Just wanted to know how people felt about areas like Seattle and Portland. Both are on the west coast but they don't seem to get the same type of acceptance as being "west coast" cities from the rest of the country's perspective. Do yall think its a problem? could care less? think im wrong in my assumption? Speak ya mind.

yeah i mean they are westcoast "northwest" but IMO the reason they dont get the same love as killa kali is cuz killa kali is like its own identity. its like a country of its own. oregon bein a quiet state dont have as many rappers as killa kali and seattle area is not as known as killa kali!
and all the gangbangin and much more brings more attention to this state!
shit some even consider nevada and az westcoast and some dont!!!

Well of course it's still the west coast, most cities outside of Cali haven't established themselves in the hip hop scene though so there isn't widespread recognition. Not to say that there isn't good music coming out of say Portland or Seattle, but the area just hasn't blown up.

YEAH THEY BE FROM THE WESTCOAST BUT CALI'Z HIP HOP IS MORE ALIVE N WHEN PEOPLE THINK OF WEST THEY THINK OF CALI BUT DONT GET ME WRONG AZ N ALL THEM OTHERS GOT SOME RAPPERS COMIN' IN EXAMPLE DYME DEF N BLUE SCHOLARS IN SEATTLE JUICE HOT ROD N WILLIE NORTHPOLE FROM AZ

Yea all of u are absolutely right but i see something wrong with the fact that nobody here has blown up yet. Im wondering with all of the talent that has been through both cities throughout the 20+ year history of hip hop how has not ONE person been able to be found? (Dont count sir mix a lot cuz most people dont even know he was from seattle) What is it about the rest of the country that makes them think that when they hear west coast music that it HAS to come from cali? I know what u mean when you say that cali has its own identity and thats what people think about when they think west coast, but i think that is closed minded approach that keeps the other cities hidden from the rest of the country.

no. and don't let the canadian faggots from vancouver try to tell you otherwise (eye see you)

What I'm thinking is, it's not all MUSIC, but places like Portland & Seattle don't really have their own identity like Cali, New York, Atlanta, etc has. We have rappers in Portland. Cool Nutz been doin the damn thing for almost two decades now, and his music is good, but the overall sound just doesn't have it's own personality.

don't let regions fool you, if your DOPE.. your DOPE
there's alotta trash in cali, LA , compton, oakland, sactown ETC ETC
the only problem you'd have if you were a rapper/producer outside of CALI or other large markets like NYC/ATL/MIAMI are your business resources like record labels, venues to perform, music studios
other than that your good with the internet you can send over your mp3 of your music to whoever and network peace
