Omar Cruz, Rome, & LuLu: "The West Coast Grind" - April 15, 2008 By : Eddie
It's Tuesday, so that means we're back with another edition of Dubcnn's radio show that's got everyone talking: "The West Coast Grind" with Young De & Eddie. This week, we reached out to one of the most promising record labels in the industry, B.Y.I. Entertainment, and we got Omar Cruz, Rome, and B.Y.I. CEO LuLu to drop by the show as our guests.
This is an exciting week, since we've got an MC, a producer, and an industry executive on board to truly give you all angles of "The West Coast Grind".
In addition to discussing his latest records like "Gangsta Music" with The Game, "Hang With My Dogz", & "Born & Raised On The Westside", Omar speaks about being overlooked both as a Latino and as a West Coast artist. He tells us more about his debut album "The Sign Of The Cruz", and also goes into his future goals as an artist.
Rome talks about his compilation "Welcome To Rome", which will be dropping for free download on April 22nd. You'll get to hear a couple of records from the project, and Rome will tell you more about his production style along the way.
LuLu discusses the B.Y.I. movement, his vision for the label, and his motivations for forming the company. He also walks us through a typical day in his life as a record label owner.
All of this and much more is on this week's edition of "The West Coast Grind". Whether you've been curious to see what the B.Y.I. movement is all about, or you're a die hard fan already, you'll be in for a treat. Download the podcast below!

It's official - I absolutely love "Deja Vu." Really hits me in the heart, no lying. Thanks for playing that one, Eddie. Quite unexpected.
Rome had some heaters in the driver's seat. Will be looking forward to listening to his album soon.
P.S.: Ask him what kind of Spanish songs he uses on his records. Like, does he use Camilo Sesto, Leo Dan, Pasteles Verdes, Yndio and those dudes from the 1960's-1970's. Could have sworn the sample used in Conejo's performance sounds familiar.

Props on the show Eddie. This one and the Hot Dollar one are my favorites so far.

Finally got around to listening to this radio show. Like T-Dogg already pointed out: great to see Rome, LuLu & Omar on the same radio show. All of them had something interesting to say. Not just some random B/S like "my shit is the bomb!". They're insightful dudes when it comes to their field.
That "Welcome To Rome" mixtape looks promising. Pretty sure that'll be a heater.
On a side note, I've given that "Born & Raised On The Westside" song about 20 spins by now, but I'm just not feeling it. The beat itself is cool, with drum patterns being switched and all, but I find those synths annoying as hell.
Anyways, looking forward to "Sign Of The Cruz" 8)
