daz is on roc-a-fella records....what are y'all opinions on this
-
Your serious! No bullshit. He shoulda went to Dogyystyle where he would definitely be treated well.
But then again Roc-A-Fella is a very succesful label and it could benefit him in that way also.
-
I think its a good move. Daz is too dope to go unnoticed any longer by the mainstream, especially the east coast. Roc-a-fella will give Daz a chance to blow up and finally be recognized as on of the dopest producer/rapper to come on the scene. He produced one classic album(Dogg Food) and had a hand in a few others(Doggystyle,All Eyez). I know somepeople might say he sold out with this move, but FUK THE HATERS. Peace.
-
He coulda got recognition by signing to Doggytsyle too...He said the next Dogg Pound CD will be released by Roc a Fella...
-
i expected teh tipical westcoast fans remarks "awww shit! this is fucking gay, daz sold out, now he be doing songs with gay z!"
BUT
this is excellent! he will still make the dpgc album, and release this album on may 1st, but he will be highly recognized on his next album, and prolly have jayz and memphis bleek on his album(good or baD) but the dpg will still be there...this could be very very good
-
Uhhhh, that is fuckin gay i don't know why but i can't stand jay Z
what's up with all these rappers tryin to hold each others hands and be all united and shit. fuckin wack
-
i think its a good move...jay z can hold it down with scarface and ugk, he does brag too much about his dough..but u know he can take it ghetto for those of us that have actually lived in the ghetto and can relate to him.....and nothing wrong with daz going there.....shit.....look at it from a business prospective.......daz is hot...mc wise and producer wise............jay-z sees this and took the opportunity.....think of all the other doors for other west coast artist this might open up......and u know daz is not going to let his shit sound different than what he is doing now.....so he will come correct...and not signin to doggystyle is good....he is on his own....and just like my cousins...i be arguing with them all the time..but i have nothing but love for them......he is just doing his own thing..like snoop did his.....nothing but respect for that....
-
8) Well i dont think it is all that bad. Snoop's doggystyle records has too many peeps on it snoop will have his hand full. But i think Daz should should still keep it real with Nate snoop snoopafly Dre cuz with guest apperences that can make a dope album just like kurupts streetz iz a mutha. Peace ::)
-
umm............it cant be that bad ....can it???????

I Say, It's All About The Money...
Rappers Get Into This Game To Make Money, Plain And Simple... Ain't Nobody Trying To Do It, Unless They're Gonna Get PAID! Think About It, If They Didn't Want Money, They'd Just Make Songs For Their Friends...
There's No Shame In Daz Signing To Rocafella... If That's What It Takes To Get Him Some Money, So Be It... I Just Hope He Signed A Shallow Contract, So He Ain't Stranded.... The Only Way You Sell Out Is When You Lie To Yourself , Or You Cheat Your Friends... Daz Won't Have To Change His Style, So He's Being True To Himself, And He Isn't Selling Out His Friends, So I Say More Power To Him...
Frankly, I'm Tired Of Seein' The MaFa Broke, Anyways, So I Hope He Gets Some Cash Outta This... Daz Ain't My Favorite, But I've Always Been Down...
-
I agree with Trauma, its a move for money, but I see it in a different light. He's doing this to get on Top of the game ... to me that's not how you do it. People said the same about Snoop as well, but when Snoop moved he WAS on top of the game, he left cause of the shit with Deathrow, Daz however, in my opinion is trying to linger his way to the mountain without having to work his talent at its best ... now East coast fans (no negativity towards them) will buy the album because DAZ is now a Roc-a-fella artist and West coast fans will buy it because they are FANS OF DAZ DILLINGER ... keep it real Daz, Im sorry but this is just like the Mack 10 move. I'm not upset because they signed with different labels, it just seems like its more important to be on top of the game instead of just being in it ... thats where rap has gone corrupt in my mind. Forget the bling bling, forget the women, just do what you do because YOU LOVE TO DO IT. Let you wealth come from YOU.
-bpg :(
-
Nah, We Just Dissagree There... I Don't See Nothin' Wrong With Them Doing That... It's Just I Might Not Buy Thier Stuff Now.. LOL. Mack 10's Got A LOT Of Proving To Do After He Dissapointed Me With "The PaperRoute", And Daz Is Spreading Himself Thin, But I Say More Power To Them For Signing Where The Money Is...
-
I only hope Roc-a-fella doesn't bog the album down with their whack-ass artists...if they let daz do his thing without making him dickride the label and put sigel and bleek and amil and jay-z and every other whack ass fool they got on every other track, if they can give him freedom it's all good. As long as he doesn't stray from DPG.
I had the strangest feeling with Change The Game remix the first time i heard it when Daz said "Dogg Pound,Roc-A-Fella,That's my family!",well i ain't trippin,YET. peace-Tanjint
-
See, We See It Differently Though... Like Memphis, What If He's Just One Cool Motha, And Daz LIKES Him... I Mean, When You're Recording, And Master P Walks In The Room, And Yall Hit It Off, And You Guys Are Tight, He Might Work His Way Onto A Song, When From Our Point Of View, We KNOW He's Wack...
That's Where All These Colabo's Come From! These Guys Are Just Cool People, So It's Kinda Natural That You Want To Do Songs With Them, Even Though They're Not That Talented... It Takes A Real Hard Motha To Stay Away From Whorin' Around Like That... Think About It, There Aren't Many... Dre, Eazy, Are Probably The Only 2 BIG Names (Rakim?) That Have ONLY Done Tracks With Dope People, Because They Know To Stay Professionally Seperate From Their Friends...
-
Of course Roc-a-fella is going to BOG the whole album, if they weren't then what's the point of joining them if you already have DPG Records ....... I dont like it ....
-
Listen!
I get frustated with rap ... sometimes I wish I would just not take it so serious, but I do, why? Cause I'm stupid!
Daz should be Daz, I seriously don't think he is being Daz by signing to Roc-a-fella ... when Snoop moved to No Limit everyone screamed , why? Because Deathrow was such a big label. It's like removing one of the members of Wu-Tang, its not regular, its off beat, the breathing stops for a while and you have to get used to it ... If the artist does good then everyone loves them, if the artists does bad, they hate him and don't like him, If snoop made THREE CLASSIC albums on No Limit people would have said it was the best move of his life, but he didn't and now its his worst ... Daz is just releasing mid-quality material like popcorn ... an album here, an album there, lets make another with this label, i have 12 more tracks left, lets do another ... for the fans, its great, but do we really want just a lot of songs, I DONT, I love buying an album, listening through it and then realizing its a classic. I have 7 of those albums
Dre - Chronic & 2001
Snoop - Doggystyle
Warren G - Regulate
Kurupt - Streetz a Mutha
Eminem - MM LP
Nas - Illmatic
its probably just me, I like Daz material, there really isn't a Daz song though that really turns me on, its a good listen then its off, its like the new Bone albums, they sit and collect dust ... to me, Daz is just trying to get his name everywhere ... soon you'll be buying Cheese in the grocery store with Daz's face on it, Milk made by Daz Dairy Products, youll have dogg food shaped like DPG paws, pizza with pepparoni shaped paws, I know im carried away here, and Im being kind of hypocritical because I'm a huge Snoop fan and Snoop puts his face everywhere too, but he has proven himself, he has his stuff straight, Daz however is like a survivor (not the show ... well maybe ... oh fuck me, im stupid) he just want's people to know he is there , well to cut this long bullshit short ...
DAZ NEEDS A CLASSIC! HE'S NOT MAKING THEM!
-bpg
(phew ... lil pesci made me go mad ... sorry)
-
its not the worst thing he could do
although its not the best
at least hell be getting payed now and shit and its only right cos hes one talented cat whos put alot into the game.....but i just hope he doesnt alienate those who stayed loyal and broke their backs to get RAW and shit in favour of the Funk Flex listening Bounce beat lovin cats out there in new york who dont keep it real....
im not expecting a classic from the pound album anymore...but its not the end of the world
-
I think this is good and bad:
Good - even though im not a jay-z fan he is selling records and knows how to promote new artists. Also, more importantly, if Daz starts selling well and getting on TV it will attract more love to West Coast hip hop and could open doors for other w/c artists.
Bad - I had a lot of respect for Daz as he was trying to do his thing independent, which is hard as fuck to do. He didnt need Snoop, didnt need Dre, didnt even need death row. But now hes back to being a labelmate. What happened to "Tryna sign Daz, nigga Daz'll sign you"?
But anyway, do your thing Daz, its all gravy as long as he keeps his music DOPE wherever he goes.
-
What happened to "Tryna sign Daz, nigga Daz'll sign you"?
Funny i thought about this at some point last nigyt (while i was stumbling along the river with a rubber chicken burger)
It will be interesting to see how he goes.
even snoop said that he would sign to a major/bigger label than doggystyle to get more scrilla in 'to blow up one more time'
-
everyone (including me) said he should sign to Doggystyle which a part of me still thinks he should to be with everyone else but at the same time it is just like how the Row used to be. right now on Doggystlye there are TOO MANY al-stars and everyone is wanting to put out albums which just can;t happen all at once, so i can see why he moved to roc-a-fella (even tho it kinda makes me sick to my stomach to think about it).
maybe daz just did this so he can put out a cd soon and actually get some DISTRIBUTION that he cant get from his own DPG Records. HOPEFULLY he doesnt put out a album that is all watered down with Jayz and Bleek and them, i still want to see him DPGin' it with his boyz
we'll all have to wait and see tho won;t we??[glow=color,strength,width][/glow]
-
I hear ya Stew, and your my dogg and all, but you don't become great by signing to the top label, you do it by making dope ass records, im sorry but Daz isn't doing that. If a record is dope as fuck the believe it, it will catch on like fire ... just like Kurupt's Streetz is a mutha, it was cool and then all of a sudden it just caught steam and blew up. Daz needs a great album, not a label, he has a label already ... he has that deal where he can come out with records every tuesday ... he just needs a dope album!
-
i aint trippin cuz i know Daz is straight gonna bring heat....Daz did the smart thing, he needed more support, DPG Records independantly wasnt moving as efficiently as possible, with Roc-A-Fella he has promotion, distribution and strong labelmates....Even though he will make less to the dollar he will be pushing more units for sure...but than again none of this has been confirmed definately. also i think Daz already has 3 classic albums under his belt, Dogg Food, RRGB, and RAW. whateva....well see how this all works out...its all one bigg papa chase...
-
now you know...since DAZ is going to go major with Roc a fella...and universal is the distributor(they own def jam)
and you know Suge Bitch Knightengale, has unreleased material from the early dogg pound days.......i expect him to release a dogg pound cd right before daz comes out...or some unreleased daz songs..so he can make money off of the anticipation of daz on the r o c.
makes you wonder..exactly..how many unreleased material suge has from the early deathrow days........
-
as long as its not Dre produced they can use it.... but they could probably redo the beats
arent they supposed to dropping a kurupt compilation because of that court case with his ex-managers?
-
i think there is a good side and then there is the bad side to those whole Faz/Roccafella deal..
the good: Daz gets distribution and finally has the chance to make a name for himself
the bad: Jay-Z will probably rape the CD.
but i remember when people found out Dre would produce Xzibit's album... alot of people said he sold out and that the album would be too mainstream... that turned out fairly wrong and the album was pretty tight.
i think the situation is the same with Daz and Roccafella... hopefully Gay-Z and his ass raping roster will stay off most of the songs, the most i would allow without being personally pissed off is 3-4 tracks if the album has about 16 or so...
as long as Daz keeps it gangsta like he always has, the album will be good... but if this turns out bad, i will never buy another Daz cd again.. and that hurts me to say that because he is one of my favorites, overall i say FUCK how many records you sell, its about how good your albums are.. and RAW is classic in my eyes.
-
The cd will have atleast someone from the roc on it. Daz would probably love to produce jay-z. He'd be getting more dough then he did at the row.
-
ok, now Daz signin iz aight wit me. even though, like Kurupt said, "Tryin ta sign Daz nigga Daz'll sign u, and when we hit tha west this iz wut we gonna do...." wut happened wit that? i guess cuz Kurupt said that Jigga wuz coo wit him. but we'r talkin about Daz, not Kurupt.
1 thing i don't agree wit happenin iz a DPG album on Roc-A-Fella. that would be straight up whack. u sure about that info there Now_I_Know? cuz seriously i hope ur juss gankin my chain cuz that'z 1 thing i never wanna c happen.
Daz aint sold out, as long as he has good material it'z all good wit me. but if Tha Dogg Pound signz Roc-A-Fella, then they sold out.
-
its times like this when i realise how much i reallt miss pac. this shit would neva had happened if he was still around. FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUCCCKKKK!!!!
-
no,offence son.....
but how would pac being alive have affected this situation in any way?
-
well Pac sort of held the West together, cept for the ones he was beefin with (namely Dre) .. i think if Pac would still be here, Death Row would still be on top cuz things wouldn't have been the same... Snoop would have probly left anyway, cuz he knew what was good for him(fuck the haters).
but i agree, the day a Dogg Pound album drops on Roc-a-fella is the day i hope someone put's a hit on Gay-Z.
who is to say Daz couldn't have signed with Snoop or even DRE!! they ain't beefin no more, and i think Daz with Eminem on 2 tracks would not only sell better then Jay-Z on 2 tracks, but it would sound better... cuz Eminem whips the fuck outta Jay-Z on the mic, white or not.
when you really think about it, Aftermath would have been a great place for Daz to go if Dre would want him, which i'm sure he would... Dre wouldn't need to produce the beats, hell he probly wouldn't have to do much at all for a Daz album, slap Eminem in the Outro of his single and you got 4x a platinum album! LOL
damn, i just covered alot of topics in one post.. lol, sorry i often trail off like this...
-
Dre wouldn't need to produce the beats, hell he probly wouldn't have to do much at all for a Daz album, slap Eminem in the Outro of his single and you got 4x a platinum album! LOL
Put eminem 50/50 on a song with X didn't help Restless shift anymore.
-
Daz Wanted To Prove Again That He Doesn't Need Dre Or Snoop, That's Why He Didn't Sign With Them. Roc-A-Fella Was The Next Biggest Thing, Simple As That. They Probably Gave Him A 400,000 Dollar Advance Or Something, And He Jumped On It, I Don't Blame Him At All.
-
i did say single, but its all good...
quite frankly i think Daz don't need no one to do good. i'm just saying he should have atleast stayed true to the West and signed with a westcoast label.. personally i am a fan of west-east beef and i can't stand the fact that one of my favs just signed to a wack ass east coast act.
-
maybe Daz is on a secret mission to destroy them from the inside out (like Snoop did to No Limit) mwhahah
btw.. I can't believe no one noticed/mentioned that Daz is now down with a label thats cool with Dre
and dont forget when talking of classics Cube made Amerikkkas Most Wanted when he defected to the east.
-
i guess i'm angry cuz a few months from now all the groupies will be bumpin Daz, more power to Daz for selling all those records... but i always thought thats made Daz different from all the others, he didn't/doesn't have all the groupies bumpin his shit... but if he blows up, i won't be able to say "daz is one of my favs" without being labeled as a groupie myself, or whatever... i ALWAYS say i like Daz, Kurupt, 2pac, etc.. before i say i like Snoop, Dre, Xzibit, etc.. why? because i don't get the "oh your just a groupie"... i love the fact that no one knows who da fuck Daz is!
me and my homies will know i was down with Daz's music from day one... but no matter what me and my homies know, the groupies will consider me one of them... and muthafucka i don't want to be considered one of them!
and one more thing, if someone come up to me and says my music sucks, i get offended.. i mean i have beat the living fuck out of guys for saying they we're glad Pac died, but then again.. anyone of you that we're truely Pac fans would have probly done the same...
-
i feel the same way, that in a few months we're gonna be sittin around watchin a Daz video or listenin to his new song and one of my boys will say who is this guy? ive never heard of him is he new? and another friend will jump in that thinks they know something about rap and say, yeah he's new. and im gonna flip my lid, the same thing happened when we were watchin Up in Smoke dvd and someone asked who devin the dude was and if he has any cd's or anything and someone else goes "naw i dont think so, i think he's just a nobody"
anyways i'm starting to ramble haha
all i wanted to say is i wish all the luck to daz, tryin to sell more units and all BUT if he goes mainstream, and has Gay-z and them all over the album i'mma be pissed!
peace
-
Where did you get this news because I remember there was rumors about Warren G signing to Aftermath and having his own sub label. Then there was rumors about Ren being on Aftermath. Someone please give me a source from where they got this news.
-
i saw it on like 298743987 sites
-
I heard that he MAY be recording an album with Rocafella. However I never heard it was official.
-
If Daz Makes An Album As Good As Amerikkka's Most Wanted On The Rock, I'm A Start A Westcoast Killaz Daz Fan Club....
-
on a personal level, i never really liked Ice Cube that much... i think Daz already made an album that beats Amerikkkaz Most Wanted... and thats his first two albums, i don't know why so many people only pass them off as decent... and don't hit me with "anyone who thinks RAW is better then AMW is on crack" cuz maybe i just got a different ear, ya heard?
-
yeah i agree with murderous mc, i never really felt cube solo that much..but daz i always have
-
Man, I LOVEDDDD Cube's First 2... Plus He's Had Scattered Hits On His Last 4! I Swear, His First 2 Had AT LEAST 15 Dope Songs Each... I Really Liked The Bomb Squad's Production Too, Actually. Maybe Yall Oughta Give It Another Spin... In My Opinion, R.A.W. Ain't Even Close To Cube's First 3!
-
I think it`s real FUCCED up because it doesn`t fit, daz as a real westcoast representer signing to an eastcoast major label.
He should have signed to Doggystyle Records and there he would definilty become commerical success.
Does anyone know if the DPGC reunion album still be released on Doggystyle Records ??
-
:o :o
I just about had myself shot when I read this Daz goin to Rock-a-fella Records thing. First thing I fuckin read and it's this, LOL. I can't be too mad, only thing is this kinda breaks the Snoop/Daz/Dre mold we were waiting for all this time. I hope Jay-Z won't be on every other song, let Daz do his thang.
-
I think theres more to it.... I mean why hasn't Daz been associted with Dre 2001 when Kurupt was ... or why didn't he do something on The Last Meal and isn't it strange that he's on one record label and Kurupts on another when they were meant to be realaseing another DPG album? It doesn't make sense at all
They MUST of had some sort of a row about something but i guess we'll never know what it was over or who he had the fight with...
-
well Daz wasn't on "2001" and kurupt was because Kurupt was cool w/ everyone while daz was startin DPG Records, makin' RAW and had beef w/ snoop
-
Why 'd Daz have beef with Snoop?
-
bomb squad!
i cant name 1 song by daz,,,i think there is one on murder was the case,,anyway
all music would b different if pac was still in it,,,none of these people would b on top now,,its hard to explain,,,he changed everything,,,
i agree with b p g...i think you should make music for yourself,,fuck everyone else, fuck marketing,,b yourself,,,i too get frustrated with mainstream,,,we are the minority,,i write because i enjoy it,,its like therapy.,some people like it,,never will b mainstream,,my friends understand what im talkin about.,,damn i said the f word
-
Why 'd Daz have beef with Snoop?
One reason From 'What It Iz' on R.A.W.
(last verse says it best)
"long beach, have your forgotten where your from?
eastside long beach, representin' two one
blowin smok in your face from a joint or a bong
to let you mutherfuckin ass know once again that its on
too strong to be weak, watch out when i creep
with a cannon, lead in your ass to knock you out your feet
that pimp shit dont impress me, nor phase me,
all that fucking work i did for yall and never paid me
simple as i can say it - fuck yall"
the chorus is odd too.
"what it iz, i thought that we was down to the end
my best of friends, tried to mash me and do me in
what it iz, i thought that we was down to the end
what it iz
*why these niggaz wanna act funny with the money
we use to be down, back in the day*"
Another reason Daz wasn't on 2001 is because he was still on Death Row back then.
-
i read in a couple of album reviews for R.A.W that he disses Suge in that song also
-
Have Daz and Snoop made up then ? And whats up with"yall didn't pay me" that woulda been Deathrows fault not Snoops..
"tried to mash me and do me in" What did Snoop do to him?
I can't imagine Snoop being"disloyal" to one of his "dawgs"
O yeah another thing i can't understand about all this is, Remember a while ago when Snoop said there would be a DPG album out on Dogghouse records, where him and Daz beefing at the time? Surely u would'nt be "big-headed" enough to say that the Doggpound (Daz & Kurupt) where going to do an album on his label without consulting one of the main playas of the group (Daz) about it first..............
-
naw..their all good now :), daz was just mad cause he thought that he never got enough credit and shit like that
