Bobcats fire Vincent as coach after 1 season
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)—Sam Vincent was fired by the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday after just one season as coach.
The fourth-year franchise entered the season with hopes of making the playoffs for the first time, but went 32-50.
Part-owner Michael Jordan, who has the final say on all basketball decisions, took a gamble in hiring Vincent. He had never been an NBA head coach and had spent just one year in the league as an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks.
Vincent clearly suffered growing pains. He struggled to find a consistent rotation, constantly shuttling Raymond Felton between point guard and shooting guard. Vincent also angered players for questioning their effort and commitment in front of reporters.

Jordan is not a good executive. Period.

I personally already knew that. Bob Johnson and the Charlotte Bobcats apparently missed that memo. ;D

I always amazes me how people get signed for duties they don't belong in just because they kicked ass in another profession... Jordan was a helluva player, and there's no way he would've gotten that job if that wasn't the case.

Bobcats will make the playoffs with a good coach.

I'll agree..they have a decent pg in felton (good enough) a great pure scorer in jrich, a nice offensive/defensive combo in wallace and a center in okafor who is a hell of a defensive player and could dominate on the offensive end on any given night...this team should have done much better this season..

Did someone say Jordan took a gamble? lol

To be fair, it seems like they've been an injury plagued team since they came into the league. Have they even had a season without their first round pick getting injured? Okafor, Sean May, Adam Morrison, etc. But yeah, Sam Vincent wasn't ready...

Michael Jordan is the second largest shareholder in the Bobcats. He is the head of basketball operations.
AKA, he will be Kwame Brownin' with the Bobcats for a while..
I agree with dude who said the Bobcats have fell on tough luck with their draft pick's & Injury's
I defo see them becoming a force sometime in the next 2 seasons with that neucleus they have.
Sucks for Vincent, but someone had to catch the blame...
