Back once again WCC ;) Thanks once again to all of you who gave feedback in my Venice Beach/Malibu thread. It's appreciated.
I'm at DAY 4 right now, and we're going to visit San Diego that day. A few questions on that matter:
1) We're going to pay a visit to SeaWorld. How much time do I have to calculate for that visit if we want to see the main attractions? I've searched the website, but unlike Universal Studio's website, it doesn't mention how much time it can take to take the tour. An estimate would come in handy.
2) On SeaWorld's website it says that you can have breakfast and lunch in their restaurant. I was wondering: is this worth it? Something tells me that having lunch in SeaWorld will be expensive due to the 'wonderful environment'. If it's NOT expensive to have lunch there, do you get a decent meal for the price you pay? Or do they overcharge you for - let's say - a tiny steak with fries?
Then again, I've read their policy and it's prohibited to bring in any drinks or food, so something tells me you're pretty much obliged to have lunch there. Feel free to give suggestions, comments, thoughts...
3) What else is worth going to in San Diego? Please keep in mind that my parents, my grandma & my brother are with me on this trip. So, if possible, try to give some suggestions that could please all of us. We're quite open-minded when it comes to visiting cities: beautiful botanic gardens, interesting architectural buildings, good shopping blvds, cheap music stores, ...anything goes. Thx!
That's it for now.
As for DAY 5 of our trip, I'm thinking of heading to either Phoenix or skipping Phoenix and going straight to the Grand Canyon area. I've just googled Phoenix, and at first sight, I don't think there's anything worth spending a day there. Any comments on that matter are welcome as well. Thanks.

YOU GOTTA SPEND MORE THAN ONE DAY IN SAN DIEGO, FUCK PHOENIX.
SEA WORLD COULD TAKE ALL DAY WITH SHOWS...GET THERE AROUND 2:00
THERE'S ALSO THE
WILD ANIMAL PARK 8)
WORLD FAMOUS ZOO
BALBOA PARK & MUSEUM
GASLAMP QUARTER
-
do something spontaneous on day 5 from 11 am till 5 pm.
-
DON'T BOTHER VISITING TIJUANA :P
ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU'RE FOREIGN ALREADY AND THEY'RE HAVING A DRUG WAR DOWN THERE.

Well, that's your opinion. "De gustibus et coloribus non disputandem" ;) Don't forget that.
Me & my family have been going to holiday destinations like the Canary Islands, the Dominican Republic, Mauritius, etc for roughly 15 years now. Each year has been pretty much the same: laying at the hotel's swimming pool or going to the nearby beach.
We want something totally different this year, and I've wanted to go the States since I was about 12. So, we decided to make a trip to the West Coast: LA-San Diego-Las Vegas-San Francisco, and in between those cities make a few stops at some National Parks.

That looks like a place my parents & grandma will definitely like. Thx for the link bro 8) That's why I decided to make this thread. I can surf the Web all I want for my West Coast-trip, but coming across restaurants or places like these...that's just pure luck when you're randomly surfing. It comes in handy when you know people who are FROM the area.
-
I would go to the San Diego Zoo. 8)
-

that place is real clost to my pad, its my favorite taco shop in the WORLD.
you MUST go there.
part of going to sd is finding the ebst mexican food in the world without going to mexico. You're doing yourself a great disservice if you dont.
I dont know about the food spots in seaworld, I've never really been a fan fo sea world but I do know it can go from 5 hours to one day. If youre planning to see daygo and you only want one day, I'd say skip sea world, check out oldtown, check out the whaley house, it's haunted I used to work there its pretty dope and the shit was on tv, the show America's most haunted.
yea man, you're lucky to be hitting up SD, I'll be back home in 2 weeks.
-
if yall like to gamble, hit up the Barona Valley Ranch..its probably the best casino in Cali..

The San Diego Zoo and The Wild Animal Park are both worth it...

yah, I won $2500 on a fuckin slot machine there before.
As for SD, if you hear on the weekend during the summer....hit up South Mission Beach. Belmont Park area. They got some lil shops and an old fucked up Roller Coaster. But a lot of people, you can hit the boardwalk or the park too.
-
Dude, you need to be in San Diego for at least a week. Hit up Belmont Park in Mission Bay. Mister A's is pimp. Spend a day at Balboa Park and grab dinner at The Prado.

Belmont Park looks like fun, but keep in mind that my grandma is going on this trip too. Going to an amusement park is not exactly something for her. Besides, I can go to amusement parks here in Belgium too ;) Thx for the suggestion though.
Balboa Park sounds interesting though. Just browsed through their website. Some cool things there, for my parents AND for my brother and me.
Instead of spending only one day in SD, it might turn out to be two days now...
Keep the feedback coming!
Btw: what about Phoenix? I'm thinking of skipping Phoenix and going from SD straight to the Grand Canyon...
-
Goddamn you're doing a lot of planning... Do you really need to know what you're gonna be doing each minute of your trip? Btw, I'm afraid the L.A. traffoc could ruin some of your too tightly planned days lol. Always keep traffic in mind...
Have fun though, I know you've been talking about this trip for years now!
-
There's not a whole lot to do in Phoenix. I have family there, and when I visit, I usually end up in Scottsdale, which is about 15 minutes away. Scottsdale is smaller, but nicer with better night life. The only thing they've got going for them are museums with Native American artifacts and what not. I'd skip it.
-
Yeah you're juist gonna be hot in Phoenix lol.
-
YOU SHOULD HAVE SKIPPED LA AND CAME STRAIGHT TO SAN DIEGO
LA ISN'T A TOURIST ATTRACTION...DRIVING THROUGH LA IS ENOUGH.
OH AND EVERYONE FROM PHOENIX COMES TO SAN DIEGO TO VACATION DURING THE SUMMER 8)
-
san diego zoo.. and stop by a supermarket and buy some peanuts
its fuckin bad ass feeding huge elephants peanuts i got that shit on footage .. they crunch the peanuts with there trunk Lol
-
forget about Phoenix... just go to Vegas. It's family-friendly these days. Or go to Laughlin and take a cruise on the river with a cold Corona in hand.
-
One day in Sea World is enough.
As for Arizona: there's plenty of stuff to do, but the distances are quite big. Montezuma Castle, Flagstaff, Old Tucson, the Grand Canyon, the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine in the Superstition mountains... these are all great places to visit, but like I said the distances are big.
-

its not an amusement park though. just the one roller coaster. Its just a bunch of shops on the beach with a bunch of parks to chill at.

naw, theres a ton of tourist shit in LA. Its just that San Diego is damn near geared towards tourism. Its the whole reason the city puts in a ton of work to make people believe that SD has this squeaky clean image and that its all beaches and palm trees. Tourism.
-
I spent a day in Hollywood a few weeks ago. I had a panini.

I hear you, but I just want a decent schedule in advance so I can make reservations (hotels, restaurants maybe, order tickets for certain parks, ...) as early as possible. I'm not taking any chances of going to the West Coast unprepared. I want to know what we can do once we're there. Wasting time over there is not something I can afford. Going on this trip will be expensive enough as it is. That's why I want some sort of plan. We don't necessarily have to stick to it then, but at least we got something to work with...
Thx for the feedback guys! I'm about to start planning my trip to the Grand Canyon 8)
-
You're goin against the whole idea of the west coast. Just show up and relax. Just get there, and do what you feel like doin that day.
-
^^ I was gonna post the same thing... but i guess he's going with his brother, parents and grand parents so that's a different story... lol.
-
^^^^Exactly. If I was there on my own or just me & my brother, I think I'd hit up other things. I'd still plan it though, but it would probably be a bit more 'hip-hop oriented'. I was planning to attend a few studio sessions (Omar Cruz, Clinton Wayne, Crooked I, Bad Lucc, etc...) but since this has become a family-trip, it probably won't happen. Some other time maybe. I don't really mind though. The things we're going to visit DO seem pretty cool 8)

Don't spend there more than 1 night.

I hear you. Thx for the tip. I was planning on spending one day there (get there the night before, take a tour early in the morning, ride around/walk around the rest of the afternoon, watch the sunset [I've heard it's worth it, go back to the hotel that same night so we can go to the next destination the next day).

There's a crater somewhat near the Grand Canyon. You might wanna visit that also. It's very impressive :)

^^^^You're right. Shit looks pretty impressive, even on photograph! We might hit that up...
But me being a control-freak, I'll have to see if I can include it in my tight schedule ;)

I might get back at you with some more questions about my Grand Canyon trip. I'll start planning it this weekend.
