Title: Iker Casillas
Post by: Elano on June 10, 2008, 10:44:57 AM
What's your thoughts about Iker Casillas ?
Is he really the best goalkeeper after Buffon ? I don't see nothing special about him,honestly......  ::)

lol...I wish we had casillas. You can't count how many times he saved Real's ass. Without him, real wouldn't have won CL

IMO:

1.) Buffon (yesterday was hell for him, but he couldn't do much)
2.) Cech
3.) Casillas & Van Der Sar

those are the greatest at the moment

^ remember Del Piero's free kick? Maybe Casilla is a little bit better overall, but then Van Der Sar would come in 4th for me still

first game vs Barcelona Van Der Sar was fuckin up everytime he touched the ball  :-\

Buffon still the number 1,after him there's Julio Cesar and Casillas.
Cech is no more the same after the incident,so...for me:
1)Buffon
2)Julio Cesar - Casillas
3)Boruc
4)Cech

that's true about VDS: He plays amazing games (like he just did), but sometimes he just has a bad day and fucks up all the time. That's why he can't touch Buffon or Cech

I do agree.

Anyway maybe not everybody knows that Van Der Sar is considered maybe the worst GK to ever play for Juventus. I mean he was so embarassing with us it's unreal to see how good he performed in Manchester after that disaster.

his kicking has let him down at times for us but overall been solid.

Buffon is the best keeper for me.

If I remember correctly Van der Sar once said in an interview he wasn't happy in Italy. He feels more at home in England.

In Italy? Yes.

He's still young. The other ones played in Champions League finals, in World Cup finals... proved themselves at high levels more than JC.

Anyway JC is good, yeah. He has the skills to replace VdS.

In italiano: secondo me Casillas è un portiere completo.
E' in crescita verticale.

Interesting, I never really took a lot of notice of JC, since I don't watch a lot of league football...I agree about Casillas, he's a pretty complete goalkeeper, and the fact he has no real weaknesses and almost never really fucks up is also why I think he's at least as good as VDS, maybe, if I think about it, even slightly better, if less spectacular

casillas è 10 anni che gioca al real ?  ???

Reina has won the golden glove for the last three season in the prem

plus broken a fair few clean sheet records

he goes above cech and VDS imo for his age distribution and consistency

cant really speak on buffon an casillas as dont watch therm often enough

^^ ok, but you're biased :)

While I probably wouldn't say Reina's better than VDS or Casillas (there's a reason he still is Spain's No. 1) and definitely not Cech or Buffon, he's definitely one of Europe's top keepers

reina lol, cech vds are easily better than him.

What is the golden glove ? He hasnt been in the PFA team of the seaon in the last 3 years, as for keeping a load of clean sheets that more to do with liverpools negative style of football and the fact it protects reina.
