Title: Has Anybody Read Anne Frank Diary? (Music Related)
Post by: Lunatic on May 08, 2008, 12:29:38 PM
I am doing an english project on anne frank (book chosen for us)

i have to create a 5 song soundtrack for the themes in anne frank (love, war, relationships, positivity, etc)...i've got 2 songs thus far

Scarface, 2Pac, Johnny J - Smile
Wu Tang Clan - Never Again

any ideas for other songs?

Never read the book, but I was in the Anne Frank House not so long ago. I don't know the Wu-Tang song, but that Scarface joint doesn't exactly have the right vibe :-\ In fact, I don't think you should take any hip hop song at all. Try to find music from the 30s or 40s.

The WuTang song certainly fits because its actually a song directly about the holocaust - i dont think its a wu tang song directly, some wu tang affiliates.

i dunno, i briefly played my teacher the scarface joint and she approved of it...peep the 2pac intro alone

heres gon be some stuff you gon see
Thats gon make it hard to smile in the future.
But through whatever you see,
Through all the rain and the pain,
You gotta keep your sense of humor.
You gotta be able to smile through all this bullshit.
Remember that.
Mmm, yeah.
Keep ya head up.yeah.

i think u can relate that to holocaust (stuff we've seen make it hard 2 smile) Anne frank remains pretty positive throughout the book about her situation (3rd and 4th line). and so on.

its just a rough version, but i think im going to run with those 2 tracks...any ideas y'all for any others?

That there
That's not me
I go
Where I please
I walk through walls
I float down the Liffey
I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here
I'm not here

In a little while
I'll be gone
The moment's already passed
Yeah it's gone
And I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here
I'm not here

Strobe lights and blown speakers
Fireworks and hurricanes
I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here
I'm not here

Using hip hop for Anne Frank is like using John Legend for cavemen.

Yeah Hip-Hop has nothing to do with Anne Frank and doesn't fit the topic at all... In fact you shouldnt use music with spoken words... But hey its on you...

lol let me break it down for y'all again

it doesnt have to direct to anne frank at all - just the themes in the book which are very common (war - doesnt have to be the holocaust, just something about war in general...love - doesnt have to be about the love relationships in anne frank, just love in general)

y'all get it?

We get it, but we just still think it's stupid to use a Hip-Hop track as the theme for a Anne Frank report lol.

How about this one?

02-the_prodigy-their_law.mp3 - 8.80MB (http://www.zshare.net/audio/11817859d5a876f1/)

This really reminds me of the energy she must've had when she got arrested. The lyrics also fit well of course.

well i aint no shit bout any other genre

well, with the current state of hip hop i think you should start to learn about other genres.

i can barely listen to rap these days, apart from my favourite records. i'm on everything from Soul to Drum and Bass, Rock to Classical.
