Well since the Royals suck again I want to talk Chiefs draft because ESPN rated our draft to be the best out of any team in 08.
We got arguably the best player in the whole draft with Dorsey at #5. He was the highest rated player on our draft board. Even if we would of had the number 1 pick we would have gotten him.
We also got arugably the second highest offensive lineman at 17 which filled our greatest need.
We filled needs in our return game, wide reciever, picked up a great cornerback early in the second round...
...we basically covered nearly all our needs in just one draft... except one...
We still need a quarterback desperately. But Hermie lives in a dreamworld and thinks you can win in the NFL without a decent quarterback (see Chad Pennington).
...the Chiefs have the worst starting quarterback in NFL history with the 0-8 Brodie Croyle. We will never win with him at QB.

Herm is the anti-Jon Gruden. Gruden beefs up on QBs, especially when he left the Raiders. Herm I think wants to build that great team w/o a QB, and win it on the ground.
My Raiders continue to amaze me. A part of me was happy with Darren McFadden, but god damn, I haven't seen this many RBs on the Raiders roster since Allen and Bo were battling over playing time. Al loves speed, and I am waiting for that big game breaker at WR. Are main needs, Safety (that's been a need since Rod Woodson retired, but really it's been a weak spot since Eric Turner passed) WR (Porter is gone, Moss is long gone and everyone else is either injuried prone or just weak) and D-Line (Sapp is leaving a huge gap, but even he was losing his steam.)
At least the Cheifs can draft, the Raiders are still weak in there weak areas, and even stronger in their areas of strength.

You never know for sure how these players are going to perform, I do like the Chiefs picks, especially adding Jamaal Charles and DaJuan Morgan in the 3rd round. Charles can be a great change of pace with Johnson, and I think Morgan can be a really good safety. I wouldn't say Croyle is that bad, he can be alright, especially if one of the WR's they drafted step up to go along with Bowe. The Raiders are funny how they go about their picks, but it's hard to pass on a guy who looks like the next great running back. They already cut Rhodes, but they have a couple good backs, and if Javon Walker and Ronald Curry stay healthy, they can be a solid 1-2 combo with Drew Carter in the slot. They should be exciting on offense.

lol at the Raiders.... if they were smart they would of picked up Dorsey to fullfill a need. How many runningbacks they need? One for each quarter? They are the gift that keeps giving, the Chiefs get a gauranteed one or two wins every year for the last couple decades.

herm will run the team into the ground, don't worry.

yea, the Raiders don't even have a line to help McFadden out.
they were one of the worst teams in rush defense last year (2nd to last if I'm not mistaking), so drafting Dorsey woulda been a great move.
who gives a shit, its the Chiefs.

The Raiders changed their line blocking schemes and actually kept the same line as the last few years, but produced one of the best rushing teams in the league. Lamont Jordan, Justin Fargas and Dominic Rhodes all had at least 2 100 yard games. Even though Rhodes is gone, we still have Michael Bush and with McFadden, that's 4 RBs.
We should have got Dorsey... but we'll see what old man Davis has planned.
