It's time for the third and final part of our extensive interview series with Xzibit, "The Life And Times Of Xzibit", which we've been dropping on dubcnn throughout the past week. In the first two parts, we discussed everything from X's childhood, how he got into rapping, the Likwit Crew, his success with Dr. Dre, and moving to an independent label.
We also spoke about his various beef situations, with Snoop Dogg, Tha Alkaholiks, the incident where he got attacked, and how Strong Arm Steady for formed and why he left the group.
This is Part 3, where we get a few more words on the "Full Circle" album, Xzibit's song "Thank You", his relationship with The Game, who X is feeling right now, the evolution of Hip-Hop, his plans for the future, a possible new album and much more.
Check out the final part of Xzibit's dubcnn interview below:

As most of you probably already heard, Xzibit's new born son Xavier Kingston Joiner passed away after only eleven days last monday. The funeral for Xavier was on the 31st of May, the dubcnn staff would like to express our condolences to Xzibit and his family, and let them know that they are in our payers.
In a recent MySpace blog, Xzibit thanked his fans for the huge support they've shown him in these hard times, and to show his appreciation he decided to release the long awaited video to his song "Thank You", which hadn't come out yet. We actually talk about this video in Part 3 of the interview (the video hadn't been released yet when the interview was done), so make sure to check it out below:

-
props to dubcnn for that dope interview. X is one of the coolest cats in the music industry.
Dubcnn: You've been involved in three different crews, the Likwit Crew, the DPG Crew and the Strong Arm Steady Gang. But you're still an Alkaholik at heart right?
An Alkaholik at heart? Man, I don't drink as much as I used to, but the spirit is there! *laughs*
;D
-
thanks for the interview ;)
Dubcnn: So what's up with a new Xzibit album?
It's coming, it's coming. I don't have a name for it yet, but I got some heatrocks on it, my nigga.
Dubcnn: Who would you like to work with on this one, production wise?
I don't know yet, I'ma see what's happening with it. I'ma take my time with it. Each track is going to mean something, each one of these songs I have to make count.
hopefully he'll have Sir Jinx on there, and maybe even Dr.Dre ( still don't understand why there was no Dre on weapons of mass destruction) :P

Great interview Nima, it's real fun reading it. Seems like he understood what you are about. Xzibit seems to be a real down to earth guy, not talking bad about other rappers and is not acting like he's the king of rap.
Thanks for the interview Nima and taking your time, Xzibit.

gd read. cheers

The overall response to this series has been immense! Great work nima
-
props nima..my favorite interview to date homie. X has become my favorite MC slowly but surely. Seems to be one of if not the only cat in my eyes that has kept it 100 consistently through out his career. great read and hopefully we'll get to hear some quality shit from him in the near future.
-
Props! Did you finish all these before his son passed away? Because X seems pretty happy at the time of the interview.
-
The interview was done 2 days before his son was born... 13 days before he passed away.. :/
-
Props to Nima.. that was a great interview. I grew up listening to Xzibit I still remember reading about him for the first time in a 96 summer issue of the Source, like a lot of artists from that era he had integrity and his own creativity that made you take notice of him.
That interview was a nice trip down memory lane. From 2000 to 2003 Xzibit was my favorite rapper behind Pac, Nas, and Eminem. And "Paparazzi" is still one of the best rap songs ever to me.
I never knew his first album At the Speed of Light went gold in Germany, that was an interesting story. And I also like what he said about the new school of rappers and fans not valueing what he values, that was on point, I feel the same way.
Nice interview bro, salaam.

That was a good interview. Looking forward to hearing his new album.

Appreciate it man, I feel the same, X was always one of the cats I listened to the most and who stayed dope consistently (to me). I was very pleasently surprised to see how normal and down to earth he is in reality. I don't know if you saw the concert footage i upped (www.dubcnn.com/interviews/xzibit-liveinhamburg) but X gave a shoutout to dubcnn on stage at the end of the show, that was a real good look.
