Omar Cruz: From DUBCNN to CNN!! [Video] - June 4, 2008 By : Eddie
Omar Cruz recently did another interview with a media outlet, but this time, instead of doing with us here at Dubcnn, he did it with a little news channel called CNN.
Hold up! CNN!? We've seen Snoop on there before, but what other hip-hop artists get coverage like that? Omar Cruz and B.Y.I. Entertainment continue to impress us with how far their movement has reached! Check out a behind-the-scenes video of their trip to CNN by clicking the link below.

Omar's appearance on the show should air in the next week, and we'll keep you posted when we know the exact details. Until then, Omar has dropped off another record for you to listen to. This one is a remake of The Game's current hit "Pain." O. Cruz will be shooting a video to the record in the near future as well, so be on the look out for that!

They probally just going to do a street video. That would be dope cuzz on this record he is showing a lot of respect to all the latin mc's that open doors for him. So if he can show all them on the video that will be dope.

Omar on CNN? I wonder how that came about, seriously. Sure, he's an up-and-coming latin rapper who's signed to a major label, but I wasn't expecting him to be on Larry King 8) Talk about having major exposure.
"Omar's Pain" is a cool song, but I can't say I like the idea of him shooting a (probably low-budget) video for it. Don't see the point in it.
I'd much rather hear him say that they've already shot a video for "To The Top" (ft. Frankie J) and that they'll drop the video on major TV outlets next week. Because in my opinion, it has been rather quiet around this song. I really feel it has got some potential to do well on radio & TV, but it's been like what, a month now since the song dropped? And still no video?
I hope they don't let the buzz of this song die out only to THEN drop a video (when it's actually already too late).
On the other hand, I'm pretty positive that BYI knows what they're doing, so let's just hope that they've got everything planned out perfectly: shooting the video, releasing it & then drop the album in the summer.

Dubcnn: How do you feel about the new breed of latin rappers such as Omar Cruz and Joell Ortiz?
I like Joell Ortiz, I think he's one of the better new latin rappers coming out. He's really dope, he's very lyrical, atleast from what I've heard. I've heard a few songs that he's done, I like him a lot, he's got a good delivery, he's got a good flow. Omar Cruz, he's okay. It's not something that I normally listen to, not my type of rapper, but Joell Ortiz is definitely dope.

Crafty you should know that you can't blow up a song in 1 MONTH especially not here in Cali. It's getting alot of spins but it seams like it's just building. My homies in san diego told me that they are starting to play it alot out there also. As for the video I agree with you about them doing a video real soon for cruz single "To the top" real soon!! I would not mind to see a cool little street video for cruz's pain. Especially if they get alot of the artist that he is talking about on the song. It will not hurt him at all. Every other artist makes street videos like for example "Game" did it for 911 so i think cruz should do one for cruz's pain.

Was hoping for a mid-summer release, but I guess September should do the trick as well.
Although that makes me wonder why they released the "To The Top" single so early to the radio stations. Who drops the official single in late May when the album won't drop until mid-September? That's about 3 months in between! Am I the only one who doesn't see the logic here? ???
If the strategy works, then I'd say "hell fucking yeah", but somehow I fail to understand why they dropped the single so soon. I'm saying all this assuming that this release date is accurate...

Alright then. I guess it's on and popping from now on 8) B.Y.I. has never announced a release date to which they didn't stick (example: Omar's mixtapes). They also held back from announcing a release date for the album, 'cause they weren't sure yet when it was gonna drop. So what's the point in giving the fans a date that would've probably not stuck anyhow.
But with Omar announcing it on Power 106...I think it's safe to say that this date will stick. Can't wait! :) Thx for the heads-up btw.
