Lol I love how he burned Smush and Kwame. This is real talk tho...
"This is a special crew. I have more bullets in the chamber now," Bryant said. "We had Smush Parker, who is not really playing now. We had Kwame Brown, who's in Memphis and not really playing much now. That was my point guard and my center, and in a pretty tough Western Conference, we still managed to win 45 games [in 2005-06] and get in contention. Now I'm fortunate to have weapons that my peers have had the last several years, with [Amare] Stoudemire and [Shawn] Marion, [Tony] Parker and [Manu] Ginóbili. Now I have weapons."

I'm still amazed that Kobe carried a team consisting of starters who included Kwame, Smush, and Luke to 47 wins.

45.
Same season he put up 62 points in 3 quarters. Same season he scored 81 points in a single regulation game. Same season he won the scoring title and made the all defensive first time. And what did that result in...

A lot of people are going to feel like idiots when he retires and they realize they just spent years hating on the potential GOAT for no reason.

I always backed Kwame and Smush, but I've also always said that they're not starting quality material. I've always said that Smush's ideal position would be the backup 2guard and Kwame the back-up center spot...I did believe in Kwame's potential, because he's shown flashes of excellence in the past, but unfortunately, he never proved he could get over the mental hump and is now obviously not mentally fit to be an all-star caliber player. I wouldn't mind if the Lakers re-signed him as a back-up center. He played very good man defense...PeACe

MJ was far from hated on.
-
^that post is wrong in many ways.
-
michael jordan is still the 2nd most popular American athlete behind Tiger Woods
dunno what that says about the state of the NBA lol

it says people hate on the NBa because they allow themselves to think that the NBA is nothing but selfish black players. In fact, the NBA has more team players than 10 years ago. Before, stars would want to take over games and now you have stars like LeBron, Kobe and Nash who pass with the best of them and big men like Howard who play great D. Before, MJ was the total package and basically everyone else was trying to get their free agent money. The game is better overall now than it was 10 years ago, and I SAID IT!

10 years ago, maybe...20 years ago is when the game peaked, though.

I agree with that. In the 80's, so many teams and so much talent that Jordan was having trouble getting out the playoffs. In the 90's, it seemed like everyone just let Jordan win and they just got their stats to get their free agent checks. Since the Laker's dynisty came apart in 2004, the NBA seemed like it was growing, but the last 2 years the NBA is a very entertaining league that I feel is better than the end of the Jordan era.

The league is definitely improving...but I'll be extremely surprised to see it ever reach the level of play it attained in the 80s. Especially with all the touch fouls and bullshit flagrants being called nowadays...too pussy.
