Title: Chris Webber is retiring
Post by: GangstaBoogy on March 25, 2008, 07:12:17 PM
He's about a season or two too late but atleast he's not like some guys that just don't know when to hang it up...

Chris Webber is ending his comeback attempt with the Golden State Warriors and will retire after 15 seasons in the NBA.

Warriors spokesman Raymond Ridder said Webber will make the announcement at a news conference Wednesday. The news was first reported Tuesday by ESPN.com.

Webber played only nine games with the Warriors before being sidelined by a bum left knee that’s hampered him in recent years.

Webber was the most prominent member of the Fab Five at Michigan and played for Golden State, Washington, Sacramento, Philadelphia and Detroit in his NBA career.

Webber and the Warriors hoped that a return to the spot he started his NBA career would help both parties. But he ended up having little impact on the Warriors after signing with the team Jan. 29.

Slowed by the knee injuries, Webber struggled to keep up with the fast-pace Warriors and averaged only 3.9 points per game in his brief stint with the team. He had not played since March 2 because of the injured left knee and had not been around the team as of late.

so what you want about the guy but he was damm near one of the best players in the league around the 1999/2000/2001 seasons. ironically tho the kings greatets chance of a ring was probabley that season he came back at the end before the playoffs and fucked up the chemistry.

C Webb was so underrated, he was still averaging almost 20 & 10 in Philly. He should of made the Allstar game but they dick ride Rasheed Wallace instead. If C Webb never got injured he would of been so much better than Duncan & as good as KG.

How is it a stretch, he had a better all round game than both, better shooter, passer, and was a force inside.

Webber=perimeter oriented power forward

Yes, he's a better shooter at the 4...but so is Al Harrington. Duncan and Garnett are better in every way as post players.

there's no fucking way webber would have been better than Duncan or even garnett.

Duncan will probably go down as the second or theeee best PF of all time and as much shit as i give garnett he's more effective than chris webber at any point in his career. oh shit son don't call time out. fuck outta here with that SHIT.

duncan just had luck with getting that full college education, then getting drafted by a good and functional team where he could learn from robinson... a team with signing steals like ginobili and parker... if garnett had been in that position, they would have been killing as well.. duncan is overrated

I agree, Duncan is way overratted. If you can't give C Webb his props than you need to alteast admitt KG is better than Duncan, a chip don't make you a better player.

^They're on the same level, but yes, i agree...Garnett>Duncan.
