Title: Joe Calzaghe Vs. Bernard Hopkins
Post by: Hatesrats™ on April 19, 2008, 12:53:41 PM
Tonight's scheduled 12 round Light Heavyweight fight between the Bernard 'The Executioner' Hopkins (48-4-1, 32KO's) and Joe Calzaghe (44-0, 32KO's) should be a colossal affair of epic proportions. Dubbed the "Battle of the Planets", no other name could be more fitting as these two gladiators, separated by 7 years and many thousand miles, have found a destiny that will collide at center stage before the masses. Both considered future Hall of Famer's, there could be no better fight to be made. As we get set to embark on this grand affair, we take a very in-depth look at both men, as well as what it will take for each man to effectively redefine and/or seal his legacy.

Who do You Got?
I got to go with the experience factor in BIG fights, and BIG fight atmosphere.
That being said I take BHop in a very Dirty & Foul filled event.
there will be head butts & lot's of holding..
Bernard Hopkins by decision.

Hopkins is the underdog, but I think he can pull off a surprise victory here...even though he's 43, he's been a warrior throughout his life. LOL@him saying he'd never lose to a whiteboy, though.

He's stupid for saying that.

If Calzaghe would've said that he would never lose to a black man, there would've been a fuckin' uproar.

Fuckin' double standards.

Hopkins is going to have to have high punch counts to keep up with Joe. I think that alone will get Joe the early rounds. Close fight but I say Calzaghe by split decision. Rematch is then in another 6 months.  ;D

^ both fighters sucked balls.... this fight blew big time. I have Joe C. winning on aggression alone but we'll see in the next moments who won. Joe was punching like a girl tonight though.

True. I thought B-Hop did a good job negating Joe to get into a good rhythm with his punches early. But from the 4th on he got into the fight. Although I was not impressed at all by Joe's punching power in the least bit.

Shit fight..
Slapping & Running, holding and more holding.

Calzaghe get's the victory just because.
no solid punches landed whatsoever besides the knockdown. (Which in itself was a flash knockdown)

Calzaghe will not lose to any of the mentioned opponents like Tarver, Jones ect.
they are not aggressive enough. I say let's get the Ghost Kelly Pavlik in there with Joe.

Disapointing fight, especially as it was getting hyped up to be like the Hatton Mayweather fight. Credit to Calzaghe tho. Every time he comes up against someone they write him off, saying he hasn't faced any real tests. then goes out and wins again. what more can he do.

Good to hear Roy Jones Jr being respectful. saying Joe Calzaghe is a great fighter "the best pound for pound boxer in the world after mayweather"
and adding that he would love to fight Joe in Wales. I like that style. rather than all this bullshit u hear nowadays when some average boxer calls out the champ saying he hates him , he's going to destroy them. then soon as the fights done there best of friends.

Boring on both parts. Defensive by Hop and not attacking by Joe. Just a bit boring really.
