Post by: Javier on June 04, 2008, 03:33:33 PM
Group A

Switzerland
Czech Republic
Portugal
Turkey

Group B

Austria
Croatia
Germany
Poland

One of these 8 teams will be in the Final.  My pick: Portugal

These two groups are boring... I'm just hoping Croatia or Poland can surprise as well as they did during their qualifying matches.

And I'd be willing to bet some of my rental money on Portugal for being the finalist from these two groups.

Switzerland, Czech Republic, Portugal, Turkey, Austria, Croatia, Germany, Poland

Do you not find that a boring list? Germany's always fun to watch, for the sake of it being Germany, and Portugal will most likely do well and play some attractive football, but the thought of watching fifteen matches between these eight countries just bores me. That's why I'm hoping for the unexpected :)

Well look at group D and tell me that is more interesting... group C kills the tournament, the rest is boring in comparison

Well... Spain - Russia on June 10 will be very interesting I believe. Plus, it'll be interesting to see the performance of Greece, four years later. Other than that, you're basically right (plus, similar things can be said for groups A and B). Perhaps it would be right for the UEFA to return to 8 participating teams, like it was before 1996. Couldn't do that though, for obvious commercial reasons...

Germany will be the team in the final IMO. Watch out for Russia and Croatia though...

this part of the bracket is a joke .. maybe Croatia can pull off an upset, if not it's walk in the park for Portugal and Germany ... will be an interesting matchup between 2 very different style of play
