffs, I'm Positive 'Bout That.
Our Key's ..
Farmar & Sasha both Need To Attain their December Form
I Say We Should Look for Mihm Instead of Waiting for Bynum (This Season, If Bynum Comes back it's Bonus)
Fish needs to Average 10pts a game, So Kobe can regain Confidence In Him Again.
(If Not, I'm cool with Kobe jacking Up As Many Shot's As he Want's)
Odom's Slashing Ability has been The One Point I made In every Post about Lamar..
He is Almost Always Money in The post With His Lefty Shot off The Glass + Size & Length (Odom can match any F/PF)
His Post Moves Are Very High Percentage & Lead To Either A Foul Shot or a Layup/Dunk.
Let's get Ronny In the Starting 5 to replace Vlad Rad/Walton (Once Gasol returns).
I have Already Accepted The Lakers As is this Season, & It Don't Include Bynum. (Let's Not Rush The Kid)
It Will be A Miracle If Bynum can return To even 50% Of What he began this Season.
(But hey, I can't Wait to be Proven wrong)

Kobe's game Has Defo Improved.
Remember We get to watch Him Play every Night
We Know What Kobe is capable of Doing, His Game This Season has Evolved.
As it Has Been These last Couple Of Seasons (Post Shaq)
Bryant Can Throw in 40+ points anynight he Wishes to do So...I've seen it
Not On A Game Of A Lifetime, Not because he's on Fire, But because He can.
Everyone Know's What type Of numbers Kobe's capable of putting up when he's On Fire! ask Toronto.
For A Player Of Bryant's Ability To Step His game Down A Notch In Order To Win!! & Play Team Ball
Is the Ultimate Show Of Evolution in A player.
Just Like Allen Iverson has Done in Denver, Just Like KG has Done His Whole NBA Career.
Would You say either KG/Peirce are having The worst season Of their Career's this season?
Cause Of Their scoring Numbers being down...
-
LMAO@Kobe's game stepping down...Hack...slap yourself as hard as possible.

Bryant is the Only Player In the NBA Who Can Score 25+ PTS in A Game

Update on Bynum return...
From NBA.com
http://www.nba.com/nba_news/bynum_update080318.html (http://www.nba.com/nba_news/bynum_update080318.html)
DALLAS, March 18, 2008 (AP) -- The Lakers have finally put a timetable on the return of Andrew Bynum: probably the first round of the playoffs.
Bynum has been out since Jan. 13, when he dislocated his left kneecap and bruised a bone landing on a teammate's foot while going for a rebound. The Lakers haven't been more specific about his recovery than saying he would be out for at least eight weeks.
But before the Lakers played the Mavericks on Tuesday night, coach Phil Jackson said he's not expecting the 20-year-old center to return until the playoffs begin the weekend of April 18-19.
"It's all about swelling, the pounding you take day to day,'' Jackson said. "He continually battles that. So it could be a couple, three weeks before he's doing some things on the court.''

i respect the fact that you watch the Lakers and shit and thats a good point about Peirce and KG having lower stats (same with Ray Allen) this year and not making them any less valuable
but Kobe's pinky finger is busted, hes coming off knee surgery last summer and he's 29 i think?
primes in the NBA are usually 25-30. Granted everyone is different.
this is the first year where i would say Lebron MAY actually be better than Kobe. I don't think he is, but if you switch the two I think the Lakers would have even more wins than the C's

I Agree Bro, If You Put Kobe on the Cavs They have As many wins As the C's.
LeBron On the Lakers, maybe in 2010. (He will be Ready Then)

Lebrons great but he doesn't have the defense, shooting (although he's improving), or experience that Kobe has. There's no way LA would be better with that swap

Lebron has a higher FG% than Kobe and twice as many blocks/game this year
Okay? We already went over this...having a high block/steal total doesn't make you a good defender. Dudes who pick up a lot of steals and blocks are generally worse defenders, because they can't stay in front of their man and gamble on many plays. and LeBron plays the forward position, while Kobe is a guard...most of LeBron's shots are taken withing a few feet from the basket, resulting in a high FG%. If he had a wider arsenal (jump-shot, threeball, fadeaway, etc.), his FG% would go down...LeBron plays with his power, though, so like a power forward (or a center), he's gunna have a high FG%.

i didn't mention steals
both are floating around 2

the real problem is the type of injury he has is something that needs to be fully healed
if you rush back too early you're fucked for longer

That's ok because we ended up getting the best high school player out of the draft. For cheaper too.
Monta>>>>>>>>>>>Bynum
-
The Lakers need this win this year. This is the year you put Bynum out there and have Gasol, and both can rest up in the off season and the beginning of next year. I don't expect Kobe back until December, so we can chill in the beginning, let Odom hold down the team, but this year win that title and give Phil a year that no one can deny his greatness as coach, and Kobe's greatness as a player. The Lakers winning this year puts them up there and no one can deny them. Bynum and Gasol will be fine, Kobe will be fine, it's time to win this year.

Warriors got the better High School player.

Can I get a real response? I'm trying to find a reason why Bynum could be better than Monta but I can't find it. Help me out NIK.

If the draft was re-done today, you'd be a complete fool to take Ellis over Bynum...a dominant big man who can play both ends > a undersized shooting guard who can score.

You're right on that statement. But Bynum isn't a dominant big man yet, while Ellis is an all-star caliber scorer. He just needs to develop some good defense and a three point shot(which shouldn't be too hard to do, just take a look at Tony Parker).

LOL...Bynum is definitely dominant for his age. And Bynum is closer to all-star caliber than Ellis is...Ellis is like TJ Ford without the passing skill (I'd still take Ford over Ellis, though).

Ok fair enough. But Ford over Ellis?? You serious?
-
Dead serious...If TJ Ford wasn't playing behind Jose Calderon, he'd be amongst the best point guards in the league.

I'm a raps fan and i'm starting to get a little tired of dude. His decision making is downright awful at times. How many times he just goes in the air with no direction, countless and just ends up throwin the ball to the other team.
A) Deal ford this off season
B) sign calderon long term
C) replace ford through the draft (collison perhaps?)

You realize that he's aggravated about not getting his starting gig back and getting inconsistent minutes since returning from the injury, despite starting the season off so nicely, correct? The Raptors need to put Ford back into the starting line-up ASAP...they were doing better with him in there and he adds another dimension to the team. he can't play good getting 15-20 minutes a game...dude is beyond a starting caliber point guard. The Raps are trying to keep Calderon happy so that he'll sign with them next year, instead of concentrating on putting the best product out on the floor and trying to win now...PeACe

Bynum and Gasol will be fine, Kobe will be fine, it's time to win this year.
are you a doctor? how do you know if Bynum will be fine? nobody does.
what happens if he goes down in the first round and fucks himself up even worse??
the Mavs, now THERES a team with a short window. same with Phoenix.

I hope Kidd's contract can be traded for a really good player in the off-season, maybe McGrady if they do horrible in the 1st round or something. As for Mdogg's post, he was probably high.

Sorry to say but I don't think anyones gonna want Kidd after this season, as talented he still is he's way too old to trade a lot for, but the Mavs already proved me wrong so who knows

It's still a huge 21 mil expiring contract, for a team who wants to lower the payroll and rebuild, it's a good thing to do. I don't think Houston is willing to continue to have Yao & McGrady when the team always drops in the 1st round.

Note that Finley and Bradley don't count for the luxery tax as they have been bought out years ago. The site is missing Stackhouse's 4 and 2 mil. per year extension. But as you see all the contracts of the big money players are still rather long and therefore kind of untradeable, except for Kidd. LOL@Dampier's huge contract. Him getting almost 14 mil when he's 36 in 2011, ridiculous.
