Title: Greatest 90's Rap Group
Post by: TraceOneInfinite on May 14, 2008, 12:15:56 AM
Bone and Dogg Pound had a beef back in the day, but they are both very similar.  From 93 thru 97 anything the Dogg Pound was on was fire!... they couldn't miss... same with Bone, from 94 thru 98 Bone never missed, and ripped everything they were on, from guest appearances "Thug Luv", "Notorious Thugs" and songs they gave up to soundtracks "Dayz of Our Lives" to work with local artists "Thug Devotion".  Since Dogg Pound and Fugee's only had one great album and Bone had 3 (Creep On A Comeup, East99, Art of War)..

my vote= Bone

I'd say Bone Thugs.  Their two classics > DPG's one classic.  Both were two of my favorite groups though.

As i think about this more, it's a tie between DPG/Cypress Hill/Wu. These are the 3 groups i've always been listenin the most.

EDIT: Fuck i forgot about Westside Connection :-\

Probably would have to say Outkast, but I did not see Cypress Hill on that list either. That group did damage in the 90's also.

definitely. wu is probably the best group in hip hop history. no body came out and smashed everything quite like they did.
plus they helped redefine what hip hop sounds like.

i would say, cypress hill, outkast, bone thugs , the fugees, the dogg pound, boot camp click, after wu tang. these are probably
the biggest/most influential as far as groups went.

A tribe Called Quest
Wu Tang Clan
Gangstarr
OutKast

but yeah since its a westcoast board expect alot of people saying that Tha Dogg Pound is the best rap group ever
Title: Re: Greatest 90's Rap Group
Post by: HimselfTheMajestic on May 14, 2008, 10:03:51 PM
oh shit i completely forgot about gangstarr and tribe, both really influential groups.
plus psycho realm.

i gotta stand by mine though, wu tang clan definitely.
they flipped the game as a group and in their own way
as solo mc's.
nobody dropped more classic albums as a collective.
plus rza set the standard for hip hop production.

man, wu tang forever, 36 chambers dont aren't even the tip of the berg,
ironman, return to 36 chambers, only built for cuban linx, liquid swords, supreme clientele,
tical etc. etc.

i gotta add a couple more honorable mentions, UGK and the Geto Boys gotta get representation too.

I agree.  It's all a matter of preference though.  Typed with a straight face: DPG, W.C., Bone, NWA > Outkast.
