Title: West Coast producers who are best and worst at venturing out with other sounds..
Post by: R-Tistic on April 20, 2008, 12:33:24 PM
What producers do you think have been most successful, and unsuccessful, and attempting to make songs outside of their usual style? I won't really say that producing an R&B track that could have been a rap track is really "venturing" out...but more less, somebody who could almost disguise their style for a song or album and still do that style as good as the producers who only do that style.

Ones I can think of that are the best at doing it are:

Warren 'Baby Dubb' Campbell
Focus
Damizza
Dr. Dre

Daz is one of my favorites but that "Gangsta Crunk" album was unlistenable to me, I hope he does not revisit that path again

you can still hear the "southern" influence in his beats though

I think its because he started hanging out in Atlanta a while back, I don't know if he still resides there but since that time his beats started to have that influence
