After filing for bankruptcy in 2006, a judge has ordered Suge Knight to auction off all assets for Death Row Records to the highest bidder on June 24.
The document, obtained by TMZ.com, describes what must be sold as "substantially all of the recorded music business assets of the estate, along with substantially all of the music publishing business assests of the bankruptcy estate of Marion 'Suge' Knight..."
The minimum starting bid is $24 million, and bids must be made by June 10.
Those interested may possibly include Afeni Shakur, who has tried to get her son's original work in the past, and Dr. Dre or Snoop Dogg, as many artists have expressed their desire to own their master recordings and publishing rights.

If it contributes to the opening of the vaults and the creation of new albums I just got one word : Nice!

nah nobody is talking about some crazy shit...suge and the label owner or reps know each other very well .both parties know the case was fucked up..both parties know 25 million is a joke for that empire...its like you know you bought somethings that got stolen... so im sure they will find an understanding ...that suge doesnt get the feeling the buyer is his enemy :)

I doubt that. The music industry is ruthless. Whoever buys those masters won't give a fuck about seeing that Suge gets paid anymore than Suge was worried about paying Dre or Snoop for their work after they left. It's gonna be a record label buying those masters and none of these majors give a shit about doing right. If they aren't legally required to pay someone, they aren't gonna break them off no money because they feel it is owed.

I got 10 bucks... if we all pitch in maybe we can get hold of those masters and hear some unreleased stuff

Nah, this time they actually listed the recordings in the vaults this time.

if afeni gets it, she'll release it as remixes throwing some wack ass rapper on every song
if dre gets it, that shit will sit in his vault until his grandkids are broke and need money

If you have a lawyer you can request a full listing of the assets up for sale, which would presumably include a listing of every master recording you would receive if your bid was enough. Personally I hope E1 (koch's parent company) gets it. If they do then they'll be pumping out compilations, deluxe editions, anniversary editions, et al until they re-coup their original losses, the cost of the acquisition 25 mill and make some profit, which in my approximation roughly = 10,000 projects ;D
Seriously though I like them because they don't have hidden agendas/interests like Amaru and Interscope, they're just in it to make money and recoup their enormous losses. The easiest way to do that would to just put everything out quick and easy.

hahah I can just picture what Daz would do with the records if he were to get his hands on em... He'll probably add "Fuck Suge Knight" or "Suge Knight can eat a fat dick" on every track.

Yup.

Doesn't Afeni already own the rights to Pac's music anyway? I also thought I read somewhere that Interscope was likely to end up being the highest bidder.

Not all tracks. She won't buy certain guest features back either. Apparently 1 Mill is too high to buy a track back.
