7even predicts:
Turkey - Germany 1:4
Spain - Russia 2:1
-
germany will have an easy game (lucky fucks) cause of all the turkish suspensions and injuries. or will they strike again in the 93rd or 122nd minute? small chance tho.
for the other game i'd rather see russia win but spain is good too.
i just want russia/spain to destroy germany (or turkey).
-
Germany is hella lucky here, this reminds me of '02, when the referees pushed the South Koreans into the world cup semis :D No hating though, of course, since the Germans are not to be blamed for that. Yes, they should win, 4-1 is a pretty high result, I say:
Germany - Turkey: 3-1
The other game should be dope. I think the Spanish will be much more acutely aware of what the Russians are capable of than the Dutch were, so I think they're gonna take it. The spell is broken, cause Spain won 1. in a quarter final, 2. in a penalty shootout and 3. on the 22nd of June. It couldn't get any better and they'll be in high spirits, still the Russians, as everybody should know by now, are a tough ass opponent. It will not be 4-1 again, so I'm gonna agree with my nigga 7even here:
Spain - Russia: 2-1
-
Germany 3-0
Spain 2-1
-
russia 2-0 spain
germany 3-1 turkey
-
I'm not gonna predict anything, but I think the winner of the tournament will come from the 2nd semi final...
-
russia-spain 3-1
germany-turkey 2-0
finals russia-germany 3-1
-
Germany 3 - 0 Turkey
Russia 1 - 0 Spain
Russia wins the tournament, end of the story.
-
The winner of Russia-Spain will win it all
-
The winner of Russia-Spain will win it all
Should. But you know those Germans...
All the Dutch now giving it to Russia, hehe. I'm not so sure, but it could actually happen

The third goalkeeper Tolgan Zengin will (probably) play as a striker :D

It's pure comedy with a German happy ending

That alone will make it a historical game. Seriously though, the Turks fucked it up for themselves with the way they fought to get to the semi's. They'll hardly stand a chance now... Although of course, they wouldn't have gotten this far, had they slowed it down on the cards...
-
^ valid point, but it's cards AND injuries
-
I can't believe those filthy Turks are in the semi's
-
^ valid point, but it's cards AND injuries
Well, that's true, but injuries can happen to anyone (even though of course the likeliness of getting injured depends on the way you play). There's four Turks suspended for the semi-final though... That's where they really are personally responsible. If Turkey lose, they'll have Volkan, Arda, Emre Asik and Tuncay to blame.

True dat, I was just saying...Anyways, is Volkan still suspended? He did pretty much the same thing Schweinsteiger did, didn't he, isn't that usually a one-match suspension, or did I miss anything particularly cruel?
-
Volkan's push was way harder than Schweinsteiger's .. youtube 'em both and you can see in case you don't remember, the 2-game-suspension is legit imo...

Yeah, I guess you're right about that, still I just think it's technically so similar that I find it kind of difficult to draw a line. I think one game would have been ok for Volkan as well, it's a definite red card, but nothing outstandingly vicious
-
WOW 1-0 Turkey 22 mins in :o :o shitty ass goal, lol Lehmann is terrible.
-
LOL Germany with the equalizer.
-
entertaining match
-
god i wish i could be watching this. stuck at bloody work and were not even busy. if we had Flash on these PCs i'd be able to watch it on the BBC website...

-
I wish I could be watching this too, fucking power cuts made me miss the goal.
-

Spanish women >>>>>>>>>>>> German women. Let Spain win this shit.
Anyways, good for Germany, but they've been very lucky their opponent had such a naive defense, because offensively and overall Turkey was the better team. Nevertheless, they fucked it up for themselves.
Let's see what 7even will type in caps when he gets home drunk. Unless he's killed in a riot.
-
Oh yeah, and 7even better replace Ballack with Lahm. Ballack still hasn't done shit in the whole tournament except for a good free kick and an irregular goal.
Lahm >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> overrated ass Ballack

So long Turkey!

You can laugh, you can party, you can smile and you can even win... but you will always remain German. Whatever you do, you always lose ;)
-
Kinda undeserved imo. I think the Turks would have easily taken it, had they had their normal line-up. They've been great entertainers though.
-

If you look at who played better in this game, I'd agree... but Turkey had more chances and didn't score. If your opponent scores more than you do, your opponent deserves the win. Germany even should have gotten a penalty. So overall I actually think Germany deserved the win. They played better throughout the entire tournament too.

Lahm wasn't that bad, he would've gotten a freekick/penalty (not sure, I think it was freekick, but very close - he kinda fell into the box there) if Busacca hadn't been asleep in that situation, he scored (and basically created) the 3-2 and he did some decent stuff. What's true is that he was kind of overchallenged with the Turkish offense and he should have gotten a yellow at some point.
As for Ballack, fair enough, I might be hating on him a little. Has to be said, I do acknowledge he's a very good and important player for the German team and he has leadership skills that make him irreplaceable. What I just don't get is how people keep acting like he's some Zidane-style creative genius, he simply isn't. He's a very solid player and important for the German team and Chelsea, but he just isn't a creative genius or the guy with the big ideas and that's where I think he's dramatically overrated.
I'm not hating on y'all by the way. The word "schmeichelhaft" might have come to my mind earlier this evening, but then to be honest truth is Turkey beat Turkey and so Turkey has lost this game. The fact that Germany hence won it is a side effect.

yup we were lucky, was very disappointed again, but who gives a fuck ;D 7 World Cup Finals + 6 Euro Finals= Germany= Winner-Team
-
^^ Well, that's one way to look at it. Indeed, the Germans were more effective and more skilled. The Turks put up well though, but they simply lack the quality to really overrun their opponents. They have the will to win, but that doesn't necessarily pay off. It did plenty of times, but this time it failed.
The Germans however, are very... German. They haven't really impressed in one match (although they deserved to beat Portugal), and still they made it to the final. That's how Germans play football. That's how you win.

I completely disagree with you here. Ballack is everything but a leader. He is very important because he scores many important goals, but his only leader competence is his complaining. And I don't know who claimed that he is a creative genius, maybe the media? But somehow I can understand the hype since he's the only world class player atm. I could agree with your last sentence if you cross out "dramatically".
By the way schmeichelhaft fits perfect
And the Lahm situation wasn't a penalty

lahm cant even fukin defend.. he cudnt defend himself wid an ak47 against a toddler..

nah hes one of the best defenders in the world but i agree he sucked today
-
^ defensively, he kinda did suck I guess, maybe I myself didn't pay enough attention to his defending. But he was 90% responsible for the goal that wrapped things up and he had some more good scenes in offense.

Ok, you seem to have a pretty clear look at things for a fan, have a prop :D
1. Well, Ballack's not one hell of a leader on the pitch, it's more his persona. I don't like him. His bitching about every second referee decision is on a par with Ronaldo's crying. But he's the guy that speaks for the team, that motivates people, etc. That's what I mean by it. He doesn't lead a team by the way he plays, but he's the guy in the spotlight and he knows how to deal with that. As for his part in being a creative player, there's been some media/sports commentator/fan hype about this. I've heard and read it a bunch of times and I don't see how the idea came up in the first place. And as for "dramatically", I guess that depends on whom you listen to. But when you see people act like he's some German Zidane, I'm sticking with that very adverb :)
2. Yeah, I think dude's leg hit him just outside the box, but I only saw that from the 2nd replay. It was hella close

well, I guess the fan thingy is the same like you and Jay-Z ;D I'm not a diehard NM fan because 1.we play crappy most of the time. I guess it comes from my father, he is always extremely critical about the german team. Second thing is that I don't feel the NM the way I feel for my club Borussia Dortmund. it isn't the same. And I'm also pissed about all these bandwagon fans who don't give a fuck about football but act like they're the biggest fans and football experts, all they wanna do is partying and that's the only reason they come out of their holes. Shit dramatically increased here since '06.
to Ballack: ballack can play like a leader, for example he's very aggressive, he can fight, but he has not the personality of a leader. He tries hard to appear as a leader, since all people expect it from him (that shit started already when he played his first season for Bayern), but it's not his personality and therefore he isn't very authentic and convincing. In the World Cup 2002 he seemed to be a good leader, but we had Kahn there too who was the real leader. We had some great leaders in the past, like Effenberg, Sammer or matthäus, Kahn etc. and I don't think he's on their level in terms of "leadership". A leader is usually more of an asshole, maybe Ballack is an asshole too, but not that type of asshole. ;D I'll never forget how Effenberg pushed Bayern in all those CL games whenever they we're losing, he always brought them back with his rage and shit. And I don't see that Ballack has the same effect on his teammates. We'll see if he can prove me wrong on Sunday 8)

I see your point, I wouldn't claim he's a Kahn or Effenberg, but you wouldn't say that anyone in the German team is more of a leader than him? The way you've put it now, I don't disagree all that much.
And lol @ the Jay-Z comparison :D Your first post was "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNAAAAAALLLEEEEEE!!!", that's not the way I talk about Jigga :) I completely agree with you though, lotta so-called "fans" wouldn't be able to tell you who won the Champions League this year, barely even know the simple rules to this game, but then paint the national colors on their face and get all excited about whatever their team does. Angela Merkel would be an example, except they don't allow her to paint herself schwarzgoldrot in the VIP sector. Well, I don't follow German football that much so I thought u meant he was injury prone - cause I know he's not playing that much for Bayern. My bad, shoulda done some research.

Janitor got not much love for the German national team because he hates Bayern and most relevant players either
1) play for Bayern
2) did play for Bayern in the their prime
3) will play for Bayern eventually
4) wish to play for Bayern one day
5) suck (Lehmann)
-
its funny seeing all all these german players who are reserves for top clubs getting there team to the final.. that just shows u how in life with limited abilty and hard work u can get somewhere..
lets have a look at ur first 11
lehmann - cudnt even get in the arsenal team in front of a keeper whose never been called up for his country
freidrich - play for hertha.. hertha who?
lahm - most over rated full back in the world.. i cant belive a player whose better goin forward then defending is called one of the best defenders in the world.. he goes in too tight on his man then gets turned.. if u get a wide player running at him he looks really poor.. i.e Bosingwa and Sabri
Mertescaker - is as agile as a 20 stone man.
Metzelder-- juut like most german players when they go to a top club.. will be a sub at best..
Schweinsteiger - in and out of bayern team... gr8 stamina and work rate doesnt quite make up for lack of natural pace or technical ability.. a german Kuyt.. looks like his best position is center mid..
Frings - flopped at bayern .. very dirty player
Ballack - probably only true world class player u have.. but very temperamental..
Hitzlsperger - an average joe.. hits a powerful shot.. but noone has quite figured out what else he can do..
podolski - again a sub at a top team.. a one trick pony.. all he has is powerful running and a good shot.. and he shud be playing for Poland aswell 2.. has lots of international goals but many of those have been 2-3 in matches against the likes of San Marino, Luxemburg..who have all semi-pro players..
Klose - brilliant heading, but if u took that away, he wud be a very average striker.. also i dont think spain or italy wud pick a striker who has only scored 1 league goal in the last 6 months.. again shud be representing Poland..
-
Get the fuck outta here with that "Should play for Poland" crap. Any nigga that says that to my face that's his head whooped. First off, Schlesien used to belong to Germany and second off, those niggas lived pretty much their whole life in Germany and learned to play here. Whereas you got true Brazilians playing for Turkey, Poland, Portugal etc. If anything, those people shouldn't play for those teams, who never had shit to do with the country and just got the citizenship because they can't get to play for their own nation. So go and suck a dick for that.
Limited ability my ass... when I see all those supposed "world class" players who "are worth 50 million" and shit, some of them don't play any better. LOL@thinking doing some fancy tricks that apply to the lowest common denominator is what this sport is all about. Italy, for instance, is with Germany the most successful European team, and they have never played the most beautiful type of soccer.
-
^Pepe had a lot to do with Portugal; he began playing soccer there from the very beginning..just 2 let u know ;)
Spain will win this tournament

What about Deco holmes? It was just an example. Look at all those Africans playing for France. Mauro Camoranesi playing for Italy, even. Screw it, let's count people whose heritage is foreign only as well... example; Hakan Yakin playing for Switzerland. The list is endless. I'd just love to take a piss on anybody who says Podolski and Klose should play for Poland, that's all.

What about Deco holmes? It was just an example. Look at all those Africans playing for France. Mauro Camoranesi playing for Italy, even. Screw it, let's count people whose heritage is foreign as well... example; Hakan Yakin playing for Switzerland. The list is endless. I'd just love to take a piss on anybody who says Podolski and Klose should play for Poland, that's all.
Deco works, but just mentioning ppl always seem 2 act like we have a shit load of Brazilian players when we have 2 and Pepe is justified (if u argue those germans are).
Im not saying those Polish dudes shouldnt be playing for Germany, just saying its the same situation

I do have a feeling Russia is going to fail tonight. The just-not syndrom.

I wouldn't say that just yet... Russia impressed me against Sweden and Holland.
Either way I don't care who wins: Spain has my sympathy because they have great players and Russia has my sympathy because of Hiddink. I just hope for a great match. This might just become the best game of the tournament :)

Ah, how quickly we forget.
Spain is the strongest consistent team :P
I don't think Spain winning is a no-brainer though. Certainly not.

Janitor got not much love for the German national team because he hates Bayern and most relevant players either
1) play for Bayern
2) did play for Bayern in the their prime
3) will play for Bayern eventually
4) wish to play for Bayern one day
5) suck (Lehmann)
if it makes you feel comfortable, I hate Leverkusen, Schalke, Wolfsburg and Hertha more than Bayern. In the CL I usually root for them, especially against Italian teams or Madrid, as long as they play some decent football. And I got alot of respect and love for Hoeness, but I can't stand that stupid bitch Rummenigge. So that's not the main reason I don't like the national team.
But I completely agree with you in that Klose/Podolski thing, I seriously don't understand why ppl keep complainin

Russia got fucking murdered. That was a sonning on the same level the Dutch pulled them off in group stages. And it was a semi-final.

Russia beats Holland 3-1. Spain beats Russia 3-0. That's not a good look for the Dutch :D
(Then again, Holland beat Italy 3-0 while Spain drew against them. This tournament's been kinda random.)

I do think Spain > Holland, but obviously Holland > Turkey, shit is always kind of random. Still:
Italy in the first game and Italy in the quarter final game is two different teams. First game, they tried to get involved in offense and the Dutch attackers used that to completely rip apart the Italian defense. After that shock, Italy got very cautious and, realizing what things are like without Cannavaro and with a generally weakened team and a wack ass manager, they resorted to good old defensive football. When the quarter final match came, they didn't have Pirlo and Gattuso, the former being their most creative player, the latter being extremely important in defensive midfield. They knew Spain was the better team, so they resorted to playing merciless cattenaccio. Holland might have won a game against that squadra 1-0, but neeever 3-0.
Then of course, today's Russians were nowhere near Saturday's Russians, but Spain had a lot to do with that. Their approach was a lot better than the Dutch team's, since they prevented their opponent from getting creative in the first place. It's easily overlooked after those 3 goals, but their defensive strategy was as great as the offensive one. They were a lot more aggressive than the Dutch in midfield, and the way they kept their cool throughout the whole game was astounding. Russia's best opportunity was when it was already 3-0 and game over anyways.
Spain is the one team I feel comfortable saying is actually better than Holland at the moment, with no if's and but's.
-
I totally agree - Spain deserves full credit for not allowing the Russians to pick up their play. And yes, the difference between the Italian team in the first match versus their quarter final game is too obvious. Still, I'm confident that the Dutch would have had a great chance to beat Italy again, had they come face to face again. That's all speculation though.
I wouldn't go so far as to call Spain necessarily better than the Dutch team in this tournament though. Spain is the better organized team, thus also being the more stable and consistent team. They deserve their place in the finals. The Dutch relied on individual talent and momentary inspiration too much. One minute it's there and they'll do anything you thought impossible, but the next moment it's gone. I'll say they have the better players, but they can't build a team that's really consistent. That'll never happen to any Dutch team either - it's just not part of the mentality. There's no telling how a Spain - Netherlands confrontation would have ended, but it surely would have been exciting til the end. If the pieces of the puzzle connect like they did in the first two games of the Dutch (especially the first, against Italy), I have no doubt Spain wouldn't have been able to stop them. Otherwise, and that would have been very likely, Spain wouldn't have been a bad choice for your money.
-
Hans van Breukelen is confident that the Boulahrouz situation fucked the Dutch team up. If he says that that is the case, then I believe it.
-
^^ Well, that's exactly what I was afraid of, but nobody around me would cosign me. Stop watching Studio Sportzomer though, it's shallow. Makes your brain comatose.

was a great game last night.. Spain's movement off the ball is incredible at times, really pleased that they made it into the finals.. Im just glad ive got money on Spain to lift the euro, times are looking good to me 8)

I agree mostly, but I come to a slightly different conclusion. Of course, there's no telling how a Spain - Holland game would have ended. Your criticism of the Dutch team is absolutely correct, and I guess that's why they never win a tournament. It used to be kind of similar with Spain on past occasions. They never lacked quality players, but what Aragonés deserves a lot of credit for is having built a team and injected a winner mentality into it. The Spanish sellección is no more a fragile bunch of football artists, it's a great team composed of hugely talented individuals, and that's what I guess the Dutch haven't been able to come up with after all, due to reasons I couldn't name better than you just did.
I don't think I can agree that the Dutch got the better players. In that respect, I would say Holland and Spain are more or less equal and without a doubt Europe's top 2 at the moment. But as for Spain, they can keep Fabregas on the bench and replace Villa with him. They can take off someone like Torres and bring on Güiza, the no. 1 scorer of the Primera División. They got Xavi and Iniesta who make up one of the best creative-midfield duos in recent memory and basically saved Barcelona's ass when there was anything left to be saved in this season. They got Casillas, one of the best goal keepers at the moment. They got Senna who does so much work it's not even funny. Marchena and Puyol have done a pretty good job defending, trying to get past Puyol is one pain in the ass. If Ramos plays like he did yesterday, he's an amazing player. Silva is worth mentioning as well....
This is an incredible line-up, and I dare say that in terms of individual talent, it's on a par with the Dutch. Hence I'm saying Spain > Holland, because Spain proved to be working as a team much better.
-
blub.blub.blub I like it that everybody makes Spain stronger than they are. And on Sunday their players have wet paints again
If our team didn't consist of cripples who've never seen a football in their life, we could even win.

The Spain strongest point is the capacity of their "defensive" miedfields to keep the ball a very long time without losing it ... opponent midfield can't fuck with the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas ... basically Spain dominates the game in term of the possession of the ball and just search for the right opportunity to score .. the opponent teams doesn't have the ball very often so they better be VERY efficient and don't miss their rare opportunities to score ... if not , they don't stand a chance
