Draft is 2 days away. What are you hoping to come out of the draft with? Who do you want to see traded? Who's trading up/down/out? Predictions? Rumors? What the fuck? Shit.
Personally I'm hoping Portland can pull off that rumored trade for #5 and then trade up with Minnesota (rumored to be high on Love, could be trading down) and grab Mayo or Bayless. I know it sounds crazy but hell, our GM is known for making shit happen on draft day. It took a series of trades to get us Aldridge and Roy in 2006, and another more complicated series of trades to get Rudy Fernandez, Frye and James Jones last year.

Raps go 17th pick and I am hoping we grab DeAndre Jordan

Lakers don't have a pick, so I don't give a shit...
Portland will probably stay at 13...your best bet is Westbrook, but I have a feeling he'll be gone by 13. You can forget about Mayo.

Don't you guys have #58 or something? I laughed my ass off when I saw the name of the guy nbadraft.net projects them to pick up - JOE CRAWFORD!!! I KNEW THE REFS WERE ON THE LAKERS TEAM!!! LOL And imagine my surprise when I saw that Stanley Burrell worked out for the Blazers. In case you don't know, Stanley Burrell is this guy:
As far as Portland, I think its highly unlikely a) that Portland stays at 13 and b) that Westbrook is still on the board at that point. Pritchard's whole approach to the draft is to target the player(s) he wants and makes moves to acquire them. At #13 the top 2 guys from his draft board are probably going to be gone (Westbrook, Augustin - just speculating)

You think he hurt his stock enough to drop to 17? Most mocks had him in the top 10 until very recently. He does seem like a nice prospect though. Very raw offensively, but he's young, a legit 7 footer and a freak athlete. Once he bulks up a little and refines his post game a little, he could be a legit starting center.

I think so. The latest Mock I saw had him at 15 but said he could fall as far as 26 :o
I hope he falls 2 us, I like this guy.

Do you know why he's dropping so much? Is he refusing workouts or just looking bad in his workouts?

Do you know why he's dropping so much? Is he refusing workouts or just looking bad in his workouts?
I honestly dunno; but realgm (great ball site) has him goin at 15 to Suns
15. DeAndre Jordan
Center. Texas A&M
Jordan could possibly drop even further between now and the 26th, which would be a huge wakeup call for him. But pairing him with Amare Stoudemire in the frontcourt would be scary for opposing teams because they would be as athletic of a 4/5 combination as we have seen.
He has the kind of size, athleticism, and skill set to make just about any GM become enamored with his potential, but like so many similar big men who have come before him, his drive to become great is in serious question. His physical skills are great, and it is evident how he can be molded into a top-five center; however, I’m not sure if he has the necessary instincts to become a great NBA player.
I don’t believe we will see as big of a progression between the DeAndre Jordan we see on day one in the Vegas Summer League and the five-year veteran DeAndre Jordan.

Hmm...(Don't mean to rain on your parade but) I hadn't thought of it before, and Seattle needs a quality center. I wonder if they are in talks with Portland about trading down to #13. They are a hstoric rival, but under their new fuckhead ownership and the impending move to OKC It is possible. Seattle needs a legit center in a big way. Right now they have abut 4 project centers that just arent panning out. And yeah, realgm is the best basketball site on the net!
-
I would love RUSSELL WESTBROOK TO FALL DOWN TO 12 KINGS NEED A PG!!! HES GONNA BE SO NICE IN THE LEAGUE!! THATS WHO I WANT!!! ;D

It's all good I wont die if we dont get him lol but that's who I'd want realistically at 17. Seattle may need a quality C but maybe that's 1 of the teams who dont think he's worth it.
Hell ya realgm is the shit!

not gonna happen. there are rumors he could go as high as 4. I doubt he slips past the Clippers.

Yeah Seattle won't go for it now that I think about it. If they take a C it will be Lopez.

Half their team consists of underachieving centers...I dunno if they really want ANOTHER project center on their squad. If they're looking for a center, they should find themselves a proven one for a change, through free agents and trades.
-
However its looking he might go top 5^^^
I think we can def get Chalmers Or Maybe even Augustine..I like Both They are both NBA ready def more ready then Westbrook. We def need to get one of those guys, i dont want us to go with potential and get a guy like Randolph, altho he could end up being an amazing player, but i really feel like we need a pg badly cuz we can win with Mikey Moore Hawes and Brad Miller on the frontline this year.Hibbert maybe but if were gonna go big id rather go more athletic..

Yeah I had that same thought right after I made that post. They're in a difficult position as they have glaring needs at the 2 most difficult positions in the NBA to fill (pg and c)

In the Kings situation I would consider drafting Randolph if he's on the board and trading Artest for TJ Ford. TJ Ford is a big risk, but it beats another bipolar ride with Ron Artest and it definitely beats losing Artest for nothing. Also resigning Udrih should be a priority for them.
-
I would like that situation that you mentioned, but i dnt think were in tha running for Ford..
-
Whoever the Warriors draft will be a bench player for 3 years and then let go. So yeah, I'm excited
-
^^^LOL. All they need is some big, mobile bodies who can grab some offensive rebounds and a backup pg. Brandan Wright should be playing a lot more for them next year and he can shoulder some of that load but he wont be able to do it alone and he needs to put on a little weight. I don't know why he didn't play a lot more last year
-
^Wright was way too raw to be in the regular rotation...He definitely has potential, though. Reminds me a lot of Aldridge.
-
^Wright was way too raw to be in the regular rotation...He definitely has potential, though. Reminds me a lot of Aldridge.
Me too. Almost a clone. They even look alike. The main difference is Aldridge does everything Wright does but a little better and Aldridge has range on his jump shot. I don't think Wright was too raw for the W's though, especially since he filled a drastic need for them (legit size in the post). I think he can really thrive in that system as he is a good athlete. I would value him higher than Bedrins (sp?).
-
^naah, man...as of now, Biedrins is way better than Wright. If Wright can polish his game, he has potential to be better, but he really has to work on it.

Westbrook went to the same High School I went too. His little brother still goes there, he's on the football team with my nephew.

He is going to be a top 7 or 8 pick IMO, if he falls to #11 then the Pacers will pick him but I dont think we will be lucky to have him stay all the way to the 11th pick.
-
With the #4 pick i'd like to see Mayo or Bayless
-
^^Mayo will be taken with the #3 pick
-
With the #4 pick i'd like to see Mayo or Bayless
Bayless seems to be the consensus pick for Seattle. I don't know how well thats gonna work out though cause Bayless is more of a small 2 than a natural 1. Durant is going to demand a lot of shots and I don't know how well its going to work out there with a shoot first pg. Maybe it would work out ok if they also can pick up a play making 2 like Rush later in the draft and move Durant to his natural position at the 3, move Green to the 4 and start Wilcox at c. Should be interesting to see what Seattle does I really doubt they use all those picks. I think they have about 6.
-
^^Mayo will be taken with the #3 pick
Thats not really etched in stone though. He may be taken at 3 but I have a feeling he will be traded on draft day to whoever drafts Love. McHale seems really high on him but he's not worth the #3 pick. not to mention that they really like Foye in Minny and Mayo would play the same role as him. If Minny picks Mayo, there's a good chance they don't keep him.
-
Please believe Portland is trading up. The Blazers just acquired 27 from NO for cash.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2008/news/story?id=3459658
We don't have roster space for about 3 of these picks so there is definitely going to be a consolidation move taking place on draft day.

All I can say is, whoever lands Love will be extremely lucky...

realgm just did another mock draft and have Jordan going at 21 :o raps taking Robin Lopez now; I do hope its a big man; Lopez or Jordan will work for me.

I've been saying this for a while but it seems like everybody I talk to thinks he's gonna be a bust. His skills are extremely advanced for a 19 year old. His post game is immaculate and his athleticism is very underrated. At the combine his athletic marks were as good or better than a lot of the guys there who are noted for their athleticism. He is a true force in the paint and has 3 pt range if he needs it. not to mention he has dropped a little over 20 lbs and is in great shape. If Minny ends up not trading down for him and Memphis passes on him, he'll be the steal of the draft.

I hope not; realgm talkin good bout Robin and if he can do the dirty work for the raps as they said he could, i say draft em lol; our team is TOO soft.

westbrook would be huge for Indy, shutdown defender and extremly explosive and becoming a better shooter everyday, his length can make it tough on alot of pg's..

People are stupid...He was player of the year in the amazing Pac-10. He's been the most efficient big in the NCAA along with Beasley. Personally, I think he may even have a better overall career than Beasley. I think he should go no lower than 3rd overall, but he most likely will...He'll be a steal.

I agree, people are saying he isnt athletic, well how athletic is Tim Duncan? Love uses his body so well, can shoot from the perimiter and dominate inside and has an NBA body, he just needs to get up and down the court a lil faster..i think thats what teams are worried about. great outlet passer too

Okay...if we're putting together a track team, fine, don't draft him...Dude is a basketball player and has tremendous basketball abilities. The greatest centers of all time were slow up and down the court.

DAMMIT MAN!!! The draft needs to come and go already so I can get the fuck off the internet.

I would love to have Love haha

Rumor out of the NY Times is Portland and NY have discussed #6 and David Lee to Portland for Jarrett Jack, #13 and #27. I'll shit myself if that happens. That's a Zeke Thomas move right there.
-
I wonder if the Kings are gonna make any moves, although we don't really need too, just need to have our young guys to keep developing (Hawes, Garcia, Martin) Although Martin is already a 25 ppg scorer he can only get better..And Salmons are Artest are the best sf combo in the NBA, when Salmons is in we really don't lose a beat and as a starter Salmons was actually avg more then Artest, hes def more explosive offensively..And close defensively imo he did a better job on Kobe then did Artest. So we could trade Artest and we might get better depending on who we got, and Garcia is an explosive shooter and scorer off thebench, instant offense. He avg 14 pts a game this year, thats great. Hes just getting better and was killing at the end of the year when he got a few starts and starting playing 35 mins a game..

David Lee is good.
Any news about Danilo Gallinari? I've heard he tried with NY and New Jersey, and it looks NY is really interested.
-
Gallinari reportedly is only willing to play for NY or NJ (He must have mafia ties or something). If he slips past NJ at 10 he is going to plummet if its true he said that.
-

LOL.
Actually he wants to play in NYK only. And it has nothing to do with Mafia ties, lol. Mike D'Antoni played 10 years with Gallinari's father, here in Italy. They are like best friends and Gallinari's father wants his son to play for Mike (and viceversa). That's it.
-
I have heard that a few NY executives want him, but that could just be a smokescreen. Chances are NY is targeting Mayo. I think Mayo is going to belong to whoever can fleece Memphis for their pick and draft Love to trade up with Minnesota for Mayo at #3.
-
ESPN is reporting that the Sonics will trade the No. 4 pick in the draft to the Clippers in exchange for L.A.'s No. 7 pick and a protected 2009 first-round pick if things go as expected in the Top 3 picks of the draft.
Ric Bucher is reporting that the Clippers want to assure themselves of getting Eric Gordon with the fourth pick. However, this deal will not go through if the Timberwolves pass on O.J. Mayo and he's available at No. 4.
-
^another big one, damn.
-
Im very happy with the kings picks
-
^^^Over the years I've learned not to second guess Geoff Petrie's judgement, but who the fuck is Jason Thompson? I REALLY like their 2 2nd round picks for them though. Absolutely excellent picks, especially Patrick Ewing Jr. He's gonna be fun to watch. Highest vertical leap in the draft at 42".
-
Danilo Gallinari 6th pick overall. I told ya. 8)

and Sean Singletary is fuckin legit he just was on a shitty team and didnt get the exposure, hes so quick and has quick hands on defense great scorer and passer, steal!

Chris Wallace did another bad move LOL. Trading Love and Mike Miller for Mayo and bad contracts after trading Gasol for Crittenton and a bad contract. This is priceless.
-
LOL Don't get me wrong, Kevin Love is gonna be a very good NBA player (maybe even a great player), but McHale is fuckin stupid. You trade Mayo - who might end up being the best player in this draft class for Kevin Love??? Why not trade Foye? Memphis actually made a decent move here. They got rid of Mike Miller's contract for an expiring contract and a contract that expires next year and got a top tier player in Mayo. Memphis is gonna look REALLY good is Marc Gasol is half as good as people are making him out to be.
Conley
Mayo
Gay
who cares
who cares
Thats a solid core. Some of these teams are starting to make me nervous. Teams in the West just keep improving. I expect Seattle to be extremely good in the next couple years. Taking Westbrook at 4 seemed like a tank move to me. They take a very good player but not one who is gonna be good enough offensively to make a real impact, then they can tank again and try for the #1 pick again. FUCK!
Oh yeah, back to reality. These teams can't fuck with Portland:
Bayless
Roy
Webster
Aldridge
Oden
edit: ok so I got some of the trade details wrong. sue me. still, it was fuckin dumb of them to trade mayo. Mayo>Miller.
-
So the genius strategy of the Grizzlies is to just tank until they got a starting 5 of top 5 picks. Sounds awesome. Especially their bigs do look really good right now that they traded Jason Collins :-X Do they want a starting 5 of guards? LOL@their PG position. Conley, Crittenton, Jaric, Lowry... Mike Miller's contract isn't even that long and he's by far the best player of the trade (not counting the picks)... with that said, the move was not wise of the Timberwolves either. LOL@having the 3rd pick and getting Love.
-
^^^This is the type of trade that happens when you have two boneheaded, incompetent GMs playing chess. LMAO
-
Chris Wallace did another bad move LOL. Trading Love and Mike Miller for Mayo and bad contracts after trading Gasol for Crittenton and a bad contract. This is priceless.
Memphis have big financial problems, man. They are just doing everything possible to avoid big contracts/to get big expiring contracts.
-
Somebody correct me if I'm being biased, but Portland was the biggest winner in the draft picking up Bayless, Batum, Diogu and future picks for Jack, McRoberts and Rush. Kevin Pritchard = Jesus part 2.
-

Bayless is better than Jack, imho. He's no Rose but he's a good PG.
Diogu was looking promising, nothing special but he's a good prospect.
Batum i haven't seen him enought. Same with Rush and McRoberts.

Dont Forget about The Kings, we are coming up too...
PG- Udrih\Singeltary\Johnson
Sg- Kmart\Salmons\Douby
SF- Artest\Garcia
PF- Mikey Moore\Thompson\Ewing JR
C- Hawes, Miller, Abdur Rahim, Shelden Williams
Thats what we look like right now, we need to make a few moves tho definitly. We have too many big men someones gotta go. And if we dont resign Beno, were gonna have to get another pg..Not sure if Singletary will have what it takes to start right out teh gate..Only time will tell. But we have plenty of scorers, we just need someone to come in run the offense like Beno did..

Chris Wallace did another bad move LOL. Trading Love and Mike Miller for Mayo and bad contracts after trading Gasol for Crittenton and a bad contract. This is priceless.
Uhhh, Mayo is gunna be a star, so you can't say that just yet...
-
LOL@having the 3rd pick and getting Love.
Nothing funny about that...some of you need to check yourselves, cuz you don't know much about the players in this draft.
-
LOL Don't get me wrong, Kevin Love is gonna be a very good NBA player (maybe even a great player), but McHale is fuckin stupid.
Conley
Mayo

Dont Forget about The Kings, we are coming up too...
PG- Udrih\Singeltary\Johnson

I am intrigued by their picks. I really wanna see with this Jason Thompson can do. I couldn't believe they passed on Darrell Arthur. Patrick Ewing is gonna be really fun to watch and Singletary should be at least a serviceable pg. Geoff Petrie knows what he's doing, I just hope he isn't going for unknown players just to be taking unknown players (Thompson). I have a feeling they grabbed Thompson because they wanted a guy who is ready to contribute now (he's a senior).

I hope so^^ I am really looking forawrd too see how we do. Last year we took a step in the right direction just too many injuries, but we still beat every top ten team in the league excpet for Boston including 2 wins over Detroit, Utah and New Orleans and Houston.
