Post by: GangstaBoogy on May 06, 2008, 11:58:39 AM
It'll be on ESPN News at 5:30 eastern, 2:30 pacific. NBA-TV will probably have it on too but I'm not sure if it'll be live.

He's still a little bitch....

lol

Naw, but he deserved it this year. I thought him and Paul were neck and neck. But, I think the Lakers coming in first put him over the top. And for all the nutriders...this isnt necessarily "overdue". Kobe had some great seasons over the last few years....but this is the first time his TEAM has actually been a force in a long time. The years when Nash, Dirk, etc were winning it...their teams were one of the favorites to win the title going into the playoffs. This is the first time a Kobe led team could say the same. If the Hornets had won 42 games this year....do you think Paul would have been one of the favorites to win MVP, no. But anyways, good shit Kobe.

Isn't the MVP the player most valuable to their team? Kobe shouldn't be penalized because he played with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown as primary starters for 2 seasons. The fact that he carried those teams to the playoffs was enough to make him MVP in '07 and definitely in '06. And he shoulda' won it in '01, '03, and '04 as well.

Wtf? Nah

01: The case can be made that Shaq was the best player on that team and Kobe was equal at best so you can't give it to him then.
04: He only played 66 games that year and his numbers were average.

There's no excuse in the world for him not having the 03 and 06 MVP trophys in his house. Especially 03, Kobe was insanely good that year. The all-around numbers were ridiculous and he was the main option that year since a certain someone came to training camp big as hell.

^this is how I see it, as far as who was better between Kobe and Shaq during the threepeat era...
2000 - Shaq was the best
2001 - 50-50
2002 - Kobe was the best

in 2001, Kobe shoulda gotten MVP...by that time, he already developed into the best overall player in the league and Shaq had just gotten an MVP trophy the previous year, so it shoulda gone to Kobe. The shit he pulled in '04 was amazing, considering he was supposedly going to take that season off. From flying to Coloroda and back just before tipoff of some big games, to leading that Payton-Malone-Shaq team (there's a reason his numbers were so low) to great success in the regular season, I think he was better overall than Garnett. '03 was the year Kobe started breaking Jordan's records. '06 was the historic season where he did some unbelievable shit...This should AT LEAST be his 3rd, but if the media loved him, it'd be his 6th...PeACe

Yes, the MVP is about who the most valuable player to their team is. No, it never gets decided SOLELY on that criteria. Its always decided based on how your team does too. Is it a coincidence that the MVP (in most sports) gets decided based on how good your team does? Why should the rules change for Kobe?

Your teams success is almost ALWAYS factored into the voting. Why should that be any different for Kobe? The MVP of the finals wont go to a player on the losing team either. Thats how it always is, there is no special circumstance just for Kobe lol

Okay, but that Lakers team WAS successful for what they had. I'm tryna figure out why Kobe would be penalized on an individual award due to the circumstances he was placed in? He did the most with what he had, and that should be enough to win him MVP. I know the journalists don't see it that way, but that's how the MVP SHOULD work IMO.

That kiss is a BEAUTIFUL kiss from a father to his 4 years old baby daughter.
I know you can't understand it, cause you don't have a baby princess too (i do).
But you will.

He's not raping her!

What's the fucking problem? Can't a father kiss her baby daughter? When i say to my daughter "Come on, give me a kiss baby!" she does the same thing. Every 4 years old babies in the world actually kisses their fathers and mothers this way. And you probably did it to to your parents, when you were 4. It's not scandalous at all. The scandalous thing is that people can't recognize good things from bad things no more. A daughter showin love to his father is something good.

I'm not joking: you'll understand the real meaning of "love" when you'll have a kid.

And trust me, there's nothing porno and nothing wrong in that kiss. You'll realize it.

Im with you on that I feel the MVP shouldnt REQUIRE your team to be a contender for the title....or a favorite to win it. All I'm saying is that it has been that way every other year, for every other player, in damn near every other sport. So to say Kobe should have won the MVP in other years....would mean the same thing for a lot of other players who didnt win it because their team wasnt as successful as another players.

All I'm saying is that it has been that way every other year, for every other player, in damn near every other sport. So to say Kobe should have won the MVP in other years....would mean the same thing for a lot of other players who didnt win it because their team wasnt as successful as another players.

The MVP in the NBA wasn't always awarded this way.

Even if she's his daughter......a kiss like that to a kid is UGLY
(http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/rids/20080508/i/r1701807603.jpg)

Yeah some people take their Kobe hate way too far. Dude is just giving his daughter an innocent kiss on the lips. Its not like he's frenching her and groping her.

Chris Paul has many years to come. He is playing much better than Kobe did at 23.

Show a picture of Kobe's wife already !!

The father/daughter bond is what keeps girls off of the stripper pole..... When I look at that pic of Kobe and his daughter, it's a beautiful thing. I don't have a daughter but I do have little nieces that are like the joys of my life.

Yes, the MVP is about who the most valuable player to their team is. No, it never gets decided SOLELY on that criteria. Its always decided based on how your team does too. Is it a coincidence that the MVP (in most sports) gets decided based on how good your team does? Why should the rules change for Kobe?

That's the thing. There is no set criteria! Kobe shoulda' been collected MVPs...Just admit it.

ALWAYS, no. For a long fuckin time, yes. You just didnt chose to complain about it until Kobe was affected.

^that's because until then, the best player in the league was usually on a top team.

Sasha's head wasn't in the game and he was being annoying as fuck... Kobe gave him that little elbow to set his attention straight.
