Regulate...G Funk Era is a TRUE classic, let's talk about the other records.
There isn't a filler on this album, just think about it......
awesome singles (smokin me out is timeless) but i can't choose the best song 'cause this album is really amazing from the first to the last song.
Warren's beats are pure heat and i really like the collabos ( Young Fun , What We Go Through , We Brings Heat ) and the k9/p-c song (back up) is a banger!
1. Intro
2. Annie Mae
3. Smokin' Me Out - Ronald Isley, Warren G
4. Reverend Eazy Dick
5. Reality
6. Interlude
7. Young Fun
8. What We Go Through
9. We Brings Heat
10. Can You Feel It
11. Transformers
12. Reel Tight Intro
13. Relax Ya Mind - Reel Tight, Warren G
14. To All D.J.'s
15. Back Up
16. What's Love Got To Do With It - Adina Howard, Warren G
17. I Shot The Sheriff
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Z4FDKHHWL._SL500_AA240_.jpg)
Best songs (imho) : gangsta love, why oh why, i want it all, you never know, worldwide ryders, game don't wait
This record can't be compared with the g funk era and take a look.... but still a solid record to me,with a great production!
1. Intro
2. Gangsta Love
3. Why Oh Why
4. Dollars Make Sense
5. I Want It All
6. Havin' Things
7. You Never Know
8. My Momma (Ola Mae)
9. G-Spot
10. We Got That
11. Dope Beat
12. World Wide Ryders
13. Game Don't Wait
14. If We Give You A Chance
15. I Want It All (Remix)
16. Outro
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51hu9GEfctL._SL500_AA240_.jpg)
On this record there is some of his best beats ever imho,i put this album with his best ones (g funk era and take a look....)
Like the second album, there isnt a fuckin filler here.....too bad this AWESOME record has not sold like it really deserved
1. Intro
2. Lookin' At You
3. Here Comes Another Hit
4. Somethin' To Bounce To
5. This Gangsta S**t Is Too Much

Of the three, I Want It All is the best. The single by the same name, If We Give You the Chance w/Val Young singing another incredible hook and Dollars Make Sense are classics. I don't know, Take a Look is strange for me. I thought Annie Mae was average and that Smokin' Me Out and I Shot the Sheriff were some of Warren's most unoriginal work..The sample just seems too obvious. Transformers, tho, is a classic. Return of the Regulator wasn't bad, especially because I didn't go in with high expectations. G-Funk is Here to Stay w/Kokane & Mista Grimm is a nice funked out track. All in all, I Want it All comes closest to the magic of Regulate.
-
i thought g spot was a dope song on "i want it all" i remember hearing game dont wait remix on kmel for a while and being dissapointed when i bought the album and it not being on there, anybody know why it didnt make it on there? midnite hour had some really dope as beats though not part of this thread it was really slept on.

I respect your opinion but Annie Mae and Smokin Me Out are two awesome cuts imho, and even if the sample is too obvious i shot the sheriff still a pretty good song.
But there best songs are not the singles, some of the dopest tracks of this record are,for example, Young Fun - What We Go Through and We Brings Heat ..... the production is top notch!
I Want It All is more 'catchy'.

Midnite Hour is more like a compilation, too many featurings.....

I'll give you We Brings Heat. I forgot to mention that one. Song bangs. One of Warren's most creative beats.

Return Of The Regulator is underrated as hell and its a fuckin shame
-
Return of the regulator is a classic. G-dub made Mista Grimm and Butch Cassidy sound like All-Stars! El De Barge shines on there too
-
imo i want it all is a classic
the twinz album needs more love, too

they did the remix after the album came out. first single was was I want it all ..then they remixed game don't wait to be the next single
-
All great albums, "Return Of The Regulator" is my second favourite album from Warren. I hope he's new album will be real dope, not like "Midnite Hour" (don't get me wrong, it wasn't really a wack album, but it wasn't somethin' i was expectin from G-Dub)
-
can anyone hook the game dont wait remix up ? i only have the album version and i like the mix with X way better 8)

The 1st warren-g song that i listened to was regulate. It ispired me very much. Than many years past and i saw an album in music store. An album named "I want it all" by warren-g. I said i remember this guy, but remember by what? Then i looked at the feats. and that was incredible. Mack 10, DPG, Snoop, Nate, El Debarge... I bought it there. Then it started with gangsta love, when it came to G-Spot I was like "drunk". Like It left me a hole in my brain. Then i found "Take a look off your sholder" album. It was good but i can call it avarage if i compare wit other warren-g albums. Transformers, Any Man, Can You Feel It were dope. Lastly i found Regulater and it really didnt dissapoint me. That was a great sound for 94. This thread is not about that album so i wont say anything else more about regulater album. Then i bought "Return Of The Regulater" album. Oh man, this is the best shit ever Warren did. From Intro to Keep It Strong. It's a west coast classic. And i cant figure out how it is so underrated. There is Dr. Dre and Scott Storch on lookin at you, you got Knoc-Turnal as songwriter on Keep It Strong, aslo it's featuring El Debarge. You got Mista Grimm, Kokane, Butch Cassidy, Nate, Snoop and George mf Clinton! It must be soldl 10 million copy if there are just 10 million people listen Hip-Hop... ( I hope nobody talk about "midnight hour"... because i still cant believe that Warren really did it)
-
i agree with you about return of the regulator, its a fuckin MONSTER record......warren g should be president on a fuckin major label, fuck universal for what they did to him >:(
-
Return of the regulator is my fav out of those listed, no filler , great production and nice rhymes.
How come you didnt include in the midnight hour.
-
How come you didnt include in the midnight hour.
yup... wonder why, too ..
in the mid nite hour was a different approach but overall it's a dope record with some awesome tracks (I even love the stuff like make it do what it do because of that vocal sample in the background)
-

I would be surprised if the list include "in the midnight hour"... that's one of the wackest shits in west coast hip hop
-
How come you didnt include in the midnight hour.
MAYBE because i don't like it as much as the other 3 records ?

You cant show me any song on midnight hour better than "gangsta love", "why one why", "Dollars make sense", "You never know"... How can you say "I want it all" is wack! Dont you ever taste a lil bit of gangsta love :) here is a west coast forum!

How can you say In The Mid-Nite Hour is wack?
I would rather listen to I Need A Light, Get U Down Pt2, Yes Sir, PYT, In The Mid-Nite Hour, than any of the tracks on I Want It All. Its just my personal opinion. ITMH is seriously underrated,
-
I loved in the mid-nite hour, the title track is fucking smooth! Had some romantic skirmishes to that a gang of times, and I need a light is classic.
But yes, i love all of his albums, it's G-funk at it's best. Hopefully that new thing he is working on is on par with the rest of his production.

People say hip-hop dead and they are right, people miss past... And we the listeners deserver it... Why? Because you like albums like in the midnight hour. So warren's job is easy. He puts a wack album out like itmh and people like it. You deserver it people. But i deserve an album like "Return of the regulater"...

He's not going to re-make "return of the regulator", get over it. Bump his old shit, but respect that the man wants to expand and make something different. And how can hip hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever 8) ?
-
the midnite hour wasnt the wackesst album ever common
-
my favorite Warren G track iz Smokin Me Out
Ron Isley makes that shit dope
-

yeah, thats the clearest I've ever heard it.
Midnight Hour would be good as an EP, or maybe if it was labelled a lamont/g dub collab. right now it has too much filler

seriously?? ever thought about grabbing the single off ebay or amazon? :) has instrumental to the remix and album versions, too
I can even up a 320 rip if you really need it

Of those three, "I Want It All" was the best! Love that album.
Take a look over your shoulder was dissapointing. Warren G's weakest album... Too mediocre and it seemed like Warren G wasn't creative enough on the beats (he's always been an avarege rapper at best).
The Return was a good album, with some hits and misses.

I think the reason the "Game Don't Wait" remix wasn't on Want It All was because it wasn't finished in time. It was a track that was completed after the original had already came out on the album.
Warren G Albums...
G Funk Era- Classic.. 10/10.. best summer album ever, "This DJ" I remember when I first heard this song I didn't like it. I bought this cd because of his affiliation with Snoop, and I couldn't understand back then, I was only 11, why the album wasn't on Death Row. The album sounded soft to me compared to the Chronic and Doggystyle. I had to get used to the laid back style, but it ended up becoming my anthem to my whole summer that year in 1994. Those were the good old days.
Take A Look Over Your Shoulder- 8.5/10... This album was under-rated. If they would have released "Annie Mae" as a single this album would have blown up. "Annie Mae" was a 10/10. Like someone said, you can play through this whole album without skipping. It picks up right where G Funk Era left off with no big sophmore jinx letdown. "Reality" is one of my all time favorites.
Want It All- 7/10... Another solid album from top to bottom. I love how you can roll to a Warren G album and really relax and his lyrics really take you back to all the good times in your life. He's always reminiscing himself, about back in the day.. and this album is really smooth, he switched up his sound a little bit but it still worked.
