Yo....i just read this on another site........check this out......i thought they were already with deathrow......now they officially are......read this....
Big Hutch a.k.a. Cold 187um, KM.G a.k.a. Vin Loco, and DJ K-oss of the west coast legendary supergroup, "Above The Law", have officially became inmates of Suge Knight’s Death Row Records. The group known for creating the popular "G-Funk" sound and mixing gangster and Black conscious lyrics that has produced many street anthems including "Murder Rap", "Untouchable" (whose video was banned from MTV), "The Last Song", "V.S.O.P.", "Call It What You Want", "Kalifornia", and the infamous single "Black Superman." After severing ties with Tommy Boy Records in 1998 over lack of promotion, marketing, and basic enthusiasm, the group decided to go back to the traditional route by re-structuring their newly created independent label, West World Records. In 1999 the label released Big Hutch’s (a.k.a. Cold 187um) debut solo album "Executive Decisions" which according to "The Source" was one "of the best albums to come out during the summer" and Above The Law’s seventh album "Forever-Rich Thugs." The group felt that both albums again fell by the wayside due to the lack of distribution.
Fast forward to the year 2000-2001.
With several records out to keep the name "Above The Law" in the streets, the group was approached by several major labels about a new record deal, including Ruthless Records. According to group leader Big Hutch, "instead of taking two steps forward these deals would have had us going three, four steps back."
Since the untimely demise of the legendary record mogul, Eric "Eazy-E" Wright, Above The Law really haven’t been given the creative control and financial backing that they had since they signed with Ruthless Records in 1989, but that would all soon change. Unbeknown to Above The Law, Death Row Founder Marion "Suge" Knight, although currently incarcerated, is looking to put Above The Law back in the limelight, which will help re-establish Death Row Records as a major record label powerhouse as it was in the 90’s.
After finally getting in contact with the group, Suge made an offer that the group couldn’t refuse. After the smoke cleared, Above The Law would be able to get full creative control, financial support, good distribution, promotion, and marketing, all key elements that they haven’t received from other labels in recent times.
Some believe that anyone aligning themselves with "Suge Knight" or "Death Row Records" could pose career ending situations, the group disagrees with that notion totally. Says Big Hutch, "We have known Suge for years and he knows how our whole collective operates and we see eye-to-eye on how we want Above The Law to be presented to the streets, the people, and the industry….Suge is giving us the artistic freedom we haven’t had in years." With Knight looking to be released from prison in the next two months, the group has been in the studio working on their Death Row Records debut release."
In addition to recording their album, Big Hutch/Above The Law has produced and appeared on tracks for the Death Row compilation "Too Gangsta For Radio", Snoop Dogg’s "Dead Man Walking", fellow labelmate Crooked I’s upcoming debut album, and the recent Tupac release "Until The End Of Time." Hutch is projecting that the new Above The Law album will be released this summer.
Above The Law protégé’, Kokane, whose vocals can be heard on albums such as Dr. Dre’s "The Chronic 2001," Mr. Short Khop, and "Snoop Dog Presents Tha Eastsidaz," has also rejoined the fold and is back collaborating with the group.
Finally, it looks like all the pieces of the puzzle have finally been put back together and the record industry and the buying public will once again be witnessed to the return of one of the world’s most infamous rap groups
hmmmmmmm....

Kokane with Doggystyle amd Death Row...Hmmm sound funny to me....
-
very strange ..
-
that shit must be old cuz the latest i hear is that kokane hasnt been in contact with ATL since he started makin that major paper with dre and snoop.
they were working together like a year ago but now kokane seems to be too busy for his old click apparently. big hutch is his cousin too i think
-
Yo who has that song by above the law - call it what you want i cant find it anywhere . peace
-
i read that on a hip hop board..davey d or soemthing like that out of cali.....and the date was may 1st....
-
I dont see what the problem is. I know Snoop & Row dont get along, but that doesnt mean Kokane cant be between them
Just like when Daz & Snoop had beef, Kurupted stayed between them
-
I just don't think Kokane would risk his relationship with Snoop and Dre for this
-
fuck that, its all about being down with those that have been down with you, not the fast money.
and that article was taken from the official ATL fan site run by their road manager, its about 6 months old
-
It's what it should be about but most of the time it isn't ... right Daz
-
i didnt get that article from the atl fan site......i dont know if you have heard of
http://www.daveyd.com/

oh..my bad.....but shit..why would u just now put it up on his site? its not like daveyd to put somethin up that was old....he might of talked with someone from DR or kokane...
-
Dude, Kokane can't be cool with the person who is getting threats and cool with the person who is making threats...Doggystyle are supposed to hang tight, Kokane was on a Dissin Death Row on "Go Away" along with Snoop...And the Daz situation was waaaaaaaay different....
-
cant they all just get along.....lol
man....imagine if suge got his mind right.......and looked at the big picture...
instead of being jealous of dre and snoop......work with them.....take over the whole industry..........shit.....but suge cant do that..he has to have it to himself......
could u just imagine..if Aftermath/dogghouse or doggystyle whatever they call it/Deathrow all worked together.....produced each other......fuck gettin the west coast on lock..they would have the whole country on lock.......pull there resources together..and become the next freakin Def Jam.......
oh shit...i was dreamin again......

i know i posted this clip of news up already but this is just for the benefit of Hambone and anyone who aint seen it. Here is the latest ATL update from the fan site, written by Damon X (aka Damon Moore, who wrote that article they put up on daveyd, i think they gave him credit). ok...
I know it's been a while, but I have been busy as well as members of the group. Besides being ATL's road manager (which hasn't meant anything, yet due to the fact we haven't been on the road), and running West World Records ( I have been on the road), I also teach, so my plate has been hella full. Anyways.....
The name of ATL's new Death Row debut will be called "The Life Of A Drug Dealer" or "The Autobiography of A Drug Dealer" or something close to that nature. It will be a semi-autobiographical look at the life and times of brothers caught in Uncle Sam's Curse and what they do/did to escape the clutches of oppression. In fact the album will be the soundtrack to a straight-to-video film of the same name. The script is in the works as we speak. I'm hoping that I can at least write the group's bio for this album like I did for Legends (Tommy Boy Music). As well as the liner notes, if you didn't know I have a big ego and like to see my name in any form of pop-culture (lol). The film will more than likely be a West World/Suge Knight Films collaboration or just a Suge Knight Films feature. The film will be in the realm of a Black version of "The Sopranos."
Also why haven't we've been seeing Above The Law being promoted in recent weeks, well after finally ironing out the rough edges and crossing the "t's" and dotting the "i's", ATL has finally signed the deal with Death Row. Will Death Row fuck over ATL? I hardly doubt it. Again ATL has good lawyers and business acumen and it took many months, but it's a deal that both sides are in agreement with and that's all one can hope for in this business. My own opinion on this whole deal, is that I hope and pray that Death Row will really promote and market this album as if it was a Dre or Snoop record and with Suge coming home in the next two months, I really believe that this may happen. To quote KMG "...If we ever go platinum, we figure whoever was in charge of marketing and promotions did their fuckin' job." So fuck poppin' collars, we need to roll up our sleeves and go into the trenches, you know the labum is going to be that shit!
Also Crooked I's album is almost complete, just making some last touches, I hear that his album is gonna be SICK, I haven't heard the whole album just a couple of tracks and what I heard so far, this album has an indication of doing some real positive things for Crook, Death Row, and Hutch as a producer. Also I wanna say that opinions are like assholes, but I FUCK all those non-music inclined BITCH-MADE MOTHERFUCKERS, who are hating on ATL and 2Pac's "Words To My First Born" These so-called 2Pac scholars critize anything that they feel isn't in the realm of what 2 Pac wanted. The beats and rhymes is on some hype shit and hasn't diminished the integrity of 2Pac nor ATL. When I 'm ridin' down the streets in many cities a lot of fools turn and bop their heads to the shit and many have said that shit is dope, so I think that fools who love Hip-Hop music regardless of where or who it's from have more integrity than those those BITCHES who critize Master P (who I like), Jay Z (who I like), P-Diddy (who I like) Mobb Deep (who I like), Snoop (who I like), Dre (who I like). Shit I grew up on East Coast Hip-Hop, but I love Hip-Hop no matter where it's from, Dope is Dope and that's the bottom line!
Remember never to bite the hand that fed you.......better yet never forget who gave you your start. Why isn't Kokane giving his mentors a chance to shine on his new album? And how many ATL albums has Jerry been on? Well Hutch is like fuck him, let him do what he wants, I'm like you shouldn't burn bridges, I'll still support him (cuz he was born from ATL) but his records based on when you hear him, you hear Above The Law, straight up and down. The "Who Am I" album was his and ATL's style and "Funk Upon A Rhyme till now is all Above The Law. Jerry Long, ATL doesn't need to piggy-back of your current success, but homie it's called RESPECT, show niggas you still have love for 'em. Fuck all the past "problems" you might of had (but that's MY opinion)
Again the album will be out this summer and the group has begun production work We hit a major snag within the confines of the group, but hopefully things will work out and things will be back to normal. It's personal and won't indulge in that what it is.
Also as soon as Hutch gives me the DAT for "Fuck You Hutch" and I get the shit pressed up, Hopefully you will hear it on college radio, mixtapes, and even commercial radio (but I doubt it). So hopefully I will be getting that in the next week or two. The shit is bangin' y'all for real
Until then, keep checkin' back for updates
