...only to be vetoed by cheapass Donald Sterling.
Mavs could have used Maggette (http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/03/mavs-could-have-used-maggette.html)

Tim MacMahon
Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy revealed earlier this season that he'd agreed to trade Corey Maggette to the Mavs for Jason Terry only to have owner Donald Sterling veto the deal.
When I first heard about the deal that didn't happen, I wondered how Maggette would have fit in the Mavs' locker room. He's been at odds with Dunleavy since the coach took over the Clippers.
Now that I've seen the way things have played out, I realize that a little friction in the locker room would have been well worth it to have Maggette as the Mavs' starting shooting guard.
He's a strong 6-6 dude who can sky. He would have been the Mavs' best finisher. And he attacks the basket -- something Avery constantly stresses the Mavs don't do enough -- ranking among the league leaders in free throws despite not being a star.
Eat your heart out, Dallas fans.

thank god. maggette's value is far greater than terry's at this point, and terrys deal lasts up til fucking 2012. if maggette still aint getting along with dunleavy after this season and wants to opt-out, then i say let him. we could use the capspace.

The cheap bastard vetoed it for financial purposes...Maggette doesn't get along with coach Dunleavy.
