he won't win it because we suck and because of that I wont argue it. But he really is the most improved player this year.
He's scored his career high of 36 pts 4 times this year lol, dude has been scoring like crazy, very efficient offensive player this year.
-
Mike Dunleavy is having a career year...very good player. Bynum woulda' won it if he didn't get injured, though. If Dunleavy doesn't get it, Beno Udrih has a good shot and so does Jose Calderon...I also like Rudy Gay and Hedo Turkoglu as candidates. Should be interesting to see.

Yeah those are also some great choices NIK. I completely forgot about Hedo, imo he should win the award and then Dunleavy. good choice with Beno also, he has ben very impressive this year.
-
Hedo better win it. Dude has been putting up great all around numbers and been the go to guy all year.
-
If u ask me Monta Ellis should win it again

He is amazing. I swear to god sometimes it feels like he never misses a shot when I watch the Warriors play, he is one of my favorite players to watch in the whole league.
-
LOL...Monta Ellis is good, but he didn't drastically improve from last season.
-
hedo should definatley win it in my eyes. he was already snubbed for the all star game, the guy is averging 20, 6 and 5 respectivley which is a huge improvement for him. Im a magic fan so i could be a lil biased.
and also the only reason you never see monta miss a shot is because all he does is dunks or lays it in. the guys a horrible 3pt shooter for a 2 guard in a point guards body. put him on a half court team and he wouldnt be half as good.

Umm you couldn't be more wrong. I watch alot of basketball and alot of Warrior games. Yes Monta is not a 3pt shooter but he is a very good midrange shooter, he has improved that aspect of his game drastically this year, The guy is a awesome player regardless of what team or system he plays in. You are way off in your analysis of him.
-
Monta needs to develop a three...and the fact remains, he does score most of his points off of lay-ups...But that's his strength. He's a Tony Parker type of player who, with his speed, can penetrate seemingly at will...PeACe

Wtf? I don't think I've ever seen Ellis take a midrange shot.
-
^^Then you dont watch that many Warrior games. Dude doesnt just dunk and lay it up all time, he makes most of his jump shots aswell.
-
I woulda said Jose Calderon was but since Ford came back his numbers have dipped. Dont really see many Pacer games so I dont know about Mikey D

LOL. That's like saying you've never seen Dwight Howard dunk in a game.

Kevin Martin is One OF My fav Players..
His Numbers are Up This season. Not sure if he qualifies here.
but I just wanted To name drop.. 8)
Since He Deserved it Last Year ,IMO

How so? Temp2 is right. Ever Warriors game I see, Ellis is dunking, getting lay-ups, or shooting free-throws. Van Gundy was right, his game is exactly like Wade's.

He also shoots mid-range jumpers. I say he shoots at 6-7 jumpers every night, but I do agree most of his points come off free-throws, layups and dunks.
-
^^On point. He shoots a lot of mid-range jumpers, so does D. Wade. If you haven't seen him do that, you have not watched more than a few games. As for the award, I think that it should probably be out of Dunleavy or Udrih. I don't like seeing a good player who got great win the award, and these two really came out of nowhere to play big roles for their teams. Dunleavy had been getting worse in Golden State, and now he found his 3-point shoot, and has been playing a lot tougher.
-
LaMarcus Aldridge should at least be in the discussion. He basically doubled his scoring and his rebs went up by 2. Of course Z-Bo being gone is the biggest part of that but so what? lol

True, he has tore it up also. I don't normally like to see guys win it in their 2nd year, because almost everyone has a big increase there. But no question, he has stepped it up to deserve to be in the discussion.

You nailed it...that and the fact that he was bound to have a drastic improvement in his sophomore season.
-
nah i still stick with my hedo choice. Lamarcus is a good shout but i think he hasnt really improved that much in terms of how he finished out last season which could work against him. Because if you remember rightly after the all star break last year the guy ripped it up.
hey Now_I_Know do you know of any sites where you can download full nba games? also do you have nba league pass?
-
Udrih got my vote
-
hey Now_I_Know do you know of any sites where you can download full nba games? also do you have nba league pass?
not really, but every game is streamed live at raptorsnation.net...and yes, I have NBA League Pass.
-
Nothing is better than NBA League Pass, every damn game at your disposal! LOL it's why I stay spending so much god damn time watching NBA games.
-
so do you guys watch league pass over the internet or is it straight to your TV?
-

you can watch over internet but I watch on TV. I have DirectTv but other providers have league pass also. This year its great to cause they broadcast a shitload of league pass games in HD.

Actually his post game has improved dramatically in the last month or so. Most up the year up to then he was pretty much just a 7 foot jump shooter like a quicker Channing Frye with a little better rebounding and athleticism. Now he's looking like a mix of Sheed/Garnett as far as his low block game. So while he probably won't get the MIP award, its not true to say he hasn't improved from last year, because he has improved from the beginning of THIS year.
-
He's improved, but not enough to be in MIP talks.
-
And I'd be hesitant to give a MIP award to anybody on the Magic because it most likely has more to do with the emergence of Howard as the most dominant big in the game than it has to do with any of the other guys actually improving by much.
-
^^You must have not been watching Hedo play this season.
-
^^You must have not been watching Hedo play this season.
Admittedly I haven't watched him much this year. When I have seen him play, he has looked better than I remember him when he was in Sac, but I just think MIP is a bit of a reach when you consider that Howard blows the game wide open for everybody on his team. Its like how there used to be the saying "You never trade for a guy on a Jason Kidd team," because Kidd makes his teammates look so much better than they actually might be. On that same type of page, it should be noted that Hedo's improvement coincide's with Howard's emergence as quite possibly the most dominant force in the NBA.

Well, the same hasn't happened for Rashard Lewis, so what do you say about that?...Hedo has just drastically stepped up his game, in every aspect.
-
Hedo improved, but Rashard Lewis will retire as the most overpaid healthy non-center in NBA history. He's just not that good of a player, never has been.

I would say that he benefited from being option 1b. in Seattle and is struggling to find his role with a new team with different players who make him have to adjust his game. I expect him to be better next year. He'd been a main guy on his team in Seattle since he left high school. He has a new role now and his numbers may have dropped because his role isn't as much to score anymore as it is to stretch the defense as a long range threat (James Jones, Jason Kapono, etc). Of course I could be completely wrong, but you asked me to speculate as to why Lewis hasn't shown marked improvement in Orlando, so there it is. lol

Nah you're exactly right. In Seattle it was Lewis and Allen taking all the shots. This year he's a 3rd option on most nights and being used as just a spot up shooter. But to be fair, no matter how good he plays he's never gonna live up to that price-tag (and keep in mind I'm a Lewis fan).

would there be any reason why i couldnt get leahue pass here in england? i mean i could watch it over the net right? Also does anybody know how to save streamed video from windows media player?
back on topic hedo scored 39 last nite, i dont give a shit if a dominant centre opens the game, that shits MIP worthy.

I'm sure you could get it over there. The NBA is really trying to get more of an international audience so I don't see why they wouldn't offer it in England. Worst case scenario you can always watch the games on sopcast. by the way, do you know anything about Joel Freeland? All I know is the Blazers drafted him and have had him stashed in England for the last couple years. Is he any good?
-
yeah i know vaguely about joel freeland. He is a good prospect but from what ive heard the guy is very raw and hence the reason the blazers sent him back to europe to develop. I believe his playing in gran caneria or something like that at the moment. I think his an athletic shot blocking type player. He also plays for our national team.
On a side note the basketball in this country has seen a drastic change over recent years in terms of ability. I play in a D3 local league but about 6 years ago when i used to play (ive only just got back into it) the talent level was nowhere near to what it is now.
I think over the coming years theres gunna be a greater influx or british players coming to the nba thats for sure. especially with england basketball team qualifying for the london olympics in 2012.

Well, if Dwight did so much for his teammates, Rashard would be scoring more and getting better looks...but his percentage is actually lower than ever. So your theory as to why Hedo improved so much is BS. Rashard should be the second option, not Hedo...Hedo stole that shit when he saw the contract Rashard got, it probably made him want to step his game up another notch...PeACe

Not necesarrily. Hedo and Lewis are different types of players. Hedo is an inside/outside type player, but Lewis is primarily a mid to long range jump shooter. There are different dynamics at work which affect how each player is utilized. Simply by Lewis being on the floor, the defense gets spread because whether Lewis is on or not, they have to respect his ability. The D has to stay on Howard AND Lewis so the doubles on each of those players have to come from someone else's man, thus opening up the game for other players. Like I said, I could be wrong, but I dont think its logical to say that Howard doesnt open up the game for Turkgolu.
-
Of course Howard opens up the game for everyone, but Hedo has drastically stepped his game up...Otherwise, Mo Evans, Keith Bogans, and Jameer Nelson would all be playing like all-stars. But it's only Turkoglu at the current moment...PeACe
