Title: Just Blaze & Kanye West
Post by: Murrow on September 24, 2002, 08:55:41 AM
I always get these two mixed up.  I'm not big on East Coast producers, so can someone quickly summerize each style and which songs they did?

Thanks...

Kanye West: Talib Kweli - Good 2 You
Talib Kweli - Guerilla Monsoon Rap

Just Blaze: Cam'ron - Oh Boy
                  Cam'ron - Welcome to NYC

Just 4 songs which came to mind first. In my opinion, Kanye West is better, and his style is distinct and unrepetitive.

Kanye West - brilliant crate digger, fantastic samples & huge (and I mean huge!) drums. His mentor was No ID.
Just Blaze - technoid stuff like "React", is more versatile than Kanye - he can do both the sample shit and compose a track

Oldschool HipHop heads might prefer Kanye, but at the end of the day Just Blaze takes home the award for the Roc's best beatsmith.....

P.S. I prefer Kanye, but Just is better....
